The breakfast she's starting with doesn't look exactly speeedy to me

OP posts:

LOL MrsSpoon, can I come to your house for brekkie next Sunday? Do you serve them on special 'pancake plates'? (I promise to eat with my mouth closed )

freakypenguin · 08/10/2007 21:39

I struggle to believe that anyone who says breezily "just use one of your cappuccino cups" - like we all have specially designated mugs - would also have "shaving foam" cream in their fridge.

IMO, it's a cappuccino cup house OR a shaving foam cream house.

aramintavanhamstring · 08/10/2007 21:45

I just said to my dh 'who is a mad fanny?'

He said 'Expresso Jugsy?'

My dh is the most unobservant person ever. Nuff said.

Megglevampire · 08/10/2007 21:46

Fanny Craddock Araminta.

aramintavanhamstring · 08/10/2007 21:54

How funny. I can see the similarity.

MrsSpoon · 08/10/2007 21:56

You are very welcome Washersaurus, particularly because I don't feed dozens of children pancakes on a Sunday morning just the greedy Spoon family so there should be a few spare!

I also have cappuccino cups (afterall what else would you drink with your pancakes), is that really so unusual?

DottydotsofBloodOnTheFloor · 08/10/2007 21:59

She needs to shoot the editor - it's such a shame.

But can I just say that I make pancakes on Sundays for my lot (albeit not with (a) a cappuccino cup, (b) a griddle thingy or (c) a HUGE big oven).

Think I should get some Nigella brownie points though for having a bigger chest than hers...

Lilymaid · 08/10/2007 22:03

Her voice seems to have got deeper and more Fanny Cradock/dowager duchess like. Is it a result of all that snacking on buses? In my area you can be thrown off the bus for eating/drinking on it and my commuting experiences with London buses would not entice me to attempt to pour hot soup or even cold smoothie out whilst the bus lurches along London streets.

fishie · 08/10/2007 22:09

she has got this it is very good.

she was a bit better this week, but oh dear it is upsetting. fanny knew exactly what she was doing but i don't think nigella does.

Kif · 08/10/2007 22:09

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Not seen this wk - but last week: soup in the bus?!? Isn't that about as socially acceptable as a spliff in a nursery? I was waiting for a road bump...

And the noodles... if you're goingto mix ready made this with ready made that and a spash of fancy sauce WHY NOT JUST BUY THE SALAD FROM EFFING PRET A MANGER! The London backdrop just made it all the stupider - because it is so easy to get nice fast food in London.

I second the theory on her having a team of ;washing up elves; imprisoned in her tasteful basement kitchen.

Dh thinks she has an eating disorder if she really can't get between breakfast and work without a snack.

blousy · 08/10/2007 22:18

This is our favourite 1/2 hour of tv all week. Can she really eat that much, and so often? No wonder her backside is the size of a table. Some of the stuff she makes looks good though, but the programme is so fake it's hard to concentrate!

newgirl · 08/10/2007 22:32

i do like her kitchen though

millie99 · 08/10/2007 22:36

Pssst - newgirl - (whispers) Its not really her kitchen you know

CatIsSleepy · 08/10/2007 22:43

not her kitchen?

this could be the next BBC scandal

The little pancakes she did at the end (only saw last minute) looked lovely. What was that mixture she had in the big jar?

Those girls were obviously giggling from embarassment by the way.

multitasker · 09/10/2007 09:48

I only caught the last few minutes of this - what has happened to her!!! Why did they film from the left? Is that her better side, it was all a bit odd, even DH thought she was off her trolley - Did anyone catch her recipe for the pancakes - they looked pretty good

PetitFilou1 · 09/10/2007 09:55

The pancakes are good, I make them for dcs occasionally and they love them (recipe in her first book).

However, I watch this only for its pure comedy value now.

Nigella this programme is DREADFUL.

robin3 · 09/10/2007 13:30

I too have to watch because it's so bad.

'Can't be bothered to measure everything...just use a Cappuccino Cup'

'If you ladel warm butter in to a perfectly good batter mix it stops it from sticking to the pan' so does olive oil you looney.

'my kids love to fight over the little island bits of batter' Thanks Mum of cool teenagers.

That was only in the pancake bit.

Nigella I love you but you have to stop this show.

newgirl · 09/10/2007 15:07

whose kitchen is it?? i thought it was hers - that larder looks very real - am i hopelessly niave?

UlySCREAMS · 09/10/2007 15:09

she's turned into a caricature of herself IMO

lovey · 09/10/2007 19:15

Friend's dd is now in the same class as her daughter, and is (on mothers orders!:P) getting closer and closer to an invite:D hahaha, it did make me laugh:D

scampadoodle · 09/10/2007 19:53

Oh, that is funny. But how awful for the daughter (nigella's)!

tegan · 09/10/2007 20:07

I made the pancakes tonight and have the mixture waiting to do some more on the weekend.

Will also be doing the rocky road chocolate thingy and the choc croisants on the weekend too.

AitchyBabesHugz2AllUHunnis · 09/10/2007 20:10

the whole place is a fabrication, it's a studio that Nigella owns and has kitted out. all that business with sneaking back to the fridge in the middle of the night... pure bolleaux.
