Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

Samantha is the name of Jo's next of kin, it's not her real or actual name. This was discussed a while ago.

Harmonypuss · 23/03/2021 08:37

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Seasons 1&2 were filmed in Birmingham but they reference various parts of Manchester.

Most of the residential area stuff is Kings Norton (South Birmingham), all the tunnel roads and the disused fire station where the body was in the freezer in season 1 are all in the city centre.

Buggerthebotox · 23/03/2021 08:49

@Harmonypuss that's amazing.

CherryValanc · 23/03/2021 08:57

Who is Anne-Marie?

Nothing like a thread on Line of Duty to make you realise you know nothing!!

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 23/03/2021 09:02

Anne-Marie was John Corbett’s late mother in series 5. We never saw her but saw a photo, which looked a bit like Jo’s probable mum photo. Maybe?????

Earlybirdcatches · 23/03/2021 09:06

I can’t get onboard with Jo being John’s sister. Different accent, she seems more middle class wouldn’t it have come up in some sort of background check when they recruited John. They knew about his mother.

WhoWants2Know · 23/03/2021 09:08

Yeah, John was adopted by relatives with the surname Corbett after his mother's death. Surely if there was a sibling they would have taken her too.

Earlybirdcatches · 23/03/2021 09:14

John’s mother died before Jo would have been old enough to take the photo with her mother.

drspouse · 23/03/2021 09:15

Surely if there was a sibling they would have taken her too.

Not always, there can be many reasons why you wouldn't do this:
Clash with existing children in the family.
Clash between children in birth family.
New child needs to be only child in family.
Other sibling is now adult.
Etc. etc.

Earlybirdcatches · 23/03/2021 09:15

Think I’m overthinking this!

I thought that all the locks on Jo's door were to indicate a fear of Farida?

Or is it just a fear of being alone?

Maybe she had to leave Farida to protect Farida?

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 23/03/2021 09:19

@Earlybirdcatches

John’s mother died before Jo would have been old enough to take the photo with her mother.
How are we going to get anywhere with our wild theory-mongering if you keep bringing facts and logic into it? You’re right of course. Assuming that Corbett and Davidson are both roughly the same age like their actors, the theory doesn’t stack up.
Miraloma · 23/03/2021 09:23

I think she's more likely connected to Tommy Hunter?

Earlybirdcatches · 23/03/2021 09:24

According to LOD fan web info John and Jo were both born in 1979, but three months apart so they can’t both be Anne Marie’s children.

KaptainKaveman · 23/03/2021 09:25

OMG "earlybird" they're the spit of eachother....Shock

Earlybirdcatches · 23/03/2021 09:28

🤣 I don’t agree.

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 23/03/2021 09:29

so that the alternative AFO team could intercept the arrest of the real Ross Turner, smuggle him out

They dressed the suspect in a forensic suit saying 'prisoner' too didn't they so everyone looked at him but it was hard to tell who anyone else was. The real suspect could easily have been smuggled out in a uniform

Yes! This is how it was done. If Terry wasn't already in that flat he was smuggled in with the fake AFO team, and the real suspect was smuggled out disguised as one of the team.

Amazing. It was all right in front of us. (Jed Mercurio must have been watching the same era of Mission Impossible that I grew up with. Grin )

Just looked up Fando to check out ages and date of John Corbetts death.

Jo is older than John. I feel the fact he ad a sister would have been mentioned when John's past was discussed.

Though it would make her old enough to be the child in the photo and that be Anne-Marie.

Do we assume she is angry with the woman in the photo (it being her and her mother who she doesn't like yet has a photo of and no others) or might it be the girl she's angry with?

Also Farida Jatri said she'd not met Jo's family. We don't know anything about thier relationship do we - length of it, balance, or when or where then met.

That first look (from Farida to Jo) in work which hinted at there being something between them and made me think they were in an relationship or had recently had "relationships". Not that they'd split up.

So is Farida being vengeful or is she genuinely scared?

MaggieFS · 23/03/2021 09:37

I think Jo would have been old enough to be in the photo with Anne-Marie before she died. Let's roll with the wild theories. Anne-Marie as a police informer was worried for her daughter's safety. The daughter, (now going by the name Jo Davidson) was sent to safety with friends/relatives in Scotland where she grew up, hence the accent.

Meanwhile Anne-Marie goes on to have a son and as she can't bear to los a second child, he stays with her until she goes missing.

The photo is taken when Anne-Marie visits Scotland and is the last time Jo sees her.

With regards to both Jo and John being born in 1979, either could have been amended along the way.

Whaddya think? Tons of holes, but anything's possible Grin

CherryValanc · 23/03/2021 09:43

*Fandom not Fando.

It has John Corbett as 39 and Jo "40s" presumably because it's not been confirmed how old the character is. (Probably based on Kelly McDonald's age. Not sure i can think of an actress who is hired to portray a character younger than their actual age (teenage characters excluded).)

Musermum · 23/03/2021 09:51

@SylviaPlath1984

I live in Belfast where this is filmed so most of watching this is me going "oh look! That's just across from the park there!"
Me too, it's my favourite bit. Got distracted during the robbery bit trying to work out where those shops were.... Pretty sure Cavehill Road. Husband spotted Invest NI building.
Dailyhandtowelwash · 23/03/2021 10:17

@drspouse, I think those factors would be less likely to play out in a family adoption. Also given their ages at the time, it's hard to imagine that John wouldn't see the separation from his sister and something else to feel bitter about and for his wife to know about.

And I'm glad someone has finally done the screenshots (well done, earlybird!) but I don't think it's the same woman. 80s hairstyle in play.

MoonCatcher · 23/03/2021 10:25

I hope Jo isn't related to Corbett or Hunter - it would make the plot far too soapy

drspouse · 23/03/2021 10:33

@Dailyhandtowelwash if one child is very disturbed or aggressive, even in a family adoption they wouldn't necessarily be approved to have both children.
