Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

Unfortunate, even further delay on top of it not being authorised the night before, stopping for the robbery and the replacement team not able to be in place for quite some time (an hour?).

First episodes are always a bit odd because nothing is resolved, but there were so many comments and things going on, they've chucked loads at us and it remains to be seen which will be significant. I enjoyed it.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 22/03/2021 08:34

Bugger it, I'm going to watch S1 again. There has to be something in there that blows it all apart...🤞🏻🤯

PawFives · 22/03/2021 08:34

Love LOD, even though S5 wasn’t as good and the whole ‘is Ted H’ thing got a bit much. Also less keen on the OCG angle but I guess after 5 series there’s so many tangents and links there (& the red herrings!). Think the flat with umpteen locks is significant, it looked so impersonal except for the photo. Why did Jo say she didn’t have a family? Are we assuming her mother is dead or just dead to her? I wonder if there is a link with Tommy Hunter or are we just reaching because she’s Scottish and the family intrigue?

stevematekatemate · 22/03/2021 08:35

Do we know what Ted was investigated for?

Buggerthebotox · 22/03/2021 08:35

I'll be kicking myself at the end of the series for not spotting clues.

At the moment we've got the missing freezer, together with semen samples. I'm hoping to get some closure on the names on Dot's list. We've got parallels between Michael Farmer and Terry (at least Terry's brief is awake) and at a stretch to the Jill Dando case.

Buckells knows Kate's undercover history, doesn't he? Hmm

I'm not speculating yet on Jo's history but the security at the flat has to be a clue to something.I think Corbett/Clayton may have had a sister?

Lots of fridge references - Terry's freezer, KMs big pink Smeg and do we know what happened to the fridge from the brothel in s5? That one was also being used to store semen.

The missing freezer is irrelevant as we know it had Jackie Laverty’s body in it and that was put in John Corbett’s body bag last series. I think it was only mentioned as a nod to that storyline for viewers.

No one from AC12 has ever met Terry before. We were discussing how much the viewer knows that they don’t as the series goes on. Re the printshop I can only assume that this is just the police’s regular patch and the fact that the flat and printshop are close by doesn’t mean anything. Again I think that shot was more a reminder for viewers.

I think everyone in her new team knows Kate’s background so Buckells has no privileged knowledge there. I snorted at the way they referred to her within ten seconds as Kate Fleming, so we know she wasn’t using one of her cunning Kate F disguises. Whether or not there are layers to that we don’t yet know but on the face of it she’s ex-AC12.

Earlybirdcatches · 22/03/2021 09:00

She was wearing her undercover ‘I’m not a threat’ big, casual knitted jumper though.

I can’t remember the specifics of what Ted did wrong in season 5. Where did he get the 100k from and why did he wipe his laptop?

awaynboilyurheid · 22/03/2021 09:03

Not very keen on Kelly McDonalds character at all, she seemed very wish washy for someone leading an armed police squad, hope she improves , my OH actually said has she ever acted before? She seems very wooden.
Love Ted and hod yer wheesht, we say that, so many sayings in N Irish same as Scottish.

Thought the interview was awful, agree with others that said the line of questioning used totally confusing language, but this could be deliberate to show how badly they are dealing with case and not understanding the suspects needs or that he was being used by criminals.

diddl · 22/03/2021 09:04

The link to the easter egg clip.

The rolling headlines!

"waistcoats back in fashion shock", "man floats up Lagan"

Buggerthebotox · 22/03/2021 09:11

Earlybird: Ted got the £100k from Mark Moffatt, supposedly as compensation for a bad property investment. It was never traced back to Moffatt.

As far as I can remember, £50k of it was found at Ted's hotel room and he also gave some money (I can't remember if it was £50k or not) to Corbett's wife at the end of S5.

So dodgy as hell. I think Moffatt then disappeared (he was a fed rep in a previous series but had since retired).

NoWordForFluffy · 22/03/2021 09:19

I think Kelly has had Botox as her forehead wasn't very giving when she had her concerned face on (99% of the time!). No criticism of that, I just thought her forehead didn't join in with the rest of her face!

