Stars Emily Watson and Denise Gough.

Cant say I know much about it, but hopefully it will be better than Intruder.

Please!

Oh that's right! She had too much to drink.

mrswhiplington · 13/04/2021 16:30

I think she had drunk too much wine at the dinner party the night before. Connie said something like "ooh, red wine" when she was throwing up. It was a bit slow for me but will probably keep watching in the hope it gets better.

unique1986 · 13/04/2021 16:30

She was drinking so much.

dayswithaY · 13/04/2021 16:43

I agree that the actress playing Connie is brilliant - just the right combo of sinister and bonkers.

As soon as Nessa said that Lea was the first woman she had been with, I thought "and there goes Connie's husband!"

Why did they go on a long road trip just to sit on a grass verge and get stoned? Who drove back?

Too Close: ITV viewers left baffled by bizarre sex scene blunder

Seems this was the talking point on twitter, not the plot or the acting or ... !!

Just watched! I enjoyed it. Respect to Denise Gough, it’s like two entirely different characters with just the subtle hints of who nice yummy mummy Connie will turn into.

CatherineCawood · 13/04/2021 17:58

I must also be easily pleased as i really enjoyed it, even put my phone down for the hour. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Clawdy · 13/04/2021 18:14

Not likely the Emily Watson character is pregnant - she is 54 in real life.

the80sweregreat · 13/04/2021 18:21

I was joking about her being pregnant!
( it's just that if this was Eastenders, she probably would be.)

Arbadacarba · 13/04/2021 18:23

I wondered this, as it is a truth universally acknowledged that any woman in a psychological thriller who throws up will soon find to her surprise she is pregnant. Grin

😀 I do think I definitely have ' phone addiction' .. I bet that one day a ' 12 step programme' will come out for people like me to learn how to put it down and not use it for a whole day. I really struggle to watch anything on tv now without my phone in my hand.
GillBiggeloesHair · 13/04/2021 18:25

I have a 1995 RAV4.

Anyway I turned it off 3/4 way through. Bit boring and depressing for me.

the80sweregreat · 13/04/2021 18:26

I don't know the lady playing Connie.
According to wiki is she is more of a theatre actress.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 18:56

She’s sucking a fag (like diesel) 🤣🤣🤣

I assumed the old car was more like a status symbol - not money necessarily but just being different/special because they don’t have boring mainstream cars.

Unfortunately I can well believe that some people would behave like the dinner guests. Especially when wine was flowing. Some people really have no shame/compassion IME 😬

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 18:57

My solution to phone addiction is to watch the programmes on said phone :o

I can tell when I’m less focused though as I keep clicking away from the tv app and checking mumsnet/messenger etc

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 19:03

Well you can probably tell by my name I’m a fully paid up member of the Lod Squad :o

Happytohelp1 · 13/04/2021 19:04

Im not asking for any spoilers posted on the thread Incase it ruins it for anyone but can anyone who’s watched tell me whether the children survived her driving into the river?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2021 19:04

I’m not sure. Ones in a coma. But think other may have died
AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 13/04/2021 19:05

Happy they haven’t actually said one way or another I think, however they keep saying attempted murder so I’d assume that means they’re both alive?

I think they said one is still in a coma.

the80sweregreat · 13/04/2021 19:12

I do vaguely remember watching Paula and IMDB tells me it was on in 2017. I Can't remember the plot much though.

eatsleepread · 13/04/2021 19:27

I liked it, and will definitely be watching tonight.
