As a teen I visited a family who lived above the pub they ran. It was closed when we visited but they brought us downstairs and we had a few drinks in the half lit, music less pub. It was weird.

Since the menopause I do tend to overthink things and act a bit crazy like Jean does! I wouldn't have fallen for Ade Edmondson though.
(I wish I was more Pat or Peggy : people don't mess with women like that! )

Those comedians did have longevity didnt they? I remember those spoof dramas so well.

Ds (21) sent a selfie to me of him and his uni mates when they were down the pub. I messaged back that they looked like The Young Ones! They were all familiar and delighted at the idea!

Yes, loads of people live above pubs. My DH should really live above the pub he runs but I wouldn’t live there! The assistant manager lives in the flat & is very happy with his almost free rent!

You know Gray? Has it been discussed on here about his voice? He speaks in a weird way - like his voice is not fully able to work. Stuck in his throat. Is that the actor doing a "character" thing? Or can the actor just not project properly? Or something?

I kind of get the impression Gray is constantly having to hold back what he really wants to say/do because it would show his true character so maybe that’s what the “stuck in his throat” thing is? If so it’s good that he seems able to maintain it so well.

Just seen overnight ratings for Christmas Day. Eastenders 9th with 3.54 million viewers. Behind coronation street and Emmerdale that had 4.55 million and 3.57 million respectively

Yeah I wouldn't want to be landlady of the Vic in Covid times. Depressing and not good for the bank balance.

Their ratings are down I suppose as it's not been that good lately. I doubt many younger viewers are interested in watching this.
If my 23 year old son does watch it , he just talks all the way through it asking me questions. The last 35 odd years would take days to get through plus it's hard to explain why things happen too!
Then he loses interest. Grr.

Ratings for soaps and all terrestrial TV shows have been declining for years which isn't a surprise with so much available now to stream. I thought last night's episode was pretty good and I wasn't expecting the Sharon reveal but the Gray story is dragging.

I thought last nights was good too.
I watch the 3 soaps and Corrie was by far the worst Xmas day episode. Really bad IMO. Not surprised they got highest viewers numbers though. They always do well for numbers and I think that’s why they’ve become so complacent.
