Spoiler-free thread to discuss the upcoming Marvel series on Disney+.

I wasn't excited about this but the trailer has made me excited. Unlike WandaVision, the trailer and promo art make it fairly obvious (I think) who one of the Big Bads will be. Also looks like it will be quite funny, carrying on the energy that Sam and Bucky had in Captain America Civil War.

That was a million times better than all the previous episodes! For the first time, when the credits rolled, I had a "shit hang on i was watching that!" moment Grin

Side note - DH and I got together on a group holiday to Riga, which is a beautiful city, so I'm enjoying the Riga scenes a lot.

The Dora Milaje were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. The intro scene with Ayo and Bucky was beautiful. The Dora dominate every scene they're in and yes @exLtEveDallas I would definitely watch a Dora Milaje series.

Sharon was annoying last week and continues to be this week. Boohoo you did a crime and didn't get pardoned while you were on the run. I also think she's the Power Broker - or maybe we're supposed to be that? But SuperSoldierSerumScientist (SSSS. Forgot his name.) said he worked for Hydra then got picked up by the CIA, and where was Sharon working after SHIELD fell?!

Zemo is awesome. So charismatic. Daniel Bruhl is doing a brilliant job of portraying a charming intelligent sociopath. I liked that he smashed the serum. Very in keeping with his character's core values.

Obviously Sam never would have taken the serum. He wouldn't even keep the shield.

Anyone thinking that this ruins Avengers Endgame a little? They were so focused on undoing their failure that they just didn't think about the consequences. Maybe 5 years down the line, they should have just let it be?

Poundland Cap has gone waaaaaay off the reservation hasn't he. I felt bad for Battlestar. He didn't deserve to be written out so fast.

I don't think it ruins EndGame but I do think it makes you think about the consequences of such grand actions.
I'd say it's unfair to expect people to have accepted & moved on after the Blip - most would likely have wanted it reversed (Hawkeye for example) but as is usual the ramifications of returning billions of both people & animals (cos the Blip wiped out half of all living things - does that include plants??) in the same place/situation in which they Blipped at the same time would have been utter chaos! People who blipped in planes would have fallen from the sky etc.
So to me it's great that they're exploring this friction between those who did & didn't blip - none is right or wrong, but they all are the victims of circumstance. & clearly this hasn't been handled well by the authorities hence the Flag Smashers.

Yes! The Dora Milaje were amazing. Just came in and kicked the shit out of everyone. Like they all deserved actually.

'They weren't even Supersoldiers'

Hells, yeah Poundshop Cap!

Ooh Turkish delight was the white witch's temptation of choice. I'm loving it but have no idea who to root for. Apart from Bucky. Never had one haircut changed a man so much 😬

I’m in love with Bucky and Zeno. I love how his character has developed.

Had a family argument because DD keeps saying John Walker is evil. I think the beauty of the writing is that everyone thinks they are doing the right thing, Zemo, Flagsmashers, Bucky, Sam, and Walker. All the characters motivations come from a good place. But the flaws in their characters make the actuation of their belief good or bad. It’s quite brilliant writing.

Also think Sharon is pier broker but that might be too obvious?

Anyone else want a Dora Milaje series now? Totally kickass.

Yes to this!

I like that the characters aren't perfect but see themselves doing right the thing. The original avengers all had flaws..and know new Cap was always going to head down this route just because..he isn't Captain America and something about the comics..but be intresting to see what happens now. What he did was out of anger and whatever else..

Sharon..is gana be something lol. Shame there's only 2 episodes left. I want a Zemo spin off lol. I like him! And his dance last episode..sold it

Thought the episode was good but as a character Sam is being left behind. Not growing enough.

Poundland Cap is going the way I suspected and is very well acted although I keep seeing his Dad through him.

@Sokovianfortuneteller

“Poundland Captain America” 🤣🤣
Sums him up perfectly. If anyone watched ‘The Boys’ he also gives me Homelander vibes. Like he may not be as wholesome as he appears. Probably not quite as bad as Homelander though 😬
Sam said “we can’t just beat him up and take the sheild” (or something similar). Errr yes that’s exactly what you should do!

Homelander indeed..!Wink

@Whatsnewpussyhat

Sam's not coming across as likeable as usual

He's always been a miserable beggar.

I enjoyed it more than last weeks. The new Cap is a dick and his mate will probably die😄

Yes I am quoting myself, but I was right.
The new Cap IS a dick and his mate has died.

😂😂😂

Zemo spinoff would be great!

Just when I think I can't hate John Walker more!

Sam doing somersaults is a lovely sight. Bucky with a twinkle equally so.

This was definitely about laying foundations for the final episode next week.

Anyone else watched yet?

Just finished it - good rounding up episode to lead into the finale.

Post-credit scene wasn't unexpected but will lead to an interesting showdown next week.

Glad Sam has taken on the mantle & that Bucky got a free counselling session.

Sad that Zemo is now gone (for now) & that the Dora Milaje had only a small part.

I like the chemistry between Sam & Bucky but felt the boat repairs were over-long.

Sharon clearly seems to be the Power Broker but why is she sending French Dude into bed with the Flag Smashers? What is her endgame?

The boats scenes were nice...I guess. Bit random for the episode. One more to goooo. Fun moments to tie up. The Zemo moment was nice.. got where he wanted to go Sad

I do kind of feel the boat plot has wandered into the show from another show altogether, but who gives a fuck, we finally had Bucky and Sam having an actual conversation! Relationship growth!

And I loved, loved, loved Bucky flirting with Sarah. I feel like we got a flash right back to the original Captain America and Bucky the cocky, skirt-chasing GI. It was a nice reminder he's more than murder-angst and vibranium. Also Bucky smiling watching Sarah's kids play. (The Guardian review was all, "He'd be a great stepdad, Sarah!")

I still just don't really care about Karli and the Flag-Smashers. Thus far they've basically just been a complete contrivance to give Sam and Bucky something to do and pull them into conflict with John.

Nooo. They do feel like the weakest part of the story.
Do feel bit sorry for John in a way..like said if they had all worked together and all.. now he's busy building ooooh

Wonder if see the man from the first episode whose son Bucky killed again. Liked him

Bucky is so dry he's practically the Sahara. Love Sebastian Stan's delivery.

Loved the arm quote! Highlighting the boundary between Bucky and Winter Soldier. I liked the boat stuff, and the handling of the issue of race/racism, and think the depth we went into with Sam’s family was important for that. Bucky admitting that he and Steve (as white men) hadn’t considered what it meant - they probably took a “colourblind” approach, but if you can’t see race, you can’t see racism. I really wanted to hear what Lemar’s sister had to say to Walker - she clearly had opinions from the look in her face but stayed schtum during that scene! Definitely annoyed they killed him off.

Very much enjoyed the training montage, and the post-credits scene. And I finally believed Sam and Bucky’s chemistry in this episode, with them acknowledging that they’re not really buddies, that Steve is their connection and he’s not here any more (where IS Old Man Cap btw?!? And also where did the new shield come from?!?) and really they’re just a couple of guys. It felt forced before, because now they admit it was.

One final thought why isn’t Sam talking about all of this with Rhodey?

Report
iklboo · 17/04/2021 20:36

What new shield? Cap gave it to Sam. Sam didn't think he could do it justice so gave it to Steve's memorial museum thingy. The Gov'mint decided America needs a new Cap so chose very unwisely John Walker who was a war 'hero', but with none of Steve's integrity.

Sam & Bucky whooped the doodle out of John, Sam took the shield back.
