I'm glad a PP posted the observation about Ted not knowing about the misspelling of definitely before making the error himself. We have three misspellings now - the OCG on the webchat thing (could that actually be Ted?), the communication with the OCG where he was given pre-prepared statements but chose to go off-piste, misspelling again, and the webchat with Jo in episode 6 (also Ted?).

He revoked the ambush at the depot in s5. Dodgy or what?

He is given £100k in cash and only £50k is found. Why not just hand it back? he can't spend it as it's the proceeds of crime. Do we know how much he gave to Steph? Has it been counted? If he didn't give it to Steph how much does he still have?

I think it's plausible that he's seriously bent (not H level bent) and the only people who know, or suspect, are Kate and Steve.

I think this will be the resolution: Ted will be found to be bent but will still carry on some criminal activity outside the force as a retired bent copper.

It also creates some scope for a further series, with Kate and Steve in situ and investigating Ted.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 11:33

Sorry @Buggerthebotox - I'm sure you've got that wrong. Ted deliberately misspelled definitely when impersonating whoever is giving the orders. That was all set up by AC-12 IT at the time and he's not still doing it. During S.5 we were meant to think Ted could be H, but it turned out he wasn't.

We know Ted lost his life savings and his marriage due to the failed property investment. He took the calculated risk that not returning the whole £100k wouldn't be noticed because let's face it, which criminal is going to say they tried to blackmail Ted and he's only returned 50% of the cash? He gave Steph the money in attempt to make amends for John's death.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 19/04/2021 11:33

Tommy Hunter's sister is dead. We were told this.

Were we? Confused

We were told that the woman Jo listed as her NOK is dead, but she’s not necessarily Tommy’s sister. She could have been a foster career, or another element in Jo concealing her past.

Or was the detail of Tommy H’s sister being dead revealed elsewhere? Confused

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 19/04/2021 11:35

Only two quick observations from me to add:

One, did anyone else notice that Ted turned the monitor off rather than shutting the window when he had enough? Not a clue or anything, I just thought it was weird.

And two - Lee banks naming ted now doesn't mean it was ted. The whole "ted told Lee in prison" theory was included on the DIR in the interviews in the glass box, when ted was suspected of being H; therefore if actual H is high up (osbourne for eg, but still fits if it is Carmichael), they are already aware that ted was suspected of telling him. So all it takes - at some point in the many months between, this is hardly the next day - is for actual H to communicate to banks to say that it was ted who told him. Therefore reframing ted again.

Even if ted does turn out to be bent, I don't believe he told banks about John.

Furthermore, Ted has nothing to show for being a criminal mastermind. The higher ranks of the police service appear to be trying every which way to remove Ted. He's not CC sitting pretty at the top of the tree. He hasn't personally made any money out of anything. Pretty much all he has in his life is his job. He's making a pretty shit job of being H in my book.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 19/04/2021 11:37

Oh also, whether jos real dob is '76 or '79 - making Tommy Hunter either 11 or 14 - I suspect his sister was similar in age. Butterfly effect springs to mind; children being forced to "perform" together.

Also I guess there’s the chance they didn’t know they were siblings?

Yes, this is my issue with the ‘Ted is H’ theory - he is seemingly reaping no personal, financial or professional rewards for it whatsoever.

So will Lisa McQueen be back because she lied that it was Miroslav that killed Corbett and now Ryan has confessed to his murder? Assuming she will lose her immunity and witness protection because of this. I would love her to return - great character with hidden depths.

HunkyPunk · 19/04/2021 11:49

I confess I missed the incest line when watching,

I'm not surprised. We had to replay it x3, use the subtitles, then google the meaning of 'homozygosity'! Blush

Good shout.

Is it possible that Jo was adopted, given the age of her mother even if the father wasn't know.

That way Jo might not have known who her father was.

Or, she might have found out as an adult and that was what was used to bribe her to assist the OCG?

That way, the photo of her mother could be adoptive mother and would explain differences in accent

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 19/04/2021 12:03

Lisa McQueen would surely just say Ryan was lying and she saw miroslav do it? Or that she honestly believed it was miroslav (depending on whether she said she saw it in her statement). There's no evidence to say it was Ryan, just his say so.

BentBastard · 19/04/2021 12:04

But if she found out as an adult why would that be enough to blackmail her. If she finds out who her birth parents are it doesn't reflect poorly at all on her. It's barely a criminal connection if she wasn't raised by them and she didn't lie if she didn't know.

Ulysses · 19/04/2021 12:04

I don't think Tommy and Jo's accents are all that different bearing in mind they both have lived in the Midlands at some point and would perhaps modulate their natural pace of speaking. I work in Glasgow in there's a broad range even within my own department. I sound a lot earthier when I return to my home town.

PrincessScarlett · 19/04/2021 12:08

@NameChange2PostThis I'd like to see Lisa McQueen back too. If Ryan is dead then she could provide lots of useful information about Ryan's role in the OCG. The fact that she failed to even mention Ryan when she gave everyone else up speaks volumes that he had a vital or specific task that had to be continued/completed.

MissDollyMix · 19/04/2021 12:10

I can't watch AMM and not think of her character from Motherland. I keep expecting her mobile to ring with some problem with her kids!

jugglingeverything · 19/04/2021 12:15

Just spotted when Kate phones Steve, her contacts include "Ambition Nails Patricia" 🤣🤣🤣

DeRigueurMortis · 19/04/2021 12:16

When Ted said "my officer out there" are all assumed he was talking about Kate (in the sense she'd be working with AC12).

But what if he actually meant Jo and she's been working undercover for him?

Would explain why she's so upset about doing what she's doing.

Perhaps Ted found out who she was in relation to Hunter and coerced her to work with him?

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 12:22

Nah - he meant Kate. It was Ted who got Kate a permit to have a concealed weapon for her own protection. It's also Ted who didn't bring in Ryan because he wanted to continue to use him, via surveillance, to see who he was communicating with so Ted knows it is on him if Kate gets hurt.

I think the OCG has offered Jo information of some description and that's why she's working for them.

ConnectedToSandsview · 19/04/2021 12:22

Can I just say, my ex husband asked me in about series 2, what the fuck are Bernard phones?

They will always be Bernard phones to me.

ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 19/04/2021 12:24

Like bernards watch?

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2021 12:33

I said a while back lisa was still dodgy

She didn’t reveal about Ryan killing steve when she gave info /witness protection

She still wanted the Oct to suceed

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2021 12:33

Ffs Ocg

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 12:36

That was part of her insurance so the OCG didn't track her down and kill her.
