Stars Emily Watson and Denise Gough.

Cant say I know much about it, but hopefully it will be better than Intruder.

Please!

I like the cast so that helps a lot. Intrigued.

OhWhyNot · 12/04/2021 22:07

Yes she was Michelle

She also directed episodes of Line of Duty

And did a much better job

cariadlet · 12/04/2021 22:08

@LockdownLard Yes she did. She was in Grange Hill as well. She's been a tv producer and director since the 90s but I can't think what programmes she's worked on.

Xmasbaby11 · 12/04/2021 22:09

I thought it was good! Cliche though, definitely, and Emily Watson character is terribly unprofessional.

GillBungalow · 12/04/2021 22:11

I'll stay with it because I want to find out more of the Connie story

Duvetstay · 12/04/2021 22:11

I liked it though I felt Emily Watson was far too rattled, an actual Forensic Phsycologist wouldn't have reacted like that at all

cariadlet · 12/04/2021 22:14

I'm sure any professional would have known not to get so close to a patient who had become extremely agitated. That was just asking for trouble.

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 12/04/2021 22:24

@OhWhyNot

Cracker was absolutely brilliant

This is boring and why are they driving really old cars

I thought that about the cars too?? Why would a professional North London couple, living in a £££££££££ house be driving an R reg Rav 4??? I did also scoff at the other couple's Mark 1 Escort, but DH reckons they're now classics and worth loads, who knew? And yes, Cracker was the best. It ruined me for all other forensic psychology based drama - nothing comes close. Sad
LizzieSiddal · 12/04/2021 22:30

I really enjoyed it. Intrigued to find out what’s going on.

Clawdy · 12/04/2021 22:33

Good acting, but I do find Denise Gough's ultra posh accent isn't convincing.

Winniewonka · 12/04/2021 22:34

Woman in the car with her husband wasn't Connie's friend. I don't know what to make of it, I thought Emily Watson and Denise Gough's acting was of a very high standard but the story was quite odd. Do people really make jokes around a dinner table about children on life support ?
On a shallow note I did like the psychiatrist's house, especially the back of it illuminated at night.
There's not much else on so I'll carry on watching.

Clawdy · 12/04/2021 22:52

Surely that was Connie's friend in the car?

Clawdy · 12/04/2021 22:54

But DH just said it wasn't!

unique1986 · 12/04/2021 23:12

Yes it was Ness.

CSIblonde · 12/04/2021 23:12

I'm confused. I thought the woman in the car at the end was her friend, but she looked a lot older & had v short hair...I love Emily Watson so I enjoyed it. The 'Connie' actress is not being subtle enough, it's a bit cliched.

Wingedharpy · 12/04/2021 23:38

I was extremely impressed with Connie's "injury makeup".

I'm interested to see how it develops.

I wondered if Emily Watson's character had been somehow involved in her own daughter's death - maybe accidental arson/falling asleep in bed with a fag/carelessly discarded fag end?

Winniewonka · 13/04/2021 00:03

Apologies - it was Vanessa in the car holding hands at the end but looks very much older, I've paused the image and realised it must be the same person due to the heavy necklace she is wearing. I suppose we don't know how much time has elapsed since Connie and Vanessa first met plus we now have a possible motive if Connie knew about them.

MissBarbary · 13/04/2021 01:21

@Clawdy

Surely that was Connie's friend in the car?
It was Connie's friend.

The dinner party scene was dreadful and very unrealistic.

Even if the psychiatrist was unprofessional enough to even let slip in the first place that Connie was her patient would anyone really think she might discuss it?

lolacola77 · 13/04/2021 03:56

Absolute shite. It's a Poundshop Silence of the Lambs. Ridiculously unrealistic. Are we expected to believe that the psychologist would just sit there are take such shit? A friend of mine has the book and said it's fabulous. I'll read the book I think. Then watch the rest of the series to take the piss!

What is it with terrible TV drama these days? I'm still recovering from The Drowning and The Intruder - shockingly poor.

the80sweregreat · 13/04/2021 06:30

I've not seen it yet ( will catch up later today ) but I agree with whoever mentioned Cracker! Best series ever.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2021 08:45

Worked last night - will watch today

Haven’t read any comments yet

KittytheHare · 13/04/2021 08:48

I really liked it, despite agreeing with some of the criticism here! Will definitely be watching tonight.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 13/04/2021 08:55

I'm not sure I'll bother with the rest. I don't find any of the characters engaging or likeable enough to continue. A circle jerk of horrible, self-important, navel-gazing, privileged North Londoners.

I liked Intruder and The Drowning precisely because they were daft, and I enjoyed the actors' performances. Plus I have series 2 and 3 of Unforgotten to watch on Netflix which is very good indeed.

MumofSpud · 13/04/2021 09:10

Yes I had the same thought as you - why the crappy car until DH 'explained' how it is vintage and worth loads Hmm if I googled it (I didn't!)
To me it's still crappy though!
