Anybody know when it starts? All I've found is this Radio Times article saying it will start before the end of March this year. www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-season-six-release-date/ Kelly Macdonald is due to guest star.

Can't wait!

(Apologies if there's another thread, I couldn't find one.)

@IdblowJonSnow

Laverty's body was never found. That's why the fridge/freezer wasn't missing. I don't think Jo is going to be bent. Looks like Kate is undercover already. I think this series is going to be great. Recently rewatched S5, glad I did, there is always so much going on!
It was! Watch them again, you're missing bits.

@Ellmau

It is set in September/0ctober 2020, why is no one wearing masks?
Because it's not real life.
putcarpetdown · 21/03/2021 23:14

so was Vella a Jill Dando style 'journalist/presenter' ie famous or an investigative journalist (who tend to be a bit more camera shy)

so attract 'oddball' stalking type attention (not much mileage for LOD tangled web of corruption) or hit cos she was 'onto something'

Like a pp way down thread, I also noticed jo was Samantha on the files. Had me confused for a while! I wonder why the names were different?
Or am I totally mistaken!!

I'd have to watch it again, but I thought "Samantha" was the next of kin.

I thought the papers were background info on each officer and that part had "Nexf of Kin" next to it.

Which makes me wonder if Samantha is her mum and this is going to be complex.

We re-watched S1 last year and really early on it was apparent Cottan was the caddy, it wasn't made obvious it was a Big Clue so you didn't join the dots up.

They'll come back to why Gail was murdered I'm sure.

It was filmed before COVID so early last year. Parts were suspended and resumed Autumn last year. What you are seeing now was filmed over a year ago.

I’m disappointed this seems to be leading back to the same old H/ OCG etc story line. I was bored of that before the last season. It would be great for them to do something totally fresh and new. There must be other corruption they could look into!

OysterMonkey · 21/03/2021 23:23

Second theory was stalker / obsessed fan.

makingababy · 21/03/2021 23:24

@putcarpetdown

it did seem odd that there was not one mention of why a journalist would be a target - she must have been pissing someone off - strange not to allude to motive for her killing at all. there was one point where kelly M cop said there were always two theories 'one it was a hit' and did she say what the second was?
Second theory was a stalker.
Fiddlersgreen · 21/03/2021 23:24

@Janus

I watched the last series this week - Corbett had a sister, could that be Mac Donald looking at the family photo in this episode I really think it was the same mum, Anne Marie??
I thought that too as the woman in the photo looked a lot like Anne-Marie but then I thought maybe I’m reading too much into everything and looking for things that aren’t there 😂
Reg15notice · 21/03/2021 23:24

Loved this opener. A slow burn but def feels like this is going to be a greatest hits series: Buckells, dodgy freezers and the planted semen. Good to see Terry back and Farida (tho didn't see the relationship and break up coming). Davidson must have a link to the OCG via mum. Potentially a witness or maybe she is Hunter's daughter. Roll on next Sunday...

purplelampshade · 21/03/2021 23:25

Parts of Jackie Laverty were found. Season 5 with John Corbett’s body.

Titsinknicks · 21/03/2021 23:27

Why is no one wearing masks?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

OysterMonkey · 21/03/2021 23:28

@minou123 & @tarapinn - re your posts below, which I can’t quote because minou already quoted tarapinn!
I posted about the Samantha / Jo thing.
I’m going to rewatch it tomorrow. So I’ll see if it is Jo, or NoK. And report back, obviously .....

Changed name so that can't be linked to other threads I've been on!

I find it fascinating how people think LoD is in any way realistic! I am a DC on an ACU. I've only recently caught up on LoD as my DH banned me from watching it with him as I shout at the tele too much GrinGrin

What annoys me is that the writers go to effort of using correct terminology (such as CHIS) but then get other details soooo wrong! My biggest pet hate is that every suspect interview in every series has been AWFUL!! For many different reasons. Real interviews are nothing like this. And for this latest one, as well as an appropriate adult there would also be an intermediary to ensure Terry understood questions properly.

Also, there is no rule that officers are entitled to be interviewed by a person at least one rank above! That is complete nonsense... I have no idea why this has become a thing throughout the series. For a start, inspectors and above never interview anyone!!

And my last little rant.. the Police regs changed at the beginning of 2020 so I'm expecting every mention of the police regs to be wrong in this series!

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 21/03/2021 23:32

Do we think Farida is obsessive and going to go full-on stalker or do we think Jo is gaslighting her?

I assume that the backstory with Gail Vella will come out in coming weeks. Heaven knows there’s enough murky plot to keep a decent journalist in copy for years as long as she watched her back well enough.

As Jo turned the key in her seventh lock I thought “I’m sure I read an interview about how KM was preparing for the big interview scenes. SURELY they couldn’t have been lying about that in the publicity to cover the fact that she’s about to be stabbed in her own home in episode 1, OR COULD THEY??!” dear Lord the paranoia this show gives you.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 21/03/2021 23:36

Terry’s interview was very upsetting, but I was comparing it with Michael Farmer (the vulnerable murder suspect from series 4) with the catatonic duty solicitor which was so much worse. At least this solicitor was awake and gave some vague signs of caring and looking out for him.

LaganinaBubble · 21/03/2021 23:37

Hi all, (delighted with my new name 😀)
Question please; is Farida the same character who was pregnant and worked in AC12 previously?

AwonderfulNewName · 21/03/2021 23:40

My first thought was - it's Helena Ravenclaw! :D

theliverpoolone · 21/03/2021 23:40

People asking about masks - I imagine this was written and filmed before anyone knew we'd all be wearing masks. It was quite far into lockdown 1 before the rules about masks came in.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 21/03/2021 23:41

I think you may be thinking of the tragically deceased Maneet Bindra. Laganinabubble.

Northernexile · 21/03/2021 23:41

No, that was Maneet, she was killed in the last series. Faroda was in S4

tinylittleyou · 21/03/2021 23:42

Season one was nearly 10 years ago so not surprising lots of us can’t remember a great deal from previous seasons

TedisnotH · 21/03/2021 23:42

No, that was PC Maneet, who was murdered by Ryan from the OCG in S5
