Yeah, I was fully expecting the police officers to have been overpowered and a switcheroo type thing to have happened. Then the OCG thugs to turn on Steve at some point. I was on tenterhooks.

HarrietHardy · 19/04/2021 22:44

Oh god I'll have to watch the whole thing again now.

BruceAndNosh · 19/04/2021 22:45

I wonder how many phone calls to Belfast police there were, after the filming of last weeks van ambush of Steve and Jimmy Lakewell?

NoWordForFluffy · 19/04/2021 22:53

That's what I anticipated!

Glass :o

I actually thought the raid on the workshop was going to be a mistake. I thought that somehow they’d got it wrong about which out of the second and third was actually the workshop - maybe they’d been set up, or they’d just jumped to conclusions seeing the men go in and that they’d shot two innocent people! I was relieved that they were dodgy and the workshop was there.

@Thebirdstbeseathebirds

So, sit indoors, stay offline, don’t turn BBC on til Sunday then??
That’s pretty much it! If you’ve been following the threads then you’ll know that speculation/guessing based on what we’ve seen so far is fine.

But posting anything to do with clips/future episode descriptions/future episode cast lists etc is a no no here (the clue is in the thread title!).

Thankfully, no idea what you posted. As a pp said, there is another thread where spoilers are ok.

HarrietHardy · 20/04/2021 03:21

This a hard core non-spoiler thread. Hard core.

@Libelula21

I think the scene where Steve and Chloe interview Fairbanks was significant. Ie: the plot was seemingly not pushed forward at all.

It’s unlike Steve to lose his cool, and I think that was a smokescreen scripted to hide the fact that Fairbank pissed himself when he recognised / worked out who Chloe is.

I know she’s very young, so it’s implausible, but I don’t think she’s not got done kind of edge in this.

I’m asking myself: why was that scene with Fairbanks included?

I think Chloe might make a complaint about Steve bullying Fairbanks..
pollywollydoodler · 20/04/2021 06:18

I think Jo has been installed in an OCG flat .
The photo of her mother and herself or possibly her sister is put there to remind her that they are at risk if she doesn't do what she's told.

Ulysses · 20/04/2021 06:28

Fairbanks was included because he's a link to the abuse aspect of the case, not because of anything to do with Chloe! He was a senior police officer involved in both the abuse and the cover up and Steve's frustration is that he's still unwilling and possibly now unable to reveal any more information on the goings on. Dementia was used as a reason for his being unable to stand trial in S3 though he did and was obviously convicted.

I don't think Steve's actions were an attempt at bullying just showcasing his anger at what happened at Sandsview and the loopback to Gail Vella's death.

Piggywaspushed · 20/04/2021 06:48

The shoot out at the workshop looked ridiculous and I was all on edge because we didn't see faces of firearms officers. Later on I thought this was because of covid filming...

ladsholiday · 20/04/2021 06:49

@Checkingout811

Does anyone else get serious Nicola Walker vibes from Carmichael? It’s the way they both speak. Everytime she speaks I feel like I’m watching Cassie speak to Sunny.
They must have both ducked their thumbs as kids
BruceAndNosh · 20/04/2021 07:04

I'm concerned about the location of Jo's Station The Hill.
Next episode there will be a massive emergency call out, and none of the police cars will be able to get out as that narrow access road will be blocked by a bin lorry. Grin

No, it's Dolores Umbrage

Maybe crossed with a Sith (or even Snape)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 20/04/2021 07:27

Maybe crossed with a Sith (or even Snape) But remember that Snape was a good guy!

MoonCatcher · 20/04/2021 07:32

Speaking of Nicola Walker I'm thinking Kate Fleming could be assigned to be Sunny's boss in Unforgotten, given Cassie's demise. The team are very chilled and thoughtful and in comparison Kate would be a bull in a china shop, insisting on going armed to meetings with her team, and wanting to go undercover at every opportunity.

Exactly
drspouse · 20/04/2021 07:57

@BruceAndNosh I was coming back from a bike ride and there was a poor harassed bin man racing to move the lorry from a narrow road where two fire engines were waiting.

diddl · 20/04/2021 08:36

@HarrietHardy

Indeed. The lack of blood and the CPR had me baffled.

It did look a bit staged.

Yes. I don't think anyone would be surprised if they popped up in another episode!
Buggerthebotox · 20/04/2021 08:46

That scene where Beardy and his mate got killed was very strange. Steve arrived, Afos went in, there were a couple of shots and LO and behold Beardy and mate were dead? No blood, some unrealistic looking cpr? It reminded me a bit of the shooting at the bookies. The cpr didn't look right there either.

BruceAndNosh · 20/04/2021 08:47

Is it Sunday yet?

I think I read somewhere that it’s a school in real life - it certainly doesn’t look quite right for a police station!

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 20/04/2021 08:51

Nearly, Bruce 😂

Interviewedundercaution · 20/04/2021 08:53

I wonder if it was a hastily reshot scene due to Covid.

Buggerthebotox · 20/04/2021 08:55

Something else that's been bothering me (probably of no relevance and I haven't rewatched so not sure anyway): why did Ted leave the office abruptly after (I think) seeing the clip of Osborne?

And when Steph took Steve's call why was she outside her house? Its probably something to do with not wanting to take a call in front of her kids or something but I've got an idea in my head that Ted rushed off to see Steph and he was at the house when Steph took the call from Steve. It all looked odd and staged.

Please someone disabuse me. Grin.

Chloe has spent a lot of time looking pissed off so a compaint about Steve's treatment of Fairbank at the home may be in the offing? I don't blame her for being pissed off - she's done most of the legwork tbf.

Is Fairbank acting? He's done it before. I wonder what Vella thought she would get out of him?
