Everyone's well used to filming now! There's another cop show filming at the mo, GOT was filmed in NI, The Fall and loads of others... if you wander round the city on early on a Sunday morning you're tripping over tv and film crews!

I get the similarity between Carmichael and Cassie in terms of the pauses/speech style but that’s where the similarity ends for me! Lovely Cassie is (was 😭) more hesitant and unsure of herself, whereas Carmichael is clipped, curt and an ambitious bitch :o

I love both actresses and characters but for totally different reasons :o I can’t remember when I last cried at TV as much as I did for the Unforgotten finale 😰 I’d love to meet both actresses (and make them my best friends obv 😳). If I could I’d ask AMM which character she prefers playing - Julia from motherland or Carmichael :o

I really don’t want Carmichael to be bent. It would be too easy as she’s so obviously against Ted and she’s such a nasty person. I am hoping she’s just insanely ambitious and happy to trample on anyone to achieve her career goals and that she believes she is doing the right thing in terms of Ted being corrupt. I like what others have suggested about her maybe coming round to the truth in the end and helping the main three instead of being against them.

Osborne has always seemed more likely to me but maybe that’s too obvious by now as well.

I’m assuming Thurwell wouldn’t count as the fourth top one as he retired so long ago? Even if he is heavily involved.

I could’ve sworn he’d been on The List but he’s not, was I just remembering the name because he was also involved in the case they talked to Fairbanks about in s3? So he’s involved in cover ups but not one of the actual abusers?

I think the fact he wet himself was to indicate his dementia has advanced and he could not recall the information and got upset. A year earlier it may well have been different.

Carmichael is looking to advance her career and head up the new combined AC unit. She's being used by Osborne/the OCG essentially.

Yes that’s my take on Carmichael too. She’s a convenient way for the top ones to get their bidding done “legally”.

I’m not sure about the dementia. Sometimes sufferers would be more convinced they are in the past/their younger selves which could have made him talk about the conspiracies as if they were happening now (eg as if thurwell was his friend etc) but he looked more as if he was in the earlier stages with general forgetfulness and becoming frail etc.

His interview in s3 was one of the most horrible I’ve seen, I absolutely hated him and the way he played the forgetful old man - so in that sense I did wonder if he was still acting, exaggerating his frailty to get into the different prison etc. But more likely genuine and there’s the frustration that if vella had been able to interview him a year ago she might have got more out of him

Fairbanks was included because he's a link to the abuse aspect of the case, not because of anything to do with Chloe! He was a senior police officer involved in both the abuse and the cover up and Steve's frustration is that he's still unwilling and possibly now unable to reveal any more information on the goings on. Dementia was used as a reason for his being unable to stand trial in S3 though he did and was obviously convicted.

I don't think Steve's actions were an attempt at bullying just showcasing his anger at what happened at Sandsview and the loopback to Gail Vella's death.

I think Chloe is relatively new, uncorrupted and undefended emotionally, unlike Steve. She is still able to see the whole picture of an offender who also has dementia. Steve just sees him as a stepping stone to solving the case. He may not intend to bully him but I think Chloe could see it like that
