It’s cold, dark and there’s a pandemic but one bright light is the new series of drag race tomorrow. The last series was so joyful and really put British drag back on the map. I hope this series is just as good Already love Ginny Lemon, who are your picks to win

Thats such a shame, poor Cherry!! I didn't mind her and had half hoped she might do a traveller style wedding dress sometime. I hope she is doing ok

I love Tia Kofi, she's hilarious and completely steals the scene with her talking heads. However I can see why the other queens are annoyed that she keeps getting a free pass. I agree with PP, they are definitely keeping her on for Snatch Game.

Going back to last week, I was sad that Cherry Valentine left so early - it can't be an easy life being both a traveller and a drag queen. Apparently she got lots of racist abuse on social media

That's very sad. I thought it was hugely brave for Cherry to do Drag Race, I wish she had gone further.

If a show that some saw as racist was being discussed positively would it be detailing for those who saw it as racist to comment and explain why?

I’m really surprised and disappointed to learn that would be considered derailing.

I really felt for Cherry when she said she came from a Traveller background - I should imagine being gay in that setting would be hard enough but to be a drag queen too! Especially when she talked about cultural toxic masculinity.

I don't mind a bitchy queen, but the rant about Tia was just on another level. It was vile and made her sound like she knows Tia is a threat.

I want to like Gini lemon, as my mate knows her but the gurning faces grate on me.

Eldest was most unimpressed that Asstina went as they understood the anime costume, but we didn't want either of the bottom 2 to go home.
I like Veronica who is stunning in drag but that outfit was a bit, blah. The top wasnt anything special

I agree, I wasn’t particularly keen on her but her story was fascinating.

I think those parts of them talking openly about the challenges are fascinating. Really provides an insight into the much deeper issues, listening to Ginny and Bimi discuss things this week was the same

@Sirzy Absolutely, some of their back stories are heart breaking; I just want to hug them and say “Can’t you see how fabulous you are?!” To come though being ostracised or rejected for being outside “the norm” in the ways that they have, by sticking two immaculately manicured fingers up at their detractors, just makes me take off my hat to them. It also makes me cross that so much prejudice still bloody well exists.

I thought it was funny that she was puzzled by the poison IV joke though. I think most of the queens have dressmakers to make their outfits in advance, presumably they got the brief that it was a bag challenge, and Joey Jay's dressmaker came up with the pun - but Joey didn't get it

I think it'd be better if those posts about the US series were deleted, though. Otherwise there are spoiler alerts on the whole thread that might make people avoid it, but they're about a totally different series.

Predictions for who may go this week? I think there will be another big scalp, though Awhora and Lawrence Cheney make good tv so I doubt it will be either of them.

I was going to ask just that! I think it could be Tia Kofe (she misses the mark - there was the criticism over the wig and her 'reveal' dress was rather plain), Bimini or Lawrence, whose insecurity is self-sabotaging.

Tia is growing on me, but she is quite basic and her looks aren't are polished as some of the others so I'm not sure she will be in much longer.

Or Ginny, again, growing on me but their looks aren't as evolved as the others.

I love Ellie Diamond though so I hope she stays in a while longer. She reminds me so much of a combination of Kim Chi and Trixi Mattel.

Tia is my fave, I think she is the most natural comedian. Dies anyone know how many episodes were filmed before there was a break for lockdown? As apparently some of the queens used the time wisely and others did not! So that will be interesting to see.
