New thread, looking forward to finale, but wishing it really was the last episode, with all storylines and characters ending satisfactorily.

I agree with the PP who mentioned the prisoners, surely any members of the resistance would be up on the wall after a speedy trial?

But we know that June risks others' lives to get what she wants, time and time again.

I think they should stop here.

While it's compelling, tonight's final episode works as a Finale.

Disappointed with this ending - yes was glad that June finally got her revenge on Fred - but so annoyed that we never got to see them tell Serena what had happened. I hoped that she wouldn't be going to Geneva, but back to Giliad, where her baby would be given to another commander's family. Revenge complete!

I have loved this! It's been so engaging chatting with you all about this! Only the final podcast to go and then done 😭

Relieved not to have to dodge spoilers anymore though! 😅

I agree, it was.

I assumed the women in the resistance were put to work and made to toe the line - it looked like the women who walked out were Handmaids, Martha's, colony workers ?

I thought Luke realised earlier that he could no longer live with what June had become - watch his body language in the background when she is at the dining table taking to Emily about how she wants Fred to be scared to death.

I love watching Lawrence, his little shrugs and laconic attitude are fucking hilarious.

I think they didn't just kill the really useful women. If they had skills that were valuable to gilead they seemed to keep them alive eg oncologist

She couldn't leave Hannah in Gilead but she'll happily leave Nicole? Wtf???

It makes sense. She has a stronger relationship with Hannah and Nicole is safe and cared for - she already has two parents, both of whom June loves and trusts, whereas Hannah is stuck in a rape cult.

I really hope the next series is the last one, the end of Gilead would be ideal but I'm not sure how it would happen.

It made me ill how the prospect of this made her horrified. She was happy to do it to others though

Yeah, I wanted to see Serena being told. I couldn’t believe the nerve of her and her demands at the start.

The trouble is, it could go on forever.... getting weaker as it does. They always do.

Draw a line, find a new book. They could use the same sets for Oryx and Crake.

She might have killed Nicole’s father.

Even if she hasn’t she is now too damaged to be in a family.

Her revenge might have lost her Nicole.

Fred isn't Nicole's father I know this is a popular theory but the show runners have ruled it out

Slight complication with the sequel book Testaments which shows Gilead surviving for a while yet.

@Crinkle77 she's never really been a mother to Nicole though. She had a normal, mother daughter, relationship with Hannah for the first six or so years of her life and she fees guilty that Hannah was taken by Gilead. She loves Nicole but she's never really been her daughter, she got her out but she's been raised by other people her whole life

Well that ended well didn’t it, except for Fred of course. My prediction for series 5, apart from the obvious June goes to get Hannah, is that Serena persuades Rita to come and live with her and the baby in a very nice house she has bargained out of Tuello.

I thought that June wanted him onnthe wall, so he was. But was 'disguised' as a waiter, or econoperson, or whatever. Ie Nick and Lawrence arranged it, outside of the official channels.

He wasn’t on The wall. It wasn’t the wall where they hang them in Gilead. It looked like just an old bridge the hung him off. The graffiti would never have happened on The wall. This isn’t an official wall hanging, so Joseph and nick won’t have to pretend he was a dentist or anyone else.

I thought it was a fantastic episode, just right.

The revenge, the killing of Fred was just perfect.

The only pity is we didn't see Serena's reaction.

Gilead might think Fred is in Geneva.

I suppose going to see Nichole, whilst covered in blood, showed how far removed from society she is. She's 'in blood stepp'd so far, that to go back would be as tedious as to go o'er'.

Ooh yes This was a deal under the table between Joseph, Nick and Tuello. Gilead doesn't know Fred was coming back.

Finale? how so? Yes, Fred is dead (ding-dong!) but Hannah? Lawrence? Lydia? Serena Joy-and-myson? June on the run? Janine? Will Gilead crumble from within and external pressures?

I agree that the series is painfully drawn out, and they could tell the story at twice the speed with no loss (how many minutes of June Face have we accumulated now?) but too many loose ends at this point to finish.

Is it really going to be 10? Please no!
