So new year, new romance rumours!
Who do you all think is at risk this year? I think Adam and Katya

Gio dated his first partner, Georgia May Foote. She wasn't married but she did have a boyfriend when she started Strictly so it was a bit of a curse situation.

Yes Jacqui thought it was very well written, decent insight. Brenda comes across well in it and Sophie sounds like she had her head screwed on. The idea of cracks appearing because you find yourself again, a new you, different purpose/meaning/identity, emptiness once it is all over...sounds very close to what others have said about the experience, and reminds me of what happened with Louise Redknapp.
I wonder whether you are better off orchestrating a fake split with your other half for the duration of the show only before it even starts, just to remove the curse focus, or whether that would just feed into it like with Ranvir showmance last year.
Best chemistry for me this series = Jo and John by a country mile, then pairs who seem very much at ease = Nadiya and Dan and Graz and Judi. Singletons I would have a soft spot for shipping (which is why production paired them) = AJ and Kai.

Didn't Joey from Friends say it was when there was no chemistry at all (e.g. Rachel and Pash) that you needed to worry?

Yeah I hope not but judging by Katyas past! And I believe he only had one tinder date and she got pregnant, then they got together.... I hope he's loyal!

@JacquelineCarlyle are you forgetting Gio and Georgia? Her boyfriend was furious. Stacey Dooley and Kevin - her fiancé was also furious. Katya and Sean. Dianne and Joe (she left her boyfriend).

Dancing in close proximity with very very good looking dancers will always be risky.

I'm happily married and Gio would send me into a melt down if I was dancing with him half naked 🤣

@Claymorekick I know. He's gorgeous and so is his girlfriend so hopefully he stays loyal

FWIW, Stacey Dooley was never engaged to her boyfriend and both she and Dianne split from their respective exes before they got together with their dance partners. Both couples are still going strong and seem very happy together, so good luck to them I say.

I don't see the likelihood of any romances this series, save perhaps for AJ and Kai (neither of whom I know much about).

That is a good article by Sophie. I can imagine totally relating to both her and her husband depending on what role I was on the strictly cult. The person at home or the person dancing.

To be fair, I don't really see the split as a big deal unless one of the individuals in the couple is married & children are involved. I appreciate not everyone would agree with me, but for me, if they're young & just dating / living together, unless it's been 10 plus years I don't think the split is that sad as likely they'd have split anyway, this has just spurred it along.

@JacquelineCarlyle yeah I agree to be honest. I wouldn't be letting my husband go on there though 🤣

@BiffytheUmpireSlayer yeah I like both couples Dianne and Joe and Stacy and Kevin. They definitely split up whilst on the show though. Both boyfriends came to watch them on early shows, I remember Staceys actually crying.

I think the quote in the SEB article (think it was Brendan that said it to her) that is you are happily married before Strictly, you will end the experience still happily married is probably very accurate. I can easily see how the whole experience would highlight any cracks that were there.

Also, IIRC, Sophie got pregnant very early on in her relationship with her now-husband and they clearly do have a very strong relationship with 4 or 5 children so Adam and his partner may well be the same

@mnahmnah really! I'd be all for Gorka but his height puts me off, even when he's taller than the female he looks shorter for some reason, I don't know why 🤔

I always think that it must be difficult for the partners of the professional dancers to watch these dances. They have their hands literally all over one another. Plus they have to spend so much time together, it's quite a heady mix.

But that said I don't think it's in the Strictly rules for there to be a romance between couples every year is there?

@Sparklingbrook I definitely thing something has been added to their contracts after the Katya and Sean episode. It's meant to be a family show.

@mnahmnah sorry! Yes he is. I live near Gemma Atkinson and seen them in town, he's even shorter in real life. He's still very good looking though! And height doesn't matter to most anyway!