PennyRoyal · 22/03/2021 09:22

[quote Netaporter]For anyone who is wondering about the significance of Gail Vella and didn’t spot this clue in the trailer released earlier this month, this might explain it.

That's fab! Thank you.

So were they discussing the AC12 setup at the meeting upstairs that Ted wasn't invited to?

thecatsthecats · 22/03/2021 09:22

It makes sense that Kate's undercover could only last so long, but it leaves open the possibility that her final undercover role is as herself - disaffected AC12 officer.

I wasn't certain, but I thought that part of the issue for AC12 is that they were no longer the "go to" AC unit - hence Steve handling minor HR issues, and the surprise of Farida coming to them. Especially given that Buckells and everyone else knows Kate came from them.

If my memory serves me correctly: Gill Biggoloe gave evidence that Mark Moffatt did give Ted money.

Mark Moffatt was arrested and confessed to giving the money to Ted. But he said he gave Ted £100k, but only £50k was found in Ted's hotel.

Then at the end of s5, we saw Ted approach John Corbetts wife with a brown envelope.

I think we are to assume Ted did have £100k; £50k found by AC3 and the other £50k Ted gives to John Corbetts wife

AvonCallingBarksdale · 22/03/2021 09:28

I loved it but have a couple of questions for those more observant than me!

  1. If Terry is the same guy whose flat has been used by OCG in previous episodes wouldn’t someone have recognised him in a “oh it’s you again, this must all be connected and perhaps you need some more support as you keep being cuckooed” And
  2. I can’t remember who the woman is that Steve met in the cafe? They kissed and she’s obvs more senior than him now.

Thanks Smile

Buggerthebotox · 22/03/2021 09:44

Thanks @minou123 regarding MM being arrested. I didn't remembr that bit.

Avon: I don't think there's any link between the OCG, Terry, AC12 and the flat.

He was visited by two coppers on S1 after having called them himself but the matter was not followed up (due to lazy coppering as I recall).

The women in the cafe was "Jolly" Rogerson, an old flame of Steve's (and previously attached to Hargreaves' team). Can't remember it it was Serious Crimes or Murder Squad though. She was a DS I think - now DI.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 22/03/2021 09:51

Buggerthebotox thank you, up to speed now Smile

Netaporter · 22/03/2021 09:52

I think a couple of points need investigation Grin

  1. The series choice the bbc chose to repeat before the new series.
  2. The fact that Steve has not received promotions but everyone around him has. Including Kate, the ex GF, Buckells etc. I think there is something in why they are labouring the issue.
Pomegranatespompom · 22/03/2021 09:53

Is the name Samantha important ???

Confused already ..

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 22/03/2021 09:59

Samantha Davidson is the person listed as Jo Davidson’s next of kin, which gives the lie to her claim that she doesn’t have a family. Mother? Sister? Daughter? Wife? (The smart money is on mother; wife or daughter seem extremely unlikely).

The Next of Kin field was also what informed us that Kate had split up with her husband, because hers lists her parents rather than him.

I went back to this bit. Next to the names, both Samantha and Kate’s parents, it didn’t say next of kin. It probably is but we didn’t, as far as I could see, read the words next of kin.
NoWordForFluffy · 22/03/2021 10:07

It definitely said NoK on Kate's, as I pointed out to DH that it meant she definitely wasn't with her husband in this series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2021 10:09

Yes surprised no one has clocked on about Terry. Bless him

Wonder if jo is the link and related to previous now dead people - tho is Tommy hunter dead. Can’t rem. and Ann marie - the linger camera shot on pic is a big clue in jo,s flat

I still like martin in the nest. Clean shaven

storminabuttercup · 22/03/2021 10:15

Was Ryan the officer in the flat opposite doing the observations?

stevematekatemate · 22/03/2021 10:25

You are right. I was looking at the file Steve gave to Ted. Steve also looked on a computer and it does say NoK.
