Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

I thought I had seen every series, but reading everything here, I've absolutely no recollection of series 5. I'm going to have to watch it all today and catch up before episode 2 of the new series 🤦‍♀️

PatsArrow · 22/03/2021 14:39

Just jumping in.

I really enjoyed it. Like always it will take a while to get the gist on what's going on.

Ted seems sad and broken and Steve is depressed (and addicted to painkillers). I fear that something has happened between the 3 of them. I'm sure we'll get to what.

I'm actually think Kate has definitely left AC12. However, I believe she'll return.

I loved the way Kate and Steve are (still) with each other -

"What kind of nobby signal was that??" 😂

MarieDelaere · 22/03/2021 14:44

Thank you all for recommendation to watch the Diane Morgan six minute recap! I watched it just before the actual programme, thankfully, as I'd never watched the previous series of LoD as I vaguely remembered watching one episode at the start and thinking, 'too violent'.

Turns out I was thinking of Spooks. Duh.

AuntieStella · 22/03/2021 15:15

I think Terry will survive long enough for someone to do a well supported, proper interview with him (possibly getting his photographs?)

At the moment he's safe, because either his lawyer (who managed to get his genuine personal details, and who limited the interview) or his appropriate adult is OCG and so they know he's not been capable of assisting the police.

Steve's addiction to OTC and prescription opiates will lead to him being reeled in by OCG who will be able to supply when all doctors and pharmacists are no longer able to. Will he be able to resist?

If Kate is an UCO in plain sight, it's not for AC-12. Who was it she went to for sign off for her covert op in support of Ted in series 5?

We don't know much about Gail Vella yet, but I thought of Lyra McKee especially as it appears to have been a professional hit

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/03/2021 15:29

Farida didn't work in AC12, did she? Are you thinking of Maneet?

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 15:48

Finally watching. I was getting confused as to why they were doing such a detailed series 5 recap. Then I realised I’d played s5e5 not the new one 😂

Now I’m just confused by the millions of abbreviations and acronyms. Where’s that police lingo dictionary 😬

MoonCatcher · 22/03/2021 15:49

Frida and Harmeet were both in AC12.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/03/2021 15:52

I don't think Farida has ever worked in AC12. lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Farida_Jatri

Who's Harmeet? Was that a typo for Maneet?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 22/03/2021 15:55

Farida worked for Roz Huntley. Tatleen was the officer who worked in AC12 last series.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 22/03/2021 15:57

Tatleen was the one who first raised concerns about Maneet. She was rather poorly served as a character as she just took over from Maneet as the efficient finder-outer.

MoonCatcher · 22/03/2021 16:04

@storminabuttercup

Was Ryan the officer in the flat opposite doing the observations?
I thought I glimpsed him at one point, but very fleetingly
MoonCatcher · 22/03/2021 16:09

@Buggerthebotox

Thanks *@minou123* regarding MM being arrested. I didn't remembr that bit.

Avon: I don't think there's any link between the OCG, Terry, AC12 and the flat.

He was visited by two coppers on S1 after having called them himself but the matter was not followed up (due to lazy coppering as I recall).

The women in the cafe was "Jolly" Rogerson, an old flame of Steve's (and previously attached to Hargreaves' team). Can't remember it it was Serious Crimes or Murder Squad though. She was a DS I think - now DI.

I remember that visit to Terry now, in S1, I think. One of the cops who visited him was a young Asian man. At the end of S1 he visited Ryan's house to give Ryan his card, because he wanted to mentor him. I wonder if he was actually grooming him from the inside, and if we will see him again?
Northernexile · 22/03/2021 16:11

Don't think there's a parallel with Lyra McKee, so was shot accidentally during trouble in Derry, she was just a bystander.

Northernexile · 22/03/2021 16:14

*She was shot

MoonCatcher · 22/03/2021 16:19

Comparing Steve Arnott's face across all 6 series reminds me of looking through the annual secondary school photo for any one kid - growing from a man to a boy before your eyes! He looks so fresh faced and young in S1, later series he looks like he's growing a beard in an effort to look older, now he just is older.

MoonCatcher · 22/03/2021 16:23

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

I don't think Farida has ever worked in AC12. lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Farida_Jatri

Who's Harmeet? Was that a typo for Maneet?

In that case I'm confusing Farida with someone else who worked in AC12. And yes I meant Maneet, I think someone else called her Harmeet earlier?
LadyEloise · 22/03/2021 16:28

Veronica Guerin was a a very well known crime reporter in Ireland who wrote about organised crime.
She was murdered in 19996 on the orders of a drugs lord.
A crime that shocked the country.

There is a Joel Schumacher movie based on her called Veronica Guerin and starring Cate Blanchett as Veronica.
Another movie based on Veronica was called When the Sky Falls.

minou123 · 22/03/2021 16:36

I found this on twitter, but I think it sums up this LOD thread quite well Grin

Line of Duty series 6 - March 2021
ILoveYou3000 · 22/03/2021 16:37

Steve was a DI in season 5. Which would indicate he's been demoted.

Buggerthebotox · 22/03/2021 16:37

Mooncatcher you've got me thinking about that visit to Terry by those PCs in series 1 - in a later series (must be s5) Ryan states in his interview scene that he was inspired to become a copper due to an act of kindness by a PC. I had the impression that the PC - Banerjee I think - was just being nice but what if he WAS grooming Ryan? I think he was going off-piste in other ways too, such as - horrors - walking round the Bog estate unaccompanied and visiting Ryan's home with a burger.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 22/03/2021 16:40

One of the cops who visited him was a young Asian man. Wasn't he part of the fish and chip duo? I always thought that was Prasad who was later proved to be dodgy but actually I don't think they were one and the same, now I think about it.

I found the very full-on use of acronym speak from the off in last night's episode off-putting. I could not remember what everything stood for and 'CHIS' really put me off my stroke!

Farida may well be scared and fear dodgy goings-on BUT her former relationship with Jo is going to make people think it's just revenge.

Kate has never been accused of being H..... funnily enough I had that same thought a few weeks ago!

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 16:43

This series looks more up my street than the last one which I didn’t really enjoy

Farida is really intriguing!

Buggerthebotox · 22/03/2021 16:44

Yes - of course Steve was a DI in S5. Now DS. Interesting. There's a rumour on fandom that he's H because he's StepHen and not Steven. Do we even know?

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 16:46

I found the very full-on use of acronym speak from the off in last night's episode off-putting.

I swear it’s getting worse each series :o

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 16:47

StepHen just makes me think of the Michael McIntyre clip about different spellings of names :o
