Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

@GreenTeaPingPong YES!!!

@GreenTeaPingPong

People saying Kelly Macdonald is 'from Nanny Macphee' makes me feel old. She was, and always will be, Kelly Macdonald from Trainspotting.
I'm 34 and she's 'from trainspotting' for me too
Wingedharpy · 21/03/2021 22:54

I also thought the "local oddball" comment was in keeping with Ted's character.......maybe it will come back to bite him on the bum later on should he use it again?

Steve must be extremely constipated with all that codeine - no wonder he's not happy.

Agree with pp's DH, Kate's storyline is she's being set up to report to AC12, and, because everyone knows she used to work for them, the only way in for her to get the info she needs, will be to have a lesbian affair with Scottish boss police woman whose name I can't remember.

I think boss policewoman's handling of the interview with Terry, was deliberate - she knew he'd get very anxious and clam up?
She also said something to her boss along the lines of, "if we want this to go the way we want we need to be/do something or other" - they're both corrupt?

Honestly, I surprise myself sometimes!

Well I need to watch the whole thing again.

Not as intense as previous openers but I feel we’ve been given a lot of clues / info that might not make sense now but .....

Not sure about Kelly M’s character. She seemed anxious / on edge from the start.

Also have a massive crush on Steve Arnott and his waistcoats.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/03/2021 22:55

Yep. Always Trainspotting for me too!

putcarpetdown · 21/03/2021 22:55

Hmm, is Ryan a red herring and what about 'the list' that did for Danny Waldren and Lindsey Denton?

Yes...?

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

I think we’re all focusing on the delay during the route to the flats rather than focusing on the initial delay from the previous night when approval was held up.
I didn’t understand that bit as I thought Boss just said that he was going to get himself a coffee first but Jo then told the other guy that he hadn’t given approval. But I just thought I must have got it wrong.

‘Local oddball’ is a reference to the Jill Dando / Barry George case. It was a phrase George used about himself.

putcarpetdown · 21/03/2021 22:59

wingedharpy she said 'if we want this' etc 'we need the name of the chis'
who was promptly thrown from a high building

but did she say it in a way suggesting she was actually saying 'you'd better throw him off that building sharpish'
or was she wanting him to lean on someone to lean on the other plod to give the name up? discuss.

Oh, that's interesting to know. Makes sense now.

Series 1 lined up for a LoD bingeathon..
Weeks of wait & delayed gratification- all the more exquisite the pleasure of rolling though the first five series & segue into series 6.

Yes! Trainspotting for me too.

I must be very old, because I don't know what Nanny MacPhee is Grin

Wingedharpy · 21/03/2021 23:01

@Chickychickydodah : Do you think you've sent a text?
You haven't.😉

IamHyouweegobshite · 21/03/2021 23:03

Whoop my user name is now relevant! So pleased Lod is back on, defanitely dodgy with the kids doing the armed robbery. I called the affair with Farida, but is she going to ac12 for revenge? Why the fort Knox locks on Jo's door? Omg the amount of meds Steve is on? Was he serious about leaving ac12 or getting info?

FriendofDorothy · 21/03/2021 23:03

Well there we go. So many questions. Such a long time to wait.

Furries · 21/03/2021 23:05

I loved seasons 1-4. Was left feeling very underwhelmed by season 5.

I bloody loved tonight’s episode, and am hopeful that this is going to be a great season. I think the is Kate/isn’t Kate undercover thought will give a good twist to the story. Jo character is a tricky one - lots of “pointers” towards being a bit dodgy, but we know how Jeff likes to mislead (and mislead again!).

Love all the little links too - definitely want to know what happened to the fridge/freezer.

Got a feeling Jo might “play” Kate a bit to get a reaction from Farinda - to build a profile of her being unstable? Definitely dodgy that she kept the keys.

I had the same thought re Terry being driven away at the end - wherever he’s going, it’s not going to be safe!

I might have missed this, but what was the murdered journalist covering/researching? Or what were her articles about?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 21/03/2021 23:06

I think Kate is definitely working undercover but perhaps not for AC12. Maybe AC9?

Rollergirl11 · 21/03/2021 23:07

I also remember Kelly McDonald mainly from Trainspotting. Not at all envious that she doesn’t appear to have aged in the last 25 years either!

idontwanttodiet · 21/03/2021 23:07

CHIS = informant

I thought it was obvious that Jo and Farida were an item earlier on in the episode when Jo said she was thinking of finishing work and Farida said the same. There were lingering looks then.

Loved the first episode but Jo just appears too wet to have got to her rank. Not sure if it's bad acting or if it's intentional.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 21/03/2021 23:08

Reporter killed - local ‘oddball’ framed...

Shades of Jill Dando

minou123 · 21/03/2021 23:09

@AlecTrevelyan006

Ooo, I like that theory.

And Kate is doing a "double double" bluff. A bit like a double agent.

I would be useless as an undercover agent. Within 5 mins I would get my story wrong.

putcarpetdown · 21/03/2021 23:09

it did seem odd that there was not one mention of why a journalist would be a target - she must have been pissing someone off - strange not to allude to motive for her killing at all.
there was one point where kelly M cop said there were always two theories 'one it was a hit' and did she say what the second was?

Ellmau · 21/03/2021 23:13

It is set in September/0ctober 2020, why is no one wearing masks?
