I saw a trailer for this the other evening but DC were running around and being loud so I missed most of it. Does anyone know when it’s starting please? I don’t want to miss it as it’s brilliant!

I really like Cassie, but she was more light -hearted in the earlier series, I remember her singing the opening lines of the song " Sunny" when she met Sunny! Can't really imagine her doing that now.

Decorhate · 16/03/2021 22:07

Did anyone notice that Fiona’s other half said they had been partners for 17 years - but his kids look younger than that. Did he mean business partners?

I assumed they both were parents to the kids, but it's quite likely I missed it being made clear right at the start that they're not. It's what I love AND hate about Unforgotten - you don't realise the significance of tiny early details until much later!
PursuingProxemicExactitude · 16/03/2021 22:42

I noticed - and wondered why we were being given this piece of information just then.

I admit I'm a bit confused about the children. Fiona doesn't seem to have a maternal relationship to them - but that doesn't fit the chronology we've been given.

@Blondeshavemorefun

Those short Trousers were awful

I did notice them

Suprised I didn’t comment on them 😂

I also noticed those short trousers. Like clown's trousers.

Giggled at the comment someone made about being at half mast 🤣🤣.

Reminded me of the garden designer who does the budget garden design on the garden programme with Angela Scanlon... His trousers are also at half mast

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2021 23:20

Sure Fiona isn’t mum. She’s step mum isn’t she

Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2021 06:59

Can anyone fill me in about Sunny's partner? I seem to have missed this bit.. I thought that he was divorced and living with his daughters , but now he has moved into house with partner( and presumably his girls as they are thrilled to have their own bedrooms). When did they meet?

Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2021 07:02

Hmm...but Dean .. maybe.. Ram is too obviously where we are meant to look. I agree that Sunny was really brilliant in the interview scene with him and Cassie.. He looked so uncomfortable, but yes Cassie, I think is allowing her anger to get the better of her..

I also thought they were his kids from a previous relationship and she was their step mum. Maybe she was the OW?

diddl · 17/03/2021 07:21

"I also thought they were his kids from a previous relationship and she was their step mum."

I thought that too.

When he was telling them about Mother's Day & she made some comment.

footballfan1963 · 17/03/2021 07:44

@CherryValanc

Oh this is a shame. Male actor = concentrate on talent but female actor = negatively concentrate on clothes and looks.

😔

Completely agree. Enough with the bitchy comments about clothing.
footballfan1963 · 17/03/2021 07:48

What the hell is wrong with cropped trousers??

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 17/03/2021 07:59

Enough with the bitchy comments about clothing.

Women with opinions on clothes chosen for a fictional character in a TV show are 'bitchy'?

Okay ....

Cowbells · 17/03/2021 08:04

@PursuingProxemicExactitude

Another thing ...

Matthew Walsh's brother Clive. Has there been DNA or other evidence linking the unfortunate five to the body? Is it impossible that they did indeed chase him into an allotment and see him fall - and then Clive Walsh came and finished him off? Because we have no independent evidence of what he was doing. At all.

Oh, I love this theory. Explains why he kept low and didn't push for more details. I'm hedging my bets now...
Cowbells · 17/03/2021 08:08

If it helps, I find Phaldut Sharma's combination of swagger, muttering and transcendent uxoriousness powerfully sexy.

And there was me just thinking he had nice eyes. I'm getting old! Grin

MoonCatcher · 17/03/2021 08:08

Interesting, but wouldn't explain how he ended up in the ex PC's freezer?

MoonCatcher · 17/03/2021 08:10

That was to Cowbells and Pursuing

Yes ! What about Vera ?! Surely no one can say that the lovely Brenda Blethyn looks good in those costumes ..
Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2021 08:14

Head and hands being mummified woul explain why no smell or fluids in the lock up.. which then suggests that they must havebeen kept elsewhere first so they would have dried out...

Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2021 08:18

Mind you, I do have a waxed rain hat I use camping that DH refers to as my 'Vera' hat !

Yes, I resent bitchy. I'm not bitchy, I don't comment on the attractiveness/slimness/fuckability of female actors. I don't comment on the clothes they wear in their private lives. I don't give a shit. But commenting on the items of clothing (NOT the person wearing them) that have been chosen for a character by wardrobe in a TV programme is not that.

Women are allowed to make critical comments about production choices without being bitches.

Cowbells · 17/03/2021 08:23

@MoonCatcher

Interesting, but wouldn't explain how he ended up in the ex PC's freezer?
True. Unless he was an informer against his brother or the PC found out and covered for him for some other reason. How many more episodes are there?
PursuingProxemicExactitude · 17/03/2021 08:23

@MoonCatcher

Oh my! I've had a thought that might explode my brain.

What if the corpse turned up in that freezer by coincidence? Imagine if you work in a house clearance firm and want to get rid of an inconvenient body. Wouldn't it seem simple to deposit it in the household possession of a recently deceased person? Making it - you'd think - impossible to investigate the case because no witness. You would assume you'd brought the problem to an end. Unfortunately you choose the one man in England whose past associations mean that four former police cadets have their dreadfully shameful but carefully concealed historical misdemeanours brought to light - even though they are genuinely innocent of this particular crime?

I know it's a stretch ...

Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2021 08:28

But why would you leave the head and hands where they were then? Surely you would move them from the lock up to somewhere else also ?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 17/03/2021 08:29

Or actually, maybe not even critical comments. I assume that the choice is meant to indicate that clothes are not a priority for Fran (not having even noticed the trousers I can only comment on the coat), or that she buys clothes that don't fit her (charity shop maybe?) for a reason. Or that she has a very quirky personality and likes jolie laide style clothing? They are there to be noticed and give us more information about her. All wardrobe choices are meant to help us understand who the characters 'are' in subtle or not so subtle ways, even if we don't realise we're doing it.

Posters have noticed that Ram doesn't wear a turban, and his brother and father do. Dean wears 'safe' jumpers to show that he's non-threatening dad. Fiona wears the florals of a (fairly stereotypical) counsellor. Sunny has his famous bag, about which much conversation. Cassie wears plain and fairly masculine clothes, from which we will all draw our own subconscious conclusions about her approach to life and the universe.
