I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

@CherryValanc

I think it might be a few of them rather than one. Possibly the three men - the women's crime is "losing" Fiona's blood and other things separately before.

Though in all honesty. I don't know.

Is it Monday yet...

Sadly no, it is still nowhere near Monday, it’s not fair 🤬😭
Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2021 20:18

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I slightly interested in the religion side of Rams story. His father and brother are Sikh and wear turbans. Ram has short hair too (which could be reason for no turban). But I wonder if his dad's annoyance is due to this, rather than Ram not being a doctor.

DH and I were wondering about that from the first episode.

I've worked with a number of Sikhs, and the turban, together with the uncut hair, ia a HUGE part of their faith.

Tho in ee

Only one of the 3 brothers wears a turban

RigaBalsam · 17/03/2021 20:28

I think the children must be Fiona's as there was Mother's day cards in the background in a scene where she was on the phone.

Those who enjoy programmes like this may also enjoy Scott and Bailey - can't remember which side, sorry, but the lady police boss, Jill, is my hero.
Love Scott and Bailey. I think it's sometimes shown on itv3

Sure there was a thing about md in e1

They weren’t keen on it or she didn’t want them to have to give her a card etx

Hazy

But sure not her kids

CattyCactus · 17/03/2021 21:33

I was trying to work out how old the kids are. As her partner said they’d been together for what, 16 years?
I thought the kids looked younger than that....

SingToTheSky · 17/03/2021 21:38

Did they specifically say they’d been together 17? Or was it that she’d kept it from him for 17, so feasibly they’d known each other while he was married to the kids’ mum (whether they had an affair or not)?

OneMorePieceofCheese · 17/03/2021 22:28

I was also wondering why Fiona isn't married to her partner. I mean, yes, in the real world there are lots of couples like this, but as a screen writer's choice, a couple together for 17 years and not married... there needs to be a Reason.

Is she already married? Is he?

CherryValanc · 17/03/2021 22:44

I think it might have been "in the past 17 years"

I got the idea the children weren't hers. But there was a mother's day card displayed in the house

CattyCactus · 17/03/2021 22:46

Good point, yes, I think he did say she’d kept it from him for 17 years. So they’ve known each other 17 years, but clearly may not have been a couple for 17 years.
🤔🕵🏻‍♀️

Ulysses · 18/03/2021 06:37

I binged the previous 3 series at the start of lockdown last year. I don’t think I’ve been playing all that close attention this series so I’m going to watch them back to back.

I do find it strange that in the first episode of this one, that much was made of Cassie and the group of probationers being around the same time 30 years ago and nothing come of it.

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 18/03/2021 06:50

There's still time Ulysses - though I'd assumed that this chronological coincidence was there simply to underline Cassie's avenging fury against an entire planet of police.

Ulysses · 18/03/2021 07:26

It’s too convenient a coincidence if you ask me.

BruceAndNosh · 18/03/2021 07:36

So will Cassie retire once she has served enough time for her pension?
What will that mean for the series?

I'd like to see Sunny promoted to lead investigator, who in the office could become second in command.... Fran or FridgeBoy?

DinosaurDiana · 18/03/2021 07:39

I think that it might be the person who was persuaded to ‘lose’ the blood test that might be blackmailing Dean.
I think the brother of Ram will bring him down. He’s got that ‘angry that he had to stay and look after the parents’ look about him.
And the land lady of the pub is obviously going to be the final nail in the coffin.
It’s just fabulous !
And Cassie isn’t going to move with her boyfriend, she’s going to stay and do another 100 series !

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 18/03/2021 07:39

If Fran gets promotion she should ask for a wardrobe allowance.Wink

(In all honesty her clothes appear to be decent quality. They just maybe shouldn't all be worn together.)

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 18/03/2021 07:45

Ohhhhh ... I'd forgotten the handsome brother. Now you mention it, he is perhaps too invisibly long suffering and nice. I hadn't noticed/considered the specific resentment you mention. Oh dear. Not that lovely Ram has done anything that could 'bring him down' ...

Actually - the stock in Ram's parents' shop does tend to feature heavily when he visits. But surely mere cloth couldn't be the subject of a major smuggling ring requiring eventual arrest, humiliation and disaster?

Could be this. The whole thing seems to be about the policing system. Cassie not been allowed sick leave despite years of servicd. Blood disappearing. Ram have multiple displinary incidents and getting away with it. And so on
1990s · 18/03/2021 07:59

Just looked up Phaldut Sharma (for more of that smouldering Wink) how old do you think he is? I was surprised....

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/03/2021 08:04

Late 50s @1990s?

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 18/03/2021 08:23

He's exactly the age I would have assumed. (But then, I'm aware he's been around for a while.)

Which brings me back to ... I was recalling last night how I was calling Ariyon Bakare 'Lord Beautiful' all through the His Dark Materials thread. He's been in loads of other stuff, including a hundred years on Doctors - but never attracted my attention until he played Lord Boreal. It was the role, his acting and, crucially, the character's wardrobe that made him unfeasibly gorgeous.

Same here. Phaldut Sharma's portrayal of this role - swagger and wardrobe - makes him suddenly of interest to my imagination ...

Again, Ruth Wilson in HDM - half the comments were on her acting skills - the other half, people squealing with envy over the character's clothes.

1990s · 18/03/2021 08:23

Blush I thought he was about 40??! And the character too. He looks good.

dayswithaY · 18/03/2021 08:39

I'm falling for Ram too! Hope he's not a murderer, or Dean as he seems so kind.

Can't get over how a police trainer was able to recall in perfect detail, each one of the recruits from over 30 years ago, he must have trained hundreds of people! I guess they had to throw that in to move the plot along, same as the witness who saw two men chasing another in the dark.

I wish we could see more Sheila Hancock, I thought her character would be more central. I think this is the best Unforgotten ever, I just live for Monday nights, it makes me so happy. Embarrassing, but I blame lockdown.

Maybe it was used in the mummifying?? Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/03/2021 08:58

I hadn't noticed Ram's beautiful mouth until someone mentioned it upthread, and I went back to re-watch solely for that purpose

My word - it IS beautiful, isn't it,
