So new year, new romance rumours!
Who do you all think is at risk this year? I think Adam and Katya

He has had heart surgery in the past and he has quit on the advice of his consultant...

“I’m extremely sorry to have to announce that I’m withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing due to ill health.

"Two years ago I had open heart surgery and although I believed I was fit enough to take on Strictly and its demanding schedule, it became clear that I had bitten off way more than I could chew for this stage in my recovery. I had begun to feel symptoms that led me to seek an urgent consultation with my heart specialist, and it was her view that it would be better for the sake of my health to step back from the show.

Oh that's a shame.

Surely Robert would have spoken to his consultant prior to signing up. It's a shame as I liked him (despite the frog outfit).

That's a shame, I did wonder when I heard about his heart operation.

It is a shame and also annoying he didn't have the conversation before accepting the place as he's deprived another celebrity of the opportunity (I'm still gutted we didn't get some of the female Olympians!)

Maybe he did chat to the Consultant prior, and it was agreed that it would be ok, but it wasn't until he actually started the training and dancing that the problems started unexpectedly?

Yes, he was fine, then began to have symptoms. He said he didn't realise how intense the training would be. He saw the consultant and she recommended that he withdraw.

What makes you think he didn't have a conversation before accepting? He accepted being a contestant based on what he knew at the time.

Celebs pull out for various reasons, and it must have been a hard decision for him to make because he says he is letting Diane and fans down, but it is the wisest decision for him.

I would imagine all the celebrities would have to have a medical of some sort to check they were up to it even if they didn't have existing health conditions.

Aww really gutted with that, I wanted him and Dianne to go far, I think they had potential.

Maybe he did but I never believe when people say they didn't know how intense it would be - for anyone wanting to do well, it's at least 6 hours of intense physical and mental activity every day (I imagine more if you're with Oti or Katya!) or you can pull back and not do so much but accept you won't do so well (like Katie).

I'm not knocking him as he needs to put his health first, just massively disappointed as I hate when people pull out, especially as I really really did want to see a female Olympian on the show!

Was there a female Olympian lined up and has missed out?

Don't they usually only have one olympian per series, and they have Adam with the peachy bum this year? They've had plenty of female olympians in the past, was there someone in particular that you wanted to see

I think Adam and Katya might, sadly. She’s obviously not averse to a bit of partner snogging and I read an interview last week with Adam Peaty where the interviewer said something like “Adam got his partner Eirianedd pregnant very quickly after meeting, which doesn’t surprise me - after sitting across from him for twenty minutes I think I may also be pregnant” so he’s obviously really got something about him IRL.

I think if I was Tom..(I'm a bi girl) I would find it very hard not to snog her in a steamy routine. If I were Gi I think I would be quite worried...

@AndThenInTheEnd Adam got his girlfriend pregnant on their first tinder date. So although they have a baby they haven't been together that long... definitely a danger. Katya looks really good this year too.

I'm really surprised they haven't started adding the odd love island person or influencer, but I'm not complaining! That's when the affairs really would start up!

There has been a few influencers, I think. Joe Sugg? That girl from a couple of series ago, forget her name? Thank god they don't have any ex Love Islanders. To be fair though there were a couple on DOI who did well. I think the c savvy people just use the likes of LI as a springboard. I hope there are no affairs with already attached people this series. I don't like Katya, she doesn't seem genuine and it was also really shit what she did to Neil in front of everyone.

Well that's Oti and Ugo out this week too. Seems unfair for them to just skip a week, they should go too.

I think there is a general rule that everyone is allowed to miss one week for injury/illness, etc, but if you need to miss more than that then you have to leave the series.

I'm sure I read an interview with RW where he referenced his heart op and that he'd taken advice when deciding whether to sign up for Strictly. And that his consultant said he'd be ok. It has obviously turned out that it wasn't.

My mil called round the other night when ITT was on. She doesn't do strictly, or much past murders on Channel 5 really. She looked at the telly and then said in all seriousness "oh is Harry Potter doing it this year then?"
She guinely thinks Tom and Daniel Radcliffe are the same person.

@BonnesVacances yeah he did say that. So they must have been happy for him to do it initially but he then got symptoms, such a shame because Dianne could have had another celeb.
