Anyone just see it? Good for her. What a horrible tag line. They're clueless.

OP posts:
EvilOnion · 17/03/2021 09:31

"She was on there to talk about hair, not to discuss her past. Good for her."

Exactly, her current interviews don't need to centre around things she did decades ago. I'd be pissed if people kept traipsing my mistakes up.

I think she did the right thing and I hope she does get more publicity from standing up and calling them out rather than just sitting there talking random shit embarrassed/annoyed by their petty headlines!

Also, as a side note - if she was there to talk about hair I might've been interested in hearing about it. She has amazing hair! Envy

Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:32

I have had some crap in my past that I have successfully moved on from. I wouldn't be impressed that it was still being brought up either.

Me too.

We learn, we grow, we move on.
If we're allowed to.

@abstractzebra

I've never really understood the sympathy for Susannah. She has always sat next to Piers smirking and joining in when he's been rude to people so she obviously didn't think his behaviour was that bad. It's the same with any job really. If you work for a scurrilous organisation with low morals, you are basically saying that it's ok by continuing to work for them.
Agree, she's never been any better than Piers and now that he is gone she'll take over as leading mouth on GMB. She was cringey to watch before, sat beside him, smirking and pouting. I don't watch anymore for this reason!
Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:33

I didn't realise she was there to talk about hair, must look it up! She looks fab.

MintyMabel · 17/03/2021 09:34

Apparently it was a quote from her own book?

If the quote had been "I once took a shit in a bath" would that be appropriate to use?

Using a quote out of context doesn't make it ok. Using a quote out of context and turning it into a label for her is worse. Maybe the quote says "I don't want to be known as an addict turned fitness guru". The excuse of "it is in your book" is really lame.

Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:35

A quote from a book published 14 years ago.

As she said... she spoke about it back then.

tangerinelollipop · 17/03/2021 09:42

It is time for everyone to start calling people out on it and standing their ground

This. People need to be able to speak their minds

Alsohuman · 17/03/2021 09:44

@ancientgran

It's a shame that she feels unable to talk about it. Her journey could be very inspirational to people who are struggling. Of course she doesn't have to use herself as an example but she put it out there so I'm a bit conflicted about it. I didn't see it so might be more clear cut if you watched it.
Maybe she feels she’s talked about it enough and there are more interesting things to talk about. She must be sick to death of it now after 16 years clean
Motnight · 17/03/2021 09:45

Good on Patsy. She wasn't going to follow an agenda that she hadn't agreed to.

Though would have loved to hear her speak about her hair, she looked blooming amazing!

ramonac · 17/03/2021 09:46

Good for her.

2021hwg · 17/03/2021 09:46

Feels like a publicity stunt to me. Lots of free press now

MazDazzle · 17/03/2021 09:47

She was there to promote her range of hair care products.

The fact that she was an addict 16 years ago (and has spoken about this extensively, in an interview with Piers Morgan if I remember correctly) has nothing to do with this. She wrote a book 14 years ago. And why were they asking her what she thinks about Meghan & Harry? Terrible interview.

Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:48

Thanks for link Thumb!

B33Fr33 · 17/03/2021 09:52

They literally chose something negative to summarise her whole existence or relevance in order to attention grab. She walked away from that. A lot of addicts aren't comfortable with their past and it wasn't relevant to her interview but obviously itv are desperate to get some shock tactics to raise their view I g figures. They wanted to make it about that.

VanillaIce · 17/03/2021 09:54

I think Patsy could have handled it more elegantly. All she needed to say was “can you take down the strap line please, I don’t define myself as an addict anymore.” They’d have got the message and she could have flogged whatever she was on to flog. If the information is in the public domain (she hawked her story around for years until something better came along) and she has previously defined herself as an addict then it’s unreasonable to expect it never to be mentioned again.

GMB is sensationalist tv though - she knows that, she all know it. No need for a flounce.

Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:57

I watched it. She was polite, very... considering the circumstances. Not sure how much more 'elegant' she could have been Hmm

tangerinelollipop · 17/03/2021 10:01

Her hair looks fabulous!

Depends how you look at it. I don't think winning the battle with addiction and becoming a fitness guru is a negative.
SozzledSausage · 17/03/2021 10:04

GMB is awful. The Jeremy Kyle of breakfast TV. I never watch it. Far prefer the Beeb.

Alsohuman · 17/03/2021 10:07

Patsy Palmer obviously disagrees with you.

KitchenFairy · 17/03/2021 10:13

Ben's first and only question..
"Did you move to get away from people shouting 'Ricky' at you in the street?"

I couldn’t believe this was the first question. Honestly, it’s pathetic, the whole show needs to go and ITV need something completely new with fresh faces.

SignsofSpring · 17/03/2021 10:17

There's a difference in saying 'I had an addiction' and straplining someone as an 'addict' 14 years later. 'Addict' is now considered a derogatory term (as it defines the whole person by their addiction).

She had addiction issues in her teens and early twenties, she's a successful businesswoman in her forties (with great hair!) I don't blame her from saying I don't want to sit there with that strapline thanks.

fassbendersmistress · 17/03/2021 10:21

I’ve never associated PP with addiction issues and I’m ashamed to admit I read my fair share of tabloid fodder. Feel almost impressed with myself that I did not know this.

If she wasn’t on to talk about addiction issues then there was no reason to label her as such, blatant sensationalising when they don’t have Piers to do it for them. Good on her.

fassbendersmistress · 17/03/2021 10:24

Yes! What an insulting question to start on. A pathetic attempt to link in to their obsession with H and M. As if PP uprooted her entire family and moved continents to avoid that, FFS.
