And lastly, I promise, anyone who thinks that Ted will be retiring is kidding themselves. He’s conspired with organised criminals to murder a serving police officer and paid off the victim’s family using the proceeds of organised crime. (Pretty much the same crimes that Lindsay Denton was convicted of). And Kate and Steve know it.

There are three possible outcomes. Either Steve and Kate both die before they get the chance to tell anyone - to be fair there is literally nobody who they would trust enough to tell. Or Ted is going to prison for many years. Or he dies. My bet is on the last one.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/04/2021 10:50

@MotherOfGodWeeFella

I disagree with you - reading far too much into things, not misdirection. Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one. Like Hunter being related to Jo. Both Scottish.
Yep. I agree with this!
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 10:51

Steve and Kate aren't going to tell anyone. Thought that was pretty clear once Steve understood why Ted gave Steph the £50k. Obviously the facts can be presented as Ted being complicit in such a conspiracy, but we know he isn't.

JudgeJ · 19/04/2021 10:51

no spoilers or you will be served with a reg 15

If I hadn't already seen it, solved it there's no way I would click on the thread, I stayed up til after midnight to be make sure I'd seen it otherwise I'd spend all Monday avoiding it!

jugglingeverything · 19/04/2021 10:52

Rewatching. Slowly. Noticed that when steph takes steve's call she goes outside and kinda hides behind the wall. Who does she have in the house that she's hiding his call from?

Also we know that Tommy Hunter became an informant, hence the whole Denton series. That means he was unlikely to be the big boss as the boss can't just leave or the whole gang would collapse. So must have been someone above him....

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 10:53

The Ted giving Steph money is a very small detail in the overall plot. I think Ted will retire happy having brought down the bent coppers involved with the OCG.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 19/04/2021 10:53

I disagree. Steve is straight as a die, always has been. And he was emotionally close to both John and Steph. He won’t be able to live with it going unpunished, and covering it up would cross a huge line.

JudgeJ · 19/04/2021 10:54

@TedisnotH

So James Nesbitt is the dodgy copper involved
Is he H or G(oliath)?
JudgeJ · 19/04/2021 10:56

@poorbuthappy

I am getting more and more suspicious of Chloe.
The first H, threw himself under the bus, literally, in Series 1 had a daughter called Chloe!
BentBastard · 19/04/2021 10:56

My money is still on Osbourne as "H" even with the introduction of the Nesbitt character.

I realise Nesbitt was Osbourne's boss at the time of the Lawrence Christopher death, which does complicate it a little, but I'm standing by it.

cathybates · 19/04/2021 10:56

Where was the reveal that Tommy Hunter had shagged his sister?

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 10:57

@jugglingeverything - I thought the same, that there was someone in Steph's house she didn't want to hear her call Steve. Not the kids, an adult. Anyway, we now know that Steve was only ever after working out what the connection between Ted and Steph was.

I think we're also satisfied Hunter is dead and the OCG, with the help of bent coppers, bumped him off.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 19/04/2021 11:01

@cathybates

Where was the reveal that Tommy Hunter had shagged his sister?
Jo’s DNA showed “homozygosity” ie characteristics which indicates incest in her parentage. A tiny post-it note captures on a screen shot by eagle-eyed viewers shows that her father, Tommy Hunter was also her uncle, ie he had sex with his sister.

DD’s A level biology has never been so useful, though to be fair from context of the conversation I did assume that that was what it meant.

Libelula21 · 19/04/2021 11:01

Two things before I go:

It could even have been Jo that shot Ryan, though on balance I think it’s far more likely Kate did.

Given that there’s a significant photo of Jo’s mum / Hunter’s sister in Jo’s flat, I think her mum must be more than a background symptom of a dysfunctional family? But who?

JudgeJ · 19/04/2021 11:02

@StormcloakNord

How the fuck are we meant to wait a WEEK to see what is going on?!?
My second AZ jab due on Friday, may cancel in case I have a reaction!
JudgeJ · 19/04/2021 11:04

@Violetroselily

I reckon the AFOs have turned up and shot him
I think he shot Jo, who is no longer of use to the OSG, snd Kate shot him. Jo will survive to tell all.
cathybates · 19/04/2021 11:05

@FourWordsImMuNiTy thank you - that’s an amazing spot

poorbuthappy · 19/04/2021 11:07

@JudgeJ - yes but the dates don't add up.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 11:13

I think the fact Ted has given Steph that money is to show us that sometimes a person's intentions can appear to be murky when their motivation is somewhat different. Ted was out to avenge his wife being brutally assaulted in her own home and giving the money to Steph was an attempt to make amends for John's death. John Corbett overstepped the line in terms of what he was supposed to be doing undercover because his motivation wasn't understood by his police bosses. Things are often not black and white. I think that now, if she survives the lorry park shoot out, Kate will be fully onside with AC-12 and Ted.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2021 11:15

Tommy Hunter's sister is dead. We were told this.

I do remember Tommy's accent and it is actually quite similar to Jo's. I think Kelly M has tried to replicate it to an extent. Both actors are from the Glasgow area.

What is less convincing is two children from such awful backgrounds would have quite such polite Glaswegian accents(Martin Compston in Sweet Sixteen is a better version!) but I resume it is part of the cover up of their pasts.

JustLyra · 19/04/2021 11:17

We’ve been shown that even Steve will lie if he feels it’s for the greater good - he and Kate both lied about Tony Gates’ death so that his family would be looked after financially.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/04/2021 11:18

Does that not tie in with Jo speaking slowly? So as not to drop into a more-harsh accent?

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 11:22

We don't actually know Samantha Davidson, Jo's NoK, was Tommy Hunter's sister. Seems likely though.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2021 11:23

Surely we are meant to assume that?

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2021 11:24

Yes that's what I think fluffy.

Jed uses so many Scots in his stuff, I used to assume he was Scottish!
