I can barely remember vital stuff from earlier in THIS series, it's a bit much if the entire plot hinges on minutiae from the first 2 series (which I haven't seen)

I don’t know what Fandom is so apologies if I’m wrong, but how can people speculating be considered spoilers? Surely that’s just what we’re doing?
Dailyhandtowelwash · 19/04/2021 09:10

The idea that we’ll only ever see Jimmy Nesbitt’s photos - and that they’ve aged him up so well (ie shown time passing accurately) makes me laugh. Much as I’d love to see a GBS with him, I think it’s probably the right guess.

BruceAndNosh · 19/04/2021 09:20

FANDOM is a kind of Wikipedia style site (written by public) which has microsites devoted to individual films and TV series. I find it useful useful for keeping tracks of sprawling plots.
Ie I couldn't remember who Nigel was, so looked it up.

Then you risk going down some rabbit hole of plots and someone slips in at the top of the page (THIS IS MADE UP....) Linsday Denton was the lovechild of Ted Hastings and Gail Biggloe (definitely made up)

At this point one can't tell the spoilers from the speculation from the Jed playing tricks on us...

Dailyhandtowelwash · 19/04/2021 09:21

We were discussing the possibility of this series ending with AC12 disbanded, Steve invalided, Hastings retired, and Kate unemployed, and Osborne deflecting it all - so series 7 being them all working together outside the police to get it all sorted. DH said ‘but that wouldn’t work because you wouldn’t understand it if you hadn’t seen the other series’. Reader, I laughed and laughed.

PrincessScarlett · 19/04/2021 09:22

Thanks @MazekeenSmith I must have missed the bit where Kate was taunting Ryan about Lisa. Too busy watching them all like a hawk and not listening properly!

I do hope it's not the end of Ryan as it leaves so many unanswered questions about why the OCG invested so much in him. Plus he's a great baddie. I wonder if Ryan has shot Jo and Kate and has done a runner?

BruceAndNosh · 19/04/2021 09:22

I like the Idea that Jed has caved in to James Nesbitt wanting a role in LOD by giving him nothing more than a police file photo!

Libelula21 · 19/04/2021 09:25

I think the scene where Steve and Chloe interview Fairbanks was significant. Ie: the plot was seemingly not pushed forward at all.

It’s unlike Steve to lose his cool, and I think that was a smokescreen scripted to hide the fact that Fairbank pissed himself when he recognised / worked out who Chloe is.

I know she’s very young, so it’s implausible, but I don’t think she’s not got done kind of edge in this.

I’m asking myself: why was that scene with Fairbanks included?

Libelula21 · 19/04/2021 09:26

Bad writing + typo : I think she’s got some kind of edge

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 09:27

Please don't post spoilers - even if they are the official BBC trailers. Not everyone wants to see and know this stuff.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 19/04/2021 09:28

@MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht

Ok, not sure what constitutes as a spoiler on here but did anyone else watch Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure a few weeks ago on Graham Norton? They released a really short clip and GN was taking the piss about how little it showed. Thing is it did show quite a lot in hindsight... It shows two out of the three characters from the shootout in a scene we haven’t seen yet. So yes, I know who got shot, or at the very least, who survives!
Two of the pre-season trailers show who survives and who doesn’t, so last night’s car park scene didn’t hold much tension for me.

The night-time clips of the car park were pretty much the only scenes I remembered from the pre-season trailer, so I’ve been waiting all series for them to come up. But they do pretty much give away the outcome of the gunpoint stand-off.

MelissaVonStressel · 19/04/2021 09:28

The idea that we’ll only ever see Jimmy Nesbitt’s photos - and that they’ve aged him up so well

To be fair they've added hair to his pre-transplant head as well - he didn't have that much hair IRL at the time he was covering up the Lawrence murder. And they've kept the transplanted hair on and added grey to it - there's dedication right there.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 19/04/2021 09:31

Just to add, if anyone wants to be ‘spoiled’, there are two trailers: one of about 1min long that gives a tiny bit away, and one of 13 secs which is likely from the opening scene of next week’s episode and makes it very clear.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 19/04/2021 09:31

@Libelula21 - Chloe is an upstanding AC-12 officer. She's not bent or otherwise connected to any other character or the OCG.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 19/04/2021 09:32

@BentBastard

It seems clear now that Buckles is being used because of his involvement in the Lawrence Christopher death. He was complicit in the cover up (although obviously not mastermind) and is now having that held over him, thus being parachuted into every OCG related case.
Excellent point, that’s why he keeps cropping up.

How? What can they know that hadn’t been aired yet? Confused

Go back and watch them! Series 1 is EXCELLENT!! Plus if you haven’t watched it you have missed the epicness that is Nigel Morton! Grin
vannyy · 19/04/2021 09:37

Was Sindwhani lying when he said he was trying to protect AC12?

Libelula21 · 19/04/2021 09:38

@MotherOfGodWeeFella

Perhaps, but how can you be sure?

There’s a scene repeated on Twitter where she glances down the side street towards the OCG vehicle is just before the attack on Lakewell is launched. And she ‘fails’ to reach up to the hatch in the van, leaving Jonesy to get shot.

But perhaps more misdirection.

vannyy · 19/04/2021 09:38

Series 1 is brilliant, my least favourite was the Thandie Newton one

vannyy · 19/04/2021 09:39

Perhaps, but how can you be sure?

Indeed, trust no one!

C8H10N4O2 · 19/04/2021 09:40

One of the reviews today described AMM as " Patricia Carmichael, gliding in like Cruella de Vil to hand Ted’s gonads to him in a bag."

Too much of a pantomime villain which jars against most of the others (albeit the Tedisms are being overdone this series).

I don't think Carmichael is H but she is presented as more interested in the greasy pole than actually rooting out corruption so corrupted in a different way. Doing a Nelson with Osborne would be consistent with that.
