It’s cold, dark and there’s a pandemic but one bright light is the new series of drag race tomorrow. The last series was so joyful and really put British drag back on the map. I hope this series is just as good

I should imagine Awhora is quite a difficult person to get along with - I felt really sorry for them when they said they didn’t have any friends in drag circles, but given how they behave to others it’s not really hard to see why. They come across as so unbelievable defensive that they drive others away before they can get hurt. I noticed that they only ‘opened up’ in the interview segments, and not with the other queens. Which is very sad because I would have thought there would be a lot of support in such a community.

Wow. I mean, I wasn’t a huge fan of Joe Black but at least she was less “I’m bestowing you the gift of my very presence” this time round. And to get invited back to be eliminated again...oof.

That was my preferred outcome from the bottom two. Tia is funny. I don't know anything about them as performers pre Drag Race so I get that Joe Black is successful and people are fans, but she wasn't likeable for me.

I couldn't work out why Ru looked so furious through the entire Bananadrama song. It was clearly not as good but it was only when she had the outburst about H&M - which I think is what sealed Joe's fate- that I realised that was behind the level of rage.

Sister Sister's chips outfit was nowhere near as good as Awhora's. The chip fork earrings! The sauce bottle hat! A seagull on the head doesn't really compare.

I had wanted Veronica to win and think she had a good chance

Like Joe Black but that was not a challenge they would shine it or would meet their wardrobe - had they returned for Snatch game or acting, we might have seen what they can do. Did none of them know there would be a Eurovision task, none were glittery, sequinny, tacky or cheesy. Asstina would have slayed. Joe was the right elimination based on the challenge but not the runway. They saved Veronica on hers. Also Asstina won one week with a jacket off the rack.
It is also unfair that budgets are not given out to all with equal opps for everyone. You really can only do so much with what you have and getting into debt in a pandemic not wise.
So VG back in series 3. Ginny has definitely shot any chance of all stars ever. RuPaul is not nice when het up. MNEK is awesome. Glad Tia stayed, they make me laugh.I would have had Sister vs Ellie in the lipsync because gulls are fancy dress and a copycat is a copycat.
I know they do English singers each lipsync but I would still have had them break that to do Walking on Sunshine, Echo beach or Ooh ah just a little bit, Making your mind up or Waterloo.
Joe Black not a good lipsyncer. Tia cannot do tricks either but at least tries. Bimini was not great imo but the plunge off the table was something else.

It’s sad Veronica isn’t there, I thought she was going to win.

This season I think some of the girls are weaker. Really like Tia and Awhora also Lawrence who is hilarious. Tayce frightens me a bit, don’t know why.

Ru was so angry about the cheap dress. I suppose it’s part of Joe’s act to look that way. No shape, padding. She looked really small next to the others. Acting is fantastic though. The runway outfit was really good. Maybe afterwards Ru thought he’d gone too far which is why he apologised, but I do agree with him.

Can’t wait for next time!

Can I just say though I hope someone makes a gif of Tayce saying "face like a donkeys minge" because that made me spit my coffee out laughing.

I'm really glad Tia stayed. I don't know much about Joe Black but I get the feeling they're a bit like Alyssa Edwards in that they're great at what they do but it doesn't necessarily translate to winning Drag Race.

But see, I loved the previous Joe Black too... Let's not forget that they edit the show quite well to justify their decision for who leaves. Yesterday's episode was a prime example of this - Michelle Visage laughing her way through the first performance, with that classic HA-HAH she does, and I swear they showed the same clip of her HA-HAH ing twice during the first performance... And then the judges all have faces like bloody murder for the second performance. I wasn't really blown away by either performance, just thought the first had better dance moves.

Anyway, I don't know why, but there's something about Joe Black's personality that I enjoyed. It's the way they said everything is that same monotonous tone, whilst sounding like they had their nose in the air. I thought their catwalk outfit was fab too!

Agree with this 100%. Just don't have the versatility for the singing/dancing tasks etc, which you do need in order to be crowned a winner.

I'm surprised by the number of contestants who say they don't sing or dance. What does their act consist of? I'm completely ignorant of what contemporary drag acts on a stage actually do. I just like the TV show.

DD was cross and felt sister sister should've been out rather than Joe.
It's all well and good Ru getting angry about off the peg when Asstina won one week with off the peg. And to say about her team of 50-lucky you chick. Not everyone has RuPaul money and contacts.
It strikes me Ru needs to look at footage of her from the 80s before fame when she is in outfits bought and wore as is, oversized t-shirts and heels, no wig and drugstore cheap make up. Wigs that looked tatty at best. There are loads of these pre fame Ru videos on YouTube.
Not all drag is ott big fake boobs and glitter.

I thought the exact same thing - this was definitely Asstina's task. I'm still sad they're not in it. I was also shocked that Tayce, who had previously been quite vocal about Asstina wrongfully leaving, didn't vote for them... Tactical perhaps?

This is SO valid. It's an issue that's cropped up before. I remember watching season 12 US when Heidi N Closet (I think) mentioned that they simply didn't have the funds to compete with some of the queens on the show. I had a conversation about this with a friend who disagreed and said queens can be super creative without having the funds, but good god, how to you compete with this??

I really like Tia, but she need to up her outfit game! That runway costume was poor and she was lucky she stayed. DH and I thought they all voted tactically in bringing Joe back, given that her style was so different - an easier win for them. It does. Joe said that he didn’t know he was returning to DQUK so he had to sell his outfits to survive with no income. He had to then try and get outfits back.

All sounds really tough, so to be mocked for a H&M dress is cruel really. Ginnie Lemon was ranting on their socials about shouting at swearing at people who have had no income.

Not a good look for Ru Paul that. Particularly as there were conversations in yesterday's episode from queens saying they struggled during lockdown.

He did sort of apologise afterwards. But it wasn’t nice. I was shocked by how angry he was. But he was in the USA when we were in lockdown, so maybe he didn’t know what it was like here. Unlikely..
