Stars Emily Watson and Denise Gough.

Cant say I know much about it, but hopefully it will be better than Intruder.

Please!

This is really interesting as I’ve just watched on catch up and am quite surprised at the sneery negative comments on much of the thread. I found it very very powerful. Yes there were dramatic inconsistencies blah blah but crikey the acting was fantastic imho. Maybe it had more effect because I binged it? I dunno.

purpleme12 · 17/04/2021 23:08

I thought it was powerful too
And i thought the acting was really good

I've been left with the earworm that is that song, is it 'The end of the world' ?

What I found odd was describing her as a yummy mummy. I didn't think she was nearly polished enough. She was a bit too hippy-ish and her house not sparkling enough - unlike Ness & Leah.

stumbledin · 18/04/2021 17:25

Not sure if it was the original version of the song they used, but if so

I really enjoyed this. I missed what her sentence was. Did they say? Sorry if already mentioned as I've not read the whole thread.

Honeyroar · 18/04/2021 21:15

I don’t think they said (or I missed it).

RoseMalone · 18/04/2021 21:42

Thanks. She seemed to be back in the psychiatric hospital so I assume her sentence was there.

IrmaFayLear · 19/04/2021 09:04

Didn’t like it.

It was a polemic against prescription drugs - and GPs! Of course many GPs over-prescribe and under-monitor, but anti-depressants are, literally, a life saver for many and don’t lead to such drama.

Also the forensic psychiatrist was hideously smug and shouldn’t have been allocated that case in the first place.

I don’t think an errant dh, a betraying best friend, a bereavement and a bad withdrawal are “excuses” for driving off a bridge with children in the back. If I were the dh and the other woman I could never forgive someone who came within inches of killing my child.

RoseMalone · 19/04/2021 09:40

I think when we saw it through her eyes at the end it was supposed to be that because of the psychosis and withdrawal she wasn't intending to drive the kids into the river but was driving away from danger (the evil face on the traffic light and the evil faces on Ness and her dh) and driving through the barrier to reach her mum who'd help her. Might not be realistic bit I think that was what it was supposed to be

Honeyroar · 19/04/2021 11:45

Yes RoseMalone that’s exactly how I read it too, I think we were supposed to.

And no I wouldn’t forgive someone for driving my child off a bridge, but you’d have to own the fact that your dreadful behaviour contributed massively towards the mental breakdown of the person did it. Nobody knows how they’re going to react to the bereavement of someone very close. Some people get on with life, others crack. It’s largely not a choice. And a total betrayal from a good friend and your husband would be w huge amount of additional stress to deal with on top.

Nospringchickendipper · 21/04/2021 23:35

I enjoyed this as well. I felt sorry for Connie losing her Mum when she probably needed her the most.
No support from her husband at all he couldn’t wait to get her out of the house so he could carry on with Nessa
