I think Phil is helping purely because of Denny. Perhaps with a side order of guilt about having caused the crash. Plus a modicum of fear about how Sharon might want to kill him too if she finds out!

Phil isn't scared of Sharon , but probably just guilty it's him that kicked off the chain of events. He is one for family .. he even used that as an excuse not to kill Beale and he really hates Ian usually!
Sharon is Dennis Watts daughter so I can see her as a heartless killer.
She has a dark side.

Re Sharon and Ian and the "legacy", I suppose it hasn't been for a quick ratings thing, as it's been nearly a year?

What will happen to Sharon though? How will she go on? Either killing Ian or coming back from not killing him? They're not going to be able forgive each other after it's resolved. She's acting out of passion. If Ian is killed she becomes a different person. If he bolts from the Square will she not go after him? Be consumed by following him? Or what? She obviously needed to hear the Denny message to push her on when she has her moment while about to add the poison.

Love to know what poison it is. She could have been poisoning for ages but she behaved as if it was the first time last night. Plus she had been thinking Phil in the pub with the blunt instrument. Lots of people have had come a cropper with head injuries in the Vic!

But there was at least Archie, and was Den bopped on the head in the end? Tiff fell down the stairs. Eddie Royle was bopped on the head, but, although he was Vic landlord, he was bopped by Nick Cotton in the gardens.

I don’t think them dragging it out for a year means it wasn’t originally for a ratings boost. For starters, the story was started before covid so it’s possible they had originally planned for it to be wrapped up much sooner but the had to close the set for months and reduced episodes etc have slowed down the progression of the story. Secondly, they’ve dragged out other storylines for long times and it’s specifically in order to keep viewers watching to find out the outcome.

The Vic is cursed. So many unhappy things have happened in there.
So many deaths over the years.

I really wanted Sharon to be able to take over the Vic, as her own and be happy there. Can’t see that happening now.

I think she’ll end up with the Vic
She’s going to tell Ian she hates him & why
He’s going to grovel & snivel like he does
She’ll let him live but make him sign over the pub & leave Walford
That’s my prediction!

thanks everyone for explaining! that makes sense, it was a sequence of events gone wrong rather than intentional. I think Shaz will let him live. But maybe it'll be too late if she's been poisoning him leading to liver failure and terrible guilt for her?

Weird though running the Vic seems quite appealing to me right now! Mind you, I couldn't be doing with people popping up to the flat above any time they like. I'd definitely have a lockable door between stairs and pub!

I had this exact same thought yesterday! I’d love to run the vic but I’d definitely have a door fitted at the bottom of those stairs!

Trying to work out if I'd model myself on Angie or Pat or Peggy or Sharon. Probably be more fun to be Den! Doing dodgy deals etc etc.
