Anyone watching.

Think this is just a one off. These are always fascinating. She certainly is putting in an Oscar winning performance with this bad back.

SoddingWeddings · 05/01/2021 12:07
  1. I don't miss dealing with drama llamas in custody (the number of faked fits and heart attacks is incredible)
  2. The DS is an appalling interviewer, probably he's out of practice in his role but was prepared to be on TV for this investigation. Big mistake on their part, should have kept the female DC as lead interviewer.
MrsGrindah · 05/01/2021 12:18

I was disgustingly distracted by the amount of hair in the DSs ears...

dancemom · 05/01/2021 12:29

spoiler for anyone who hasn't watched episode 1

So Husband number 2 was in jail for arson towards husband number 1? But she wasn't implicated as being involved in this at all, is that correct?

LadyCatStark · 05/01/2021 12:40

The boyfriend had every single Mumsnet love bombing red flag going! They were all very odd to be fair but her behaviour in the police station was bizarre!

ihatethecold · 05/01/2021 12:40

yes, his ear hair is minging!

kennypppppppp · 05/01/2021 12:48

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a good programme.

i wish they'd do a 24 hours fest, like friends fest.

i am being totally restrained and not googling the bonkers woman who is obviously hopefully looking at a big sentence and she is insane but the 3rd boyfriend seemed really nice and the chair he was sitting on looked as thought it had been covered with a jumper and i just wanted to shove the footstool under his feet.

the poor kid having a mother like that. yuck.

Throwntothewolves · 05/01/2021 12:52

So, is she what mumsnet would describe as a narcissist? Or just a crazy control freak who can't stand the fact her ex left her?

Sidge · 05/01/2021 14:06

I felt a bit sorry for the boyfriend (Graham). He struck me as lonely, not terribly bright, and desperate for love. I think she recognised that he might be easily manipulated and lovebombed him to ultimately use him against Rob.

Looking forwards to part 2.

SoddingWeddings · 05/01/2021 14:20

@dancemom She'd been arrested and investigated but released NFA (no further action) because all the evidence pointed to husband #2 (who was clearly vulnerable, I suspect through drugs or potentially a brain injury judging by his speech patterns).

She'd managed to distance herself from the while thing, and it sounded to me like she'd set him up to think it was his idea, so he carried the entire can for it and she was able to say he'd gone off on his own and she knew nothing about it. The video they played with #2 husband was filmed in a vulnerable witness suite, so he was interviewed as a witness or potentially as a victim during this second investigation.

dancemom · 05/01/2021 14:21

Thanks @SoddingWeddings, looking forward to tonight's episode

ArsenicNLace · 05/01/2021 14:30

I think Earl was also a vulnerable adult from the amount of people in that interview. I was struggling to work out who they all were. I assumed one must be an appropriate adult plus the fact the solicitor kept telling him he didn't have to answer the questions and he kept saying he wasn't but was 'just making a statement'. It was all completely bizarre.

She was clearly intelligent as she met her first husband at uni but highly manipulative. Really funny the change in her when she went in to claim her phone had been stolen (when it wasn't her phone). All fine and chatty. Then she's arrested and she's laying on the fall screaming in pain from her back and ends up in a wheelchair!

JudyGemstone · 05/01/2021 14:47

@Throwntothewolves

Yes. I'd even say probably psychopathic.

Certainly a lot of cluster B personality disorder traits - histrionic/narcissistic/antisocial I can see in there. And like a PP said Munchausens is likely too.

JudyGemstone · 05/01/2021 14:49

I don't know what the officers here think but I'm not about the title 'black widow'?

To me a black widow is someone who kills for financial gain - her motivation seems to be control/revenge on the ex she abused who escaped with their daughter. So more of a domestic homicide situation?

Turnedouttoes · 05/01/2021 14:58

Yes I was wondering who those extra two people in Earl’s interview were as well

TartanLassie · 05/01/2021 15:46

Ok so what channel is this on please? I need something to watch :)

dancemom · 05/01/2021 15:51

Channel 4 @TartanLassie

Second part tonight

Toddlerteaplease · 05/01/2021 15:56

@Sidge I thought it was the boyfriend love bombing her rather than the other way round.

OP posts:
Sidge · 05/01/2021 16:03

@Toddlerteaplease did you think so? I got the impression it was the other way round. He seemed smitten and swept along.

I think she’s psychopathic and manipulative and saw him coming a mile off.

Standrewsschool · 05/01/2021 16:27

I felt he was smitten by her enthusiasm, and then got sucked in by her. They did look happy initially. I think he thought he’d found a kindred spirit, so got swept along with it all.

That fire was awful. The dad and child were lucky the house didn’t go up in smoke.

Husband no 1 was a bit naive as well, so maybe that’s the kind of man she preys on.

Looking forward to tonight’s episode.

Ooh good point about Earl also being a vulnerable adult. She is a very clever woman who picks these men off dating websites knowing they can be easily manipulated. Can’t wait for Ep 2 tonight.

I had a few on my planner and watched the knife crime one before - so sad for both the victims and the perpetrators (obviously more the victims) all lives just wasted. Such a good program.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 05/01/2021 16:40

Watched it too. First thing DH said was look at the officer's ear hair!
I knew she was going to cry and play the victim. Watching her go in the ambulance crying in pain was like a kid having a tantrum. She's a dangerous woman. Reminded me very much of dh's ex wife.
Manipulative, cunning and Munchausen all mixed up.
Not googling it, waiting for tonight's episode.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 05/01/2021 16:45

Also, I hope her wee boy has been taken off her. Poor kids

ApolloandDaphne · 05/01/2021 16:52

I can't wait for tonight's episode!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 05/01/2021 18:38

Earl was terrifying Shock

DH also mentioned the hairy ears Grin
