Anyone just see it? Good for her. What a horrible tag line. They're clueless.

OP posts:

I saw it and thought good for her to be honest. She handled it really well, was extremely polite but also stuck to what she felt. I wish I could be as gutsy as that!

Number3BigCupOfTea · 17/03/2021 08:41

wow, she took a stand and I like her for it.
I didn't know she had had any addiction issues but if they're all in the past then it was disrespectful and is just GMB trying to pigeon hole her forever.

This programme seems to be like bear baiting or cock fighting. They just continually take it too far. I only ever see youtube clips I admit, but every day there's a new example of them taking it too far.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 17/03/2021 08:41

Pasty had been on reality shows? I am totally lost here.

Roussette · 17/03/2021 08:42

GMB is the DailyMail of TV.

Good on her. And Susannah just said 'Oh Wow, I didn't expect that'.

Errrmmm... course you did luv. Subtly blaming Patsy there.

Ben... 'It wasn't our intention blah blah'
Yes it was.
Sensationalism at its very worse.

I hope GMB suffer a severe ratings drop with Piers and this sort of thing. It needs a major overhaul.

Well done Patsy

WorraLiberty · 17/03/2021 08:42

Apparently it was a quote from her own book?

ItsSnowJokes · 17/03/2021 08:45

I watched it and from the minute they cut to Patsy (before the strapping had come up) she didn't want to be there and looked pissed off.

It is apparently a quote from her book, so I think it is a bit odd to take offence that they have used that. It was clearly a trigger for her though.

If it was for publicity it has worked a treat as not many of us would be discussing the interview had it gone ahead as normal but everyone is discussing it now.

ItsSnowJokes · 17/03/2021 08:46

*strapline not strapping

Moonstone1234 · 17/03/2021 08:47

It was rather rude but if it’s using her own quote.....

NonWinery · 17/03/2021 08:48

Good for Patsy.

Borogroves · 17/03/2021 08:51

I can't understand why Patsy Palmer took offence. She has talked about and written about being addicted to drink and drugs in the past. Is she now wanting everyone to forget about that?

Somethingkindaoooo · 17/03/2021 08:52

The very reason she was there though is BECAUSE she has come from.being an addict to a wellness guru.
Why else? I'm pretty sure other people have discovered the wonders of meditation/lentils/ etc so.
She has gone from one extreme to another- that IS inspiring, but being a former addict puts the wellness guru part in perspective

orangecinnamon · 17/03/2021 08:52

She may have well been have written about being an addict. That doesn't mean she should expect to talk about it in every single interview she does.

BadFoot1 · 17/03/2021 08:53

Well initially I was going to say they shouldn’t have put that tag line on....if her addiction was years ago she’s entitled to move on. But if she’s written a book about it and that’s a quote from the book I’m more on the fence.

How long ago did she write the book? What was the interview about? If the book was fairly recent and they were interviewing her on wellness guru type stuff fair enough. If they were interviewing her about something totally unrelated to health/wellness not fair enough.

ItsSnowJokes · 17/03/2021 08:54

The interview was about her new range of wellness products she has coming out.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 17/03/2021 08:54

Agree with pp - if it is in her book and her own quote, why take offence?
And actually what a story of hope to tell that you can make positive changes!
Did look like she didn't want to be there from the off though

ForwardRanger · 17/03/2021 08:54

It's just fucking rude to throw your guests under a bus. It might have seems cool and fun in the 80s but the rest of us have moved on. Grow up already.

IntermittentParps · 17/03/2021 08:55

Maybe her publicist failed to tell her what strapline they'd be using, so she didn't have fair warning? It's very disingenuous to get annoyed about them using a line of her own though.

Tal45 · 17/03/2021 08:56

I read that it's a quote taken from her new book. I understand if it was a long time ago and she doesn't want it to keep being brought up, but if it's in her new book it sounds like she's just being a brat to me or even more likely it's a stunt to draw lots of attention to her - and her new book.

Unless she doesn't even know what's in the book because someone else wrote it for her and she didn't bother to proof read it.

MarieDelaere · 17/03/2021 08:57

@orangecinnamon

She may have well been have written about being an addict. That doesn't mean she should expect to talk about it in every single interview she does.
I agree with this.

I would imagine it had already been agreed that the interview would only be about fitness and wellness.

BadFoot1 · 17/03/2021 08:57

Guess she felt initially she could use the “addict to wellness guru” as a unique selling point and for publicity as she flogged her book/set up her brand.

But nkw she considers herself an established wellness guru (not sure she is) she can try and drop the addict history?

SignsofSpring · 17/03/2021 09:01

It's also worth nothing that in the addiction field, we don't refer to people as 'addicts' as its considered a bit stigmatizing these days.

ForwardRanger · 17/03/2021 09:01

That's not how it works...
Roussette · 17/03/2021 09:01

So what if it's taken from her new book.

If someone has been an addict do they have to be defined as an addict for decades every time they go on telly?

Ben's first and only question..
"Did you move to get away from people shouting 'Ricky' at you in the street?"

The standard on GMB is so low, that's the best they can do ?

Bilquis · 17/03/2021 09:02

@GoLightlyontheEarth

Yes she did the masked singer recently. She was very good

Guess you'd be making a hell of a lot of assumptions there 😂
