I’m so looking forward to this. Just seen the trailer and can’t wait!

OP posts:
OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/04/2021 21:49

Love it and cannot wait ....I do love the Purge episode from last series

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2021 21:51

Poor Lee mead being binned off by Liz!
It really was a fright night that one.

Kentuki · 27/04/2021 21:52

I’ve just watched The Terror with the actor in who plays Kevin. He was TREMENDOUS. He couldn’t have been better and obvs a totally different character to Kevin. He is an outstanding actor.

Porridgeislife · 27/04/2021 21:53

I love Diane Morgan in this show so excited for the 3rd series. Lucy Punch is also excellent.

Anna Maxwell Martin not so much - she doesn’t so much act as gurn intermittently. I’m baffled as to why she gets so much work.

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2021 21:58

Paul ready ( Kevin) is a very versatile actor.
It's rare these days as most become a bit type cast , but he isn't.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 27/04/2021 22:01

He cracked me up with “mein kraft”

Came here to say this - obvs couldn't be more different as a series - and as for the two characters- just shows how good he is, as you say...equal to AMM in Motherland and LoD

I'm half-heartedly looking forward to this. It's a bit too middle-class and London centric for me. We both work full time and don't go around flapping and begging people for help like Julia or flash our bits at bus drivers like Meg (although we are knackered and stressed). I just can't identify with any of the characters. I'm not really into the whole getting into the in crowd at the school gate thing either with Amanda and her crew, but I do know a couple of people where their kids and their latest craft project to post on insta is their life. I'm not sure I envy them though.

I will probably watch it though. I missed the Christmas episode. I just wish it was more realistic and relatable. I like Sharon Horgan's writing too and I she is very funny, but I've not yet seen anything she's written outside of middle class London. I guess Catastrophe was a bit similar with the main characters in it being people you wouldn't like much in real life.

RubyFowler · 28/04/2021 07:21

I think the characters are exaggerations of the types of mums you see at the school gates. I don't live in London and I recognise the 'types' for sure!

lollipoprainbow · 28/04/2021 07:24

@LeaveTheBentBastard if you don't like it why bother commenting and saying you might watch it !!! I for one completely identify with Julia hence why I love watching it so much !

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 28/04/2021 08:00

Have people forgotten this is a comedy and therefore exaggerates for comic effect? Would be bloody boring if it portrayed how the average working parents went about our business. No one has accused working people of flashing bus drivers 🤣🤣

lollipoprainbow · 28/04/2021 08:06

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop exactly !!!!

MinnieJackson · 28/04/2021 08:07

Yay can't wait!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/04/2021 08:08

Me and my sister like to think we are a mix of 2 or so characters each....they are stereotypes and very mirroring of the London school gate (very diff classes/ backgrounds under one classroom)

That's what Meg did! She got really drunk and did that in the first episode she was in.

Just posted to say I wasn't sure about it - it's funny in places, but just don't identify with the characters much and it's similar to what other people I know have said - it's funny, but just can't relate to it. I will watch it, but it hasn't won me over yet. Maybe this is due to living in a city outside London and the stereotypes we are used to seeing and laugh at are different. I do see a more tame version of Amanda and very few Kevin's, but not really the other mums and dads.

GreyhoundG1rl · 28/04/2021 15:09

It's a comedy, LeaveTheBentBastard, not a documentary on life in London.

Hi Amanda.
mum2jakie · 28/04/2021 18:27

Just remembered another favourite episode - think it may be the sports day? - the one where Kevin walks out his job, saying "eff you" - but washes his cup up before he leaves! Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/04/2021 17:01

@lazymum99

Nigel Havers will probably drop in as the Dad!
With Joanna

That was finding Alice 😂😢

southeastdweller · 30/04/2021 07:15

It’s back on May 10th at 9pm.

OnGoldenPond · 30/04/2021 08:00

@Tigresswoods love the swimming pool episode!

Reminds me of when a class mum roped me into being an in pool helper at her daughters pool party then fucked off to the coffee shop with her mates. Angry

Felt like a right twat hanging around in my cossie smiling awkwardly at her DH in his budgie smugglers!

Pool parties are grim Grin

lollipoprainbow · 30/04/2021 08:04

My favourite episode has to be when she takes the in laws to a restaurant and ends up paying for Mrs lambs food, "it's like Saturday night takeaway over there" !!

Thank you. Grin

Hopefully BBC will put the previous seasons on iplayer, so those without Netflix can rewatch the old ones

mnahmnah · 30/04/2021 09:17

I started watching series 1 again last night. I’d forgotten so much of it and it’s brilliant the second time around too
