Anyone else looking forward to this drama?
Starts next Tuesday.
Good cast. Makes a change from usual crime thrillers.

Gail's necklace story will be explained later in the series. Re Gail, I think in the final episode there should be a scene of them dancing in the corridor instead of her standing there. It was asking for it!

Re Saira's lips, I thought for a while they were enhanced but I'm not actually sure, this actress has always had big lips. But then they are odd shape so probably fillers. Think she'd look better without them, it's all you look at right now.

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 03/10/2020 23:32

I watched the whole thing yesterday. Loved it!

MinnieJackson · 04/10/2020 12:06

I finished it yesterday and I did like it but I think some parts could have had more to them. Like Hannah going crazy at the job centre about the PIP, nothing else was mentioned after. I think Saira was Anita in hollyoaks years ago. Also maybe could have delved a bit deeper into Mayas character and her 'aggression '. I didn't really get the point of the necklace reveal either but I did quite enjoy it.

PinkDaydreams · 04/10/2020 12:33

I too thought the necklace was a bit disappointing. But I really enjoyed it! A few of you have mentioned the detectorists, is that also on the Iplayer?

ageingdisgracefully · 04/10/2020 13:17

Yes - the PIP story was unconnected to the rest of it. Didn't see the point.

Also thought the necklace rebels was underwhelming. In fact the ending was silly and underwhelming although I enjoyed the journey Smile

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 04/10/2020 13:23

The PIP story was to highlight Liam was not for her because he wasn’t supportive but a bit embarrassed and it provided her with a reason to have Andy over witrhout Liam. Tbh Liam could have just gone for an after work drink.

Though we all already knew the writing was on the wall with that.

FirstOfficerDouglas · 04/10/2020 13:24

I watched the lot and wasn't keen - kept thinking it would get a bit better, (and also couldn't find anythign else to watch).

Alsion Steadman miscast in my view. Over acting, too many "faces", unconvincing. (Also so tired of seeing the same old faces - basically acting the same old stuff too. Why can't the producers pick from a wider pool.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 04/10/2020 15:26

'Alsion Steadman miscast in my view. Over acting, too many "faces", unconvincing.'

Yes and while her husbands affair was indefensible you'd think as he only has months left she'd stick it out, for her grown up kids sake if nothing else.

I hope Belle and her niece end up happy, they are so a likeable while obviously very damaged.

Felt sorry for the teacher, imagine sending out an email to your entire contacts asking if they knew what your partner had been up to.

Off the back of this has anyone tried ‘Us’ yet?

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2020 19:42

'Us ' has some lovely locations!

PinkDaydreams · 05/10/2020 08:33

I tried Us but couldn't get into it, not sure why though.

Travelledtheworld · 05/10/2020 09:11

I am enjoying it. And great acting from Peter Davison as the horrible domineering Henry.
Was he a Psychiatrist or something ? I don't find that very convincing given his self centred personality.

dogsdinnerlady · 05/10/2020 09:44

I just couldn't help wondering why Liam didn't just tell everyone to go to the reception and enjoy all the booze and food they'd paid for.

Isn't that more or less what they did, but at her flat? Alison Steadman character (can't think of her and want to call her Pam) told them to I think.
Boredsilly · 05/10/2020 13:11

I've just started episode 5 and really enjoying this love all the storylines, I watched it mainly cause I loved Dr Foster and remember Belle's character but the scene where she has her ex round I could of shouted at the tv 'have some dignity!' really made me cringe!

CovidCanFuckOffNow · 05/10/2020 14:19

I hated the ending.

The storyline with the mystery of what the dead wife had been up to was a big build up to nowhere! I eye rolled so much at them being mates at the end. Utter pish.

The bipolar sister offered more questions than answers regarding how it all ended up the way it did. Frustrating.

Gail & Henry - whilst I loved Gails character, and they had some stellar scenes, they ended up just a bit deluded of what was to come in caring for the end of someone's life which seemed infuriating to me for some reason...

As for the baby who looked like a newborn all the way through but didn't seem to fit the timeline of the adults around it...whatever was that all about.

Such a great build up, cast, setting etc..I'm re-writing the endings in my own mind Smile

monkeytennis97 · 05/10/2020 14:21

@CovidCanFuckOffNow totally agree with all your points.

CovidCanFuckOffNow · 05/10/2020 14:46

@monkeytennis97

I wish they'd been braver and ended things in a way which would reflect how those situations are more likely to have gone.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 05/10/2020 20:49

I'm assuming there will be a second series. It's all been set up for that (everyone's story line could continue) and I doubt the Beeb would have invested such a huge amount in just 6 episodes of anything.

unique1986 · 05/10/2020 21:29

^ That will prob depend on ratings..
Unfortunately this is put on Tuesday nights on the most competitive night. So it didnt do very well last week.
With various positive reviews online and twitter I can only hope word of mouth spreads and it doesnt end up a flop..

Just finished it. Thoroughly enjoyed this. But spent a lot of time pausing and looking up the actors. I thought it was Elaine Paige but her face looked really odd. Did anyone else recognise Masoud’s auntie from eastenders as Sairas grandma

Hearwego · 05/10/2020 23:22

Posted on another thread about this. I’m
enjoying it so far -just binged watched four episodes.

Lolaloveslemonade · 06/10/2020 06:50

It was cleverly written.

Typically a man at the end of his life, a bipolar sister and a ‘boyfriend’ who takes on another man’s baby would be portrayed in a sympathetic way.

Not in this! It was really interesting to watch.
