@crotoneyedjoe

Some of the comments here about Laura are pretty brutal. Fair enough you're sad that Hermine is leaving, but to call Laura 'arrogant', 'vile', 'very overweight' and to speculate that she doesn't bother to clean after herself, etc. is just horrible. Some of the comments about Dave also not nice to read.

This should be a friendly, frothy thread about how tasty creme pat is and bleurgh matcha is.

Well said

An ex used to work at the same school as his brother, Joe came across as quite nice, his brother is an extremely nasty racist piece of work.

Blimey! I guess you can't pick your family. Sad

SequinsandStiIettos · 20/11/2020 20:32

Love Joe. He was so funny on Taskmaster.
I am feeling so sorry for Dave now - extra slice are so ribbing him for his anecdotes. You have to be teflon I think to watch your edit. I have also had a shit time in Paris (think wet February). I find myself rooting for him now bless.

ilovecardigans · 20/11/2020 20:45

Aww Dave. I've really warmed to him over the last couple of weeks.

I bloody love Hermine's top (dress?) on tonight's show. It's absolutely gorgeous.

MaggieFS · 20/11/2020 20:47

With regards to clearing up, I'm sure I read years ago that they have a team in an adjacent tent at the back hand washing everything because using dishwasher would have been to noisy for the filming. No idea if that would have been the case in this year's set up, but I remember thinking that would not be a fun job!

MaggieFS · 20/11/2020 20:48

*too noisy

crotoneyedjoe · 20/11/2020 20:53

Hand-washing! 😮 though I'd rather hand-wash cake batter than say sausage grease. (Do they hand-wash on Masterchef too?)

ilovecardigans · 20/11/2020 20:56

That biscuit challenge would have been much easier if they'd used Rich Tea instead of Digestives.

I clearly have waaaay too much time on my hands... Confused

OliveHenry · 20/11/2020 21:05

I warmed to Dave after seeing him with tears in his eyes the week that Mark (from Northern Ireland) left. Until then he'd always seemed a bit aloof.

I don't really mind who wins, but I can't imagine any of them going on to have a career in baking/cooking, or having their own show à la Nadiya. Happy to be proved wrong though!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 21/11/2020 04:34

I agree, no Nadiyas this year.
But Peter is amazing, to have built so much experience by the age of 20. His time management is amazing.

ppeatfruit · 21/11/2020 09:13

Nadiya is one in 10 million! I love her programmes. The BEEB got lucky with her!

iklboogeymum · 21/11/2020 09:54

I think Dave is just naturally a bit shy / reticent until he gets to know people, his environment & feel comfortable. DS is similar - his first term report with new teachers all say he's quiet & reluctant to answer questions. Report 2 is always about how he's come out of his shell.

IntermittentParps · 21/11/2020 14:12

I warmed to Dave after seeing him with tears in his eyes the week that Mark (from Northern Ireland) left.
He did seem suddenly very human then.

But I already liked him. Grin

ilovecardigans · 23/11/2020 21:42

Ever wondered who does the beautiful illustrations for the contestants' bakes?

Wonder no more...

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2020 09:35

Final tonight !!!!! i'm going to miss GBBO.

kursaalflyer · 24/11/2020 09:54

Can we have a new thread?

dreamingbohemian · 24/11/2020 09:56

I'm really going to miss it too. Any predictions for tonight? I think probably Peter will win.

IntermittentParps · 24/11/2020 10:42

ilovecardigans I was so pleased to see that in the paper! I've wondered for years about who does the illustrations.

wowfudge · 24/11/2020 12:00

I think Peter should win. Unless he goes to pieces in the final then his experience and quality of what he has produced so far point to him winning.

HotSince63 · 24/11/2020 12:05

I've really warmed to Dave as the series has gone on, he's really blossomed as the group has got smaller and of the finalists he's the one that's taken judges comments on board and shown the most improvement... it's got to be Peter to win but Dave will be snapping at his heels.

iklboogeymum · 24/11/2020 16:32

Oooh we need a new thread! I can't do one on my bloody phone.
