The series focuses on Tovey’s character – a man with a terrible secret who is (perhaps literally) haunted by the mistakes of his past.

Not sure if this link has spoilers but couldn't find the ITV one!

What a load of old balls!

JimmyJabs · 28/10/2020 21:59

Yeah, I'm losing interest now. Too many red herrings and pointless build-ups of tension, and Russell Tovey looking gormless.

Oh, hang on, Bob killed her on purpose because he wanted to make a ghost? So why is he fucking about with the remains and involving Nathan? Wouldn't it be in his interests to get rid of as much evidence as possible and say nothing to anybody?

Rollergirl11 · 28/10/2020 22:02

How did Bob know that Nathan wouldn’t do the coke?

Fridgeandkitchen · 28/10/2020 22:02

May be Nathan is the ghost?

MrDarcysMa · 28/10/2020 22:04

@Honeyroar that Bob killed her in the woods on purpose because he was fascinated by the roadside ghost thing

MrDarcysMa · 28/10/2020 22:04

I'm quite enjoying the 4 nights in a row thing though.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 28/10/2020 22:05

@LumpySpacedPrincess

Did Bob give her the drugs? I wondered if he wanted to create a ghost which is why he parked the car there, as an experiment?
Punch the air!
Rummikub · 28/10/2020 22:06

@Impatiens

So I was right about Bob and the reason was...he wanted to make a ghost?? Do me a favour. ffs
Hate the creaking Good call on making a ghost
Rummikub · 28/10/2020 22:07

Sorry I knew I’d read it up thread

Honeyroar · 28/10/2020 22:09

Is his wife the ghost?

1990s · 28/10/2020 22:09

Yes Lumpy can’t believe how exactly you called that!

Honeyroar · 28/10/2020 22:10

They could’ve done this in one episode, surely!

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 28/10/2020 22:15

Urgh, I've watched all three episodes so far, so will watch the last one tomorrow, but it definitely could have been done in two episodes.

dolphinpose · 28/10/2020 22:17

Everyone who thought it was Paul Kaye - Bertie Carvell and Paul Kaye are good friends irl. DH and I were saying that Bertie Carvell probably read the script and said to Kaye - I have to do this piece-of-pants script for the money. It's rubbish so I'm going to play the character as you just to have some fun with it.

Bertie Carvell is an astonishing actor. He can turn himself into anyone he wants. I once saw him in a play where he transformed from David Cameron into Margaret Thatcher - completely believable as both of them.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 28/10/2020 22:20

@1990s

Yes Lumpy can’t believe how exactly you called that!
Foreshadowing.
dexterslockedintheshedagain · 28/10/2020 22:24

@LumpySpacedPrincess
Did you write the script?!!!! Grin

Impatiens · 28/10/2020 22:26

@Fridgeandkitchen

May be Nathan is the ghost?
Ah...
Rollergirl11 · 28/10/2020 22:30

Have just seen Paul Kaye play very similar character to Bob in The Third Day on Sky Atlantic.

Agree that Bertie Carvel is a really great actor. Absolutely adored him in Jonathon Strange & Mr Norrell. Funnily enough Paul Kaye is in that too!

Clawdy · 28/10/2020 22:36

The "making a ghost" thing is too far-fetched. And why would the police woman call late at night to speak to a possibly dangerous man? And how did Russell T know about the cine film, and set it up so quickly.......

JamminDoughnuts · 29/10/2020 06:42
Sad i thought last night was the final! dammit i cant believe i have to watch 4 nights, not giving up now
EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 29/10/2020 08:43

Omg Lumpy!!
And I also think that Nathan could also be a ghost, and that would be why Holly isn't getting pregnant...

butterpuffed · 29/10/2020 08:58

A review in the Guardian says RT's performance is 'truly moving' and she thinks he could be in line for an award. We're watching different programmes Grin

Still watching tho'. I want to see the outcome. I said earlier in the week that I wondered whether Holly may be involved and trying to trap her husband. Now the policewoman is more involved I'm wondering if she and Holly are an item [odd unneeded conversation at Holly's parents' house] and working together on finding out what happened.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 29/10/2020 09:02

An award for most vacant expression maybe!

the80sweregreat · 29/10/2020 09:09

I did laugh at the grim pub ( I managed to catch up this morning)
Blimey, not many pubs look like that these days! About as welcome as a prison cell.
The way he shuffles about is very Fagin as someone said on here but I agree he is a good actor. He would play a good devil.
I've only ever seen him in Dr Foster.
What has become of the nice car he had Which had a handy shovel in the back ?
Also he didn't know that Nathan wouldn't take the drugs as well : did he want two ghosts roaming about?
It finishes tonight.

the80sweregreat · 29/10/2020 09:11

When Nathan went to see him in the first episode was there a cine film there then?
