Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

The young Asian cop was Simon Bannerjee (?spelling?). I remember him as being naive and well-meaning but led astray by his more experienced and cynical female partner who dissuaded him from investigating Terry’s case properly.

I assumed that his hopeless attempts to mentor Ryan and turn him away from gang culture were sincere, but ironically it was possibly the “heartfelt” praise that Ryan gave to him in his police interview that got Ryan into the force.

The actor who plays Farida was in the Archers for quite a while which I find a bit disconcerting. She has a very distinctive voice and I keep expecting her to start talking about horses (she played a vet who was an equine specialist)

Placemarking.
Great first episode but I think I'm more confused after reading some of these comments than I was after watching it!

Steve wasn't a DI in series 5. Still a DS.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 22/03/2021 17:00

Steve’s never been a DI. In series 4 he asked Hastings about a promotion as he’d done the inspectors exam and they went off to the pub to discuss, and it was all looking good. Kate also passed the exam and asked about a promotion, and Hastings refused to go for a drink as it would look bad. With her UCO hat on she went off to the pub with Roz to talk careers (it was all subtle as a brick.)
Then Roz accused Hastings and AC12 of being horribly sexist and by the start of series 5 Kate was a DI and Steve still a DS and a bit chippy with Kate about it. So he’s never been a DI and never been demoted.

As I posted upthread, people are confusing Farida with Tatleen, the AC12 Officer who worked alongside Maneet.

I hope this isn't sacrilege but is anyone else not that bothered about who H is? I enjoyed it anyway, and there's so much going on, I find the H hype and Dot's dying declaration and so on all a bit contrived. Don't get me wrong, I like watching, just don't need the overarching H thing.

stevematekatemate · 22/03/2021 17:08

@SingToTheSky

StepHen just makes me think of the Michael McIntyre clip about different spellings of names :o
I proper laugh at that.

I get what you mean. I was thinking while watching this episode that really I’d enjoy it just as much without the longer running stuff. I don’t really see how they can resolve it now without it being a random newbie or Hastings and it CANNOT be Hastings 😭

But then I don’t generally get into organised crime type dramas/books other than LOD - I’m more keen on the smaller cases, individual murder cases with all the emotions/backstory involved etc. So I guess I’m biased.

I agree.

Couldn't give a fuck tbh.

I do think it jumped the shark with Dot's dots.

Love the Lennie James series & Keeley Hawes.

Dot being the caddy.

Thandie Newton & Stephen Graham-meh.

BentBastard · 22/03/2021 17:48

Steve was not a DI in S5. They made a thing of him having to call Kate ma am in the first episode because she in fact had been promoted to DI, above him.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 22/03/2021 17:49

I have forgotten most of what happened before...🤦‍♀️

Tillymintsmama · 22/03/2021 17:50

I found the whole episode completely baffling and had to look up CHIS. They used it soooo often! I'm not sure I'll invest in this one, sadly think it's gone off the boil.

CrystalE · 22/03/2021 17:51

Has anyone worked out what was written on Steve's coffee cup when he had that meeting with ex-girlfriend (think she was ex girlfriend)?

TheSpottedZebra · 22/03/2021 17:52

All this mixing up of the Asians in this thread is a bit off.
They dont all look the same, people.

Pomegranatespompom · 22/03/2021 17:55

Agree @TheSpottedZebra

Maneet was a fabulous character - what happened was so upsetting.
Tbh I do find it a bit much at times - so ruthless.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 22/03/2021 17:56

I get everyone mixed up... I’m lucky if I get the sex right!

And I never remember anyone’s name. It makes watching tv with me so much fun.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 22/03/2021 18:00

Indeed.
TheSpottedZebra · 22/03/2021 18:08

I saw Maneet (actress, obvs) in something else the other day, possibly Midsummer Murders?
And it reminded how much I liked the character and how she really shouldn't have gone like that Sad

And if anyone hasn't seen it, The Great (featuring Sacha Dhawan, aka Prasad) is really good. Black humour, but good.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 22/03/2021 18:17

The Great is wonderful. Not suitable family viewing, not a reliable source of historical information, and sweary as fuck, but really gripping.

mizu · 22/03/2021 18:21

Love The Great - such fun and great acting and glorious costumes and scenery.

My girls loved Maneet ThanksStar

Steve didn't look great, did he?

Earlybirdcatches · 22/03/2021 18:22

Are we definitely going to find out who H is this series? I feel like everything needs answering this time.

Earlybirdcatches · 22/03/2021 18:24

Dot’s dots made no sense. He’s blinking H and dotting 4. What on earth does that mean.

VienneseWhirligig · 22/03/2021 18:24

Anyone notice Steve flashing Kate 4 times (the knobby signal) - morse code for H?

MagicSummer · 22/03/2021 18:31

What happened to Tatleen? I thought she was great and a good Police Officer. Is she in this series, does anyone know?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 22/03/2021 18:35

No sign of Tatleen yet. Chloe, the new AC12 officer, appears to have taken over as efficient information gatherer.

I refuse to believe PC Bannerjee is crooked by the way. He makes the nicest A&E doctor ever.
