I knew what you meant Fizboss

I, too, have been the innocent victim of autocarrot!

Egghead68 · 20/10/2020 21:33

Linda going was the right decision, sadly.

CassandrasCastle · 20/10/2020 21:51

Hermine was definitely robbed!

I am a Lottie fan. And don't really like Dave... :/

CherryValanc · 20/10/2020 22:09

Sorry to see Linda go. Paul seemed particularly specialising in being a knob head in tonight's episode.

How controversial would it be if I said I don't really like Peter?

altiara · 20/10/2020 22:37

Peter’s really sweet!
I wanted Hermine as star baker.

Egghead68 · 20/10/2020 22:42

I like them all but I think the standard is low - really showed on the technical today.

weebarra · 20/10/2020 22:53

Sad for Linda to go, but DD and I have agreed that we mainly like them all this year. I like Lottie the least but DD loves her because she is 7.

MoonJelly · 20/10/2020 23:14

I do dislike pointless construction tasks. Who actually wants a pastry cage over their tarts, FFS?

Allywill · 20/10/2020 23:54

I wish Marc was doing better. He looks so downcast when it goes wrong and was so happy the week he got star baker.

HeddaGarbled · 20/10/2020 23:54

Linda had some nasty looking injuries on her forearms - oven burns, I assume.

TheGriffle · 20/10/2020 23:58

I thought Hermine should have been star baker this week, she did a fantastic job.

MaMaLa321 · 21/10/2020 06:32

surely Lottie should have her hair tied back? It really bugs me.

deplorabelle · 21/10/2020 07:02

All the bakers looked subdued the whole time last night. At one point everyone looked like they'd been crying.

I agree Hermine should have got star baker. Laura's showstopper was lovely but lamb tagine is much harder to fill a pasty with than cheese and onion surely?

SnazzyHatchback · 21/10/2020 08:20

I think Peter should have got star baker but I think that every week cause I love him

BrieAndChilli · 21/10/2020 08:56

I also can’t warm to Peter for some reason even though his bakes are normally good.
DH said surely if you went on bake off you would practice all the different things so when someone said they had never made choux pastry you do think surely it’s one of the ones you would practice?

I'm really excited about Japanese week. My adult daughter and I were browsing a Japanese website (based in the UK) last week and were intrigued with the cakes and baked goods section. It will be great to see what they are really like and whether they actually taste good.

I think Japanese stuff is really trendy at the moment.

ppeatfruit · 21/10/2020 09:39

Thanks for the new thread lettingthedays .

Ref. choux pastry maybe the nozzle on Linda's forcing bag was too small. I couldn't work out what she was doing wrong.

I record the programme because it's an hour later here and I go to sleep if I try to watch all of it!!. I guessed it wouldn't be Linda's week. Those cages looked like they were for Royal banquets or something, not exactly everyday cooking.

I like it this time because the contestants are sort of every day cooks!

ppeatfruit · 21/10/2020 09:42

Oh and thank you to the pp (on the old thread) who linked to the subject for yesterday's for me.

MsMiaWallace · 21/10/2020 10:24

Japanese week will be very interesting!
Not sure if I like Laura?

30not13 · 21/10/2020 10:36

@knittingaddict may I please have the japanese place link

SnazzyHatchback · 21/10/2020 11:43

Also interested as DH's family love all things Japanese!

knittingaddict · 21/10/2020 12:50
@knittingaddict may I please have the japanese place link
Of course.

Some of the things are very expensive due to the costs of importing, but we did discuss buying a few things and having a tasting session.

RunningFromInsanity · 21/10/2020 13:12

Hermine should have been star baker.

Lottie is annoying, she doesn’t put any effort it.

Egghead68 · 21/10/2020 13:29

I think Lottie’s very creative.

acatcalledjohn · 21/10/2020 13:34

I thought Peter had done really well and should have been up there for star baker. Unlike Laura he made the cage, rather than using a lattice roller.

Linda deserved to go but I will miss her. She seems just so cheerful. Lottie is on thin ice. As much as I like her she's been consistently weaker than the others.

Really like Hermine, Irish Mark and Peter. They are all pretty consistent and probably the strongest bakers in the tent.

Still not feeling Dave. I'm sure he's very nice, but he doesn't suit TV. (I'd probably be equally disliked if I was on the show.)
