So new year, new romance rumours!
Who do you all think is at risk this year? I think Adam and Katya

@Geamhradh Adam's dance was up there with Greg's Macarena, honestly I couldn't watch for cringing. And then denim outfits 🤢🤢🤢

I thought Adam was a bit much, I felt like there wasn’t really much joined up dancing really - seemed to be really awkward, I don’t know if it looked strange in jeans rather than the trousers the dancers usually wear?

I also felt like Tom and Amy had crammed in tons of content and it felt like they were rushing through it all, but they got great comments from the judges so probably just me that felt it was a bit rushed!

On the proper Strictly thread someone commented that Adam was like some cringey lo-cost Chippendale act, and that about sums it up!

Adam does seem to love himself rather a lot. Poor girlfriend.

I think it's the timing of the split...mind you, as he's obviously besotted with Rose even if they're not at it (look at that last paragraph, he's talking about the deaf community at a guess) there's no wonder.

I would love them to be together. I'd be matron of honour and make sure Rose didn't go to some seedy hen do to watch Adam thrusting his meat and 2 veg at the audience. Then we could all retire to the Walkers where Mrs Dan would have hearty broth waiting.

I may be getting over invested in my fantasies.

I really don't see Gio being attracted to Rose at all - he's always very attentive to his partners and does a great job of showcasing them but that's it to me.

He is attentive and respectful to his celeb partners but I think he's extremely kissy with her. That's not something he's been with Debbeh, Faye, Michelle or Ranvir.

Ohh I duno. Gio kissed Debbie & Ranvir on the head fairly frequently! I think he’s just typically European 😂

I don’t personally get romantic vibes from Rose & Gio but I live in hope that his Insta post that perhaps she has opened his eyes to a less vain world. One where there are more important things than selfies & self interest. You never know. Maybe she’s the girl to make him less self centred 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I agree that Gio has perhaps got a new perspective. He's very career driven and doesn't seem to overly court social media attention. Maura appears career driven too but far more reliant on social media interest. Perhaps it felt a bit hollow for Gio.

This - I think he is an excellent teacher and a real example to Johannes the other pros of how to show off what your partner can do rather than what you can do as a trained dancer.

Don't get me wrong - in my head, he falls head over heels for Rose; she shows him the value of a genuine woman rather than a social media-selfie-obsessed celeb; they get married and have gorgeous babies.

But he's also a great teacher 😁

Definitely agree about him showcasing his celebrity not himself. When Gio dances, much as he's easy on the eye, you are drawn not to him but to his partner. (Compare Katya and also imo Karen) Some of the old professionals used to do it as well- Ola, Kristina. Look at meeee!

I don't think you notice it so much with Johannes because John is an excellent dancer as well- although the gushing and weeping from Johannes in the Clauditorium gets a bit much. It'd be interesting to see how he behaves with a not very good, and female celebrity. I think he might not be very nice.

Re: Mrs Dan being a Mumsnetter. Gareth Malone's wife was, I remember back when the choir thing took off. I bet Mrs Dan and Mrs Gareth would like each other.

Actually, I'm not being fair - by one of those strange coincidences, I have friends that have worked closely with both, in different spheres. They are very different women. However, that's not to say that they wouldn't get on. You may be right!

I think it must be nice for Nadiya to be partnered with a man so kind and respectful, no inappropriate behaviour or sleaziness there. She must have had a lot of that.

His post about his friendship & Ally-ship with Kai nearly made me cry. & he’s the best of friends with Graz (their friendship is a joy as well), Oti & Jeanette. I find it bizarre to assume he’d be not very nice with a female dancer.. he’s been nothing but incredible polite & graceful towards anyone he’s worked with on Strictly. 🤨

I couldn’t think more the opposite of Johannes. He’s a black, gay African. He must have spent his youth pretty terrified of who he was & who he loved. He has to worry about people disliking him because he’s black & because he’s gay. The fact he is able to dance openly with another man on the biggest show on U.K. TV is I’m very sure enormously overwhelming for him. And for it to be met with such positivity (on the whole), even more so. And while you might not care that he’s black or gay.. you haven’t walked a single mile in his shoes. And you still have the press running with Anne Widacombe whinging the public don’t want to see it 😡 So there’s still a long long way to go. If he wants to be emotional each week, go ahead. I can only imagine how much it means to him.

I agree with all of this. He and his partner (can't remember her name, youngish, actor?) were adorable together. He was also 100% respectful to Caroline even though I don't think they really got on.

The first time Johannes had a partner it was Catherine Tyldesley from Corrie. I remember him saying that she accepted him for who he was, and I think they had a good relationship.
