I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

Oops I think I meant Fiona not Liz above! With not wanting a pen to remind her of the police.

I felt awful for Ram too when his dad literally wouldn’t even look at him. So cruel. Still happy for Ram to bring him food etc though (quite like Liz’s mother in that sense - I hate you but depend on you). It doesn’t surprise me that we don’t know why yet, he’s very much a closed book probably as way of dealing with that as well as the racism, but I’m hoping he will break down and explain it all, whether he was the murderer or not. It can’t be as simple as them not liking him being a policeman surely?

I was pleased for Liz snapping at her mum. It annoyed me though that she’d denied living with Fiona at first. She of all people should’ve known they’d find out she lied Hmm

Sunny mentioned that the sexual assault could have triggered memories in Fiona - it might be another reason she pretended she was fostered.

How the hell are they going to resolve all these threads in less than an hour? 😭

I really hope Cassie is ok. I will be very disappointed if not. At a time like this we need a positive upbeat ending!

SingToTheSky · 23/03/2021 08:47

Liz seemed almost happy when mentioning Ram I thought. Because she was relieved to tell the truth? Or because she wanted to put him in the frame? Or does she really believe him?

Chicchicchicchiclana · 23/03/2021 08:51

Grin at Fiona's final confession @PintPot!

Butterpuffed - I don't think we know why Ram's father doesn't speak to him, other than he said early on that his family wanted him to be a doctor or a lawyer, not a copper.

Yes, I found Fiona's confession to her kids/step-kids (still not sure) very implausible and teetering on the ridiculous but I suppose they had to get a whole load of exposition in very quickly.

It honestly hadn't occurred to me that someone crashed into Cassie deliberately! I thought it was just random, she had an accident because she was distracted Sad.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 23/03/2021 08:56

It might have been Cassie’s dad’s partner.

SingToTheSky · 23/03/2021 08:57

It would fit with the story that it was one of the four, whether deliberate or because they too were distracted, but it seems pretty implausible really, especially if it was actually to try and kill her. How would they have known the exact timing at those crossroads?

I really don’t think she can be dead. She will be alive for the episode anyway, she will solve that case from her hospital bed! Maybe they’ll push her into retiring and losing the pension as she’s not done her 3 months - perhaps she’d be glad in a way despite the money but she won’t want to leave a case unsolved.

Clawdy · 23/03/2021 08:58

Ooh, never thought of that!

Clawdy · 23/03/2021 09:00

Cassie's dad's partner, I meant.

fizbosshoes · 23/03/2021 09:01

I was waiting for something to happen each time she was distracted by or picked up her phone bear the end, but that still shocked me.

I was also really shocked about Fionas confession to her children. And yes a slight element of black comedy the way she just kept going and talking faster, despite the knocks on the door, and obvious bewilderment and distress of the children.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 23/03/2021 09:01

I think she'd probably be OK to retire on ill-health after that accident!

We did find the scene with Fiona telling her kids extremely funny (and I do think it's her kids, not step-kids, after that) because of the partner's facial reactions. He has an air of Duncan Preston and it made me think of an episode of Acorn Antiques.

MorrisZapp · 23/03/2021 09:03

Dean needs a spin off series. So much to unpack. His mum was absolutely brilliant.

LabbyNoona · 23/03/2021 09:04

@JayAlfredPrufrock

It might have been Cassie’s dad’s partner.
Oh come on 😂
jay55 · 23/03/2021 09:19

I think once Fiona had decided she was confessing, it was a dam bursting and she was telling everyone everything.

MoonCatcher · 23/03/2021 09:35

Might be over stretching here but could Ram or Liz possibly be...
H?
Grin

🤣🤣🤣 love it. Nothing like a TV crossover.
fizbosshoes · 23/03/2021 09:36

@MoonCatcher

😂😂😂

fizbosshoes · 23/03/2021 09:37

I'm a bit scared to get back into LoD. At least we have breaks in unforgotten to recap and catch up with what's going on. I'm going to be pausing LoD every 2 mins!

Halsall · 23/03/2021 09:39

@fizbosshoes the actor playing Liz's boss is Charles Dale - 'Big Mac' in Casualty and yes, he was in Corrie as well (I don't watch it but he was Dennis Stringer, apparently).

Kate Williams was basically in just about every London-based sitcom on TV in the 70s and 80s.

I fear they can't let Cassie survive this one, but I can't make up my mind which of the suspects it's going to be Sad

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 23/03/2021 09:49

@MoonCatcher

I don't know if the scene with Fiona and her children was meant to be funny, but it was Confused
It was gobsmackingly hilarious.

Kate Williams, huh? Yes, firstly a wonderfully engaging actor, but she and Sheila Hancock really make me shake my head at the infuriating negativity I see so often on MN. "Am I too old to wear trainers / a coat / a dress at 40?" "Am I too old to start a degree at 35?" "Should I give up all my dreams at 25 because my boyfriend doesn't approve?"

It must be rather splendid to be an elderly female actor right now.

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 09:55

Sheila hancock is H !! 🤣🤣
Btw ( a bit scared to reopen this, but I loved Cassie's shirt last night, Any idea where its from?)

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 09:58

DH thought that it was a random accident also, as she wasn't concentrating.. hw thinks the scenes showing the others driving is a red herring.

But I thought the side on car was stationary and the accelerated.. ?

PolloDePrimavera · 23/03/2021 10:09

I thought it happened at a crossroads, say traffic lights. That she checked her phone, saw lights were green and then drove on?
Stop with the crossovers! It's taking me a moment to realise! 😄 I like Sheila Hancock as H though. This series is so well acted.

dogsdinnerlady · 23/03/2021 10:09

Probably been mentioned before but is there some significance in the fact that every character has a conflicted relationship with their parents? Otherwise I can't see the relevance of all the family backstory stuff.

PolloDePrimavera · 23/03/2021 10:10

Oh and sorry to bring this up, but I quite like Fran's style: it's like a Toast/Brora crossover. I told my DH this and he looked at me like I'd finally lost it.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 23/03/2021 10:11

I adore Kate Williams. She is a wonderful character actor, but a lot of her roles have been women who feel like the 'grown ups' of my London childhood so I usually feel oddly safe when I see her on screen.
