Just a reminder that this fab programme is back

That people who spend £100’s a week amazingly reduce their shopping bill 😂😂

Assuming new series. Hope it is

Greg and Chris help a mum And her two boys Ditch the micro meals

What fabulous meals will they cook

What will they swap

And will they have the usual - I don’t like that - and it’s their usual brand 😂😂😂😂

@ageingdisgracefully

That was quite strange. Where was Max?

Goat curry? Where would you buy that??

At least I know how to pronounce "gnocchi" now. Smile

That's not how gnocchi is pronounced, Chris said knocky, the correct pronunciation (I think) has the gn sound more like nyocky.
ageingdisgracefully · 16/09/2020 20:15

Ah.....one of them did seem to pronounce it like nee-OCK.....eee but that may have been the voiceover.

xanthippe8 · 16/09/2020 20:20

I think you're right, ageingdisgracefully!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/09/2020 20:27

I’d say it n-yocky.

CorianderLord · 16/09/2020 20:38

God her eyelash glue's a bit... thick.

Also reckon she pays the other mum under the table.

The veggie sausages tend to be healthier, less fat, less salt, less processed. Some contain some of your five a day. I do think they're sponsored though as they've been in both episodes so far.

Some of the meals looked rank this week and I normally eat almost everything.

Gnocchi is like n-yocky but you start the n back in your mouth where a G would be. Or at least that's how I do.

2020isnotbehaving · 16/09/2020 20:41

I think Goat curry is a Caribbean dish so maybe they we’re focusing on her/her kids background? I’ve only ever seen it in Caribbean shops or takeaways.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/09/2020 21:36

Where would you buy goat

Never seen at Aldi 😂😂

I love the g word but wouldn’t make it

I don't know what gnocchi is, even. Grin.

Isn't it just lumps of flour?

They're starchy little dumpling things, made from potato or semolina or similar. They're little chewy balls of delight. Ultimate comfort food.
Akire · 16/09/2020 22:40

I saw them once while I was wondering in Waitrose I had no idea what they were. What’s wrong with mash!

xanthippe8 · 16/09/2020 23:01

Has no one ever watched The Godfather part 3, when Vincent and Mary are making gnocchi together? So sensual, (okay, I'm old)!

pinkbalconyrailing · 17/09/2020 06:37

gnocci need to be fried in butter and garlic.
crispy outside and squidgy inside.
very morish.

Gladgreengrass · 17/09/2020 06:53

I miss the nutritionist lady too! Bring her back.

Thought the kids were lovely but none of the rest of it quite added up. The friend thing and the fact that for someone who doesn't cook, the mum of three had some great cooking equipment ,(Creuset pan etc) and chopped garlic like a pro (albeit a bit more slowly).

If there isn't a GoFundMe page for the Macbeth family last week then there should be. They so deserve an all expenses paid holiday.

BikeRunSki · 17/09/2020 06:58

Goat curry is fairly standard Caribbean food. When I was a child, we used to buy goat from the high street butcher. I’m veggie now, so I haven’t bought goat for years.

Ooh! My post was hidden cos I put a link to a go fund me for Spencer. Just in case anyone is thinking I posted something horrible. I loved the Macbeth family, they were so up for it all. I thought the veggie recipes they had looked lovely too. I made the raspberry muffins last night for my breakfast refusing son. They got the seal of approval when he tasted them.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/09/2020 07:06

This, but many Mumsnetters seem to have a blind spot about common Carribbean foods.

Just look at the confusion and WTF type comments any time someone mentions having rice with their roast dinners.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/09/2020 07:08

Quote didn't post, I was commenting about goat meat being available from butchers in areas where there is a demand for it.

diplodocusinermine · 17/09/2020 07:19

Ha, goat curry - we went to a friend's wedding in Fiji and his Mum wanted to cook goat curry for everyone on the evening before the wedding. So we spent the morning trolling round Nandi to buy a goat....

The curry was absolutely delicious.

Gladgreengrass · 17/09/2020 07:22

Thank you yellowmaoampinball I will go and look myself. Seems like a strange thing to remove if you ask me!

I agree about Spencer and his family. They are fab.

yellowmaoampinball · 17/09/2020 07:25

I expect they just hide all links over night

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 17/09/2020 12:15

It seemed a strange set up, didn't seem like Megan got much out of the arrangement. The working mum must have been earning a decent amount if she could afford £250 a week for food.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/09/2020 10:47

Gnocchi is ace instead of pasta with tomato sauce and cheese or in a bake again instead of pasta. Takes minutes to cook (plus time in oven for a bake, and it's The Law to put a shit tonne of mozzarella on top!).

Also tossed in oil and instead of boiling, bake for 20-30 minutes. They turn into little roasties!

Cheap to buy as well.

I love goat curry although theirs looked a little watery.

I miss Priya too, we try to experiment with low FODMAP recipes for DD as certain fruits/veg make her tummy bad and on the BBC site Priya has some yummy sounding recipes I think I might give a go.

Does anyone know if it's on again next Tuesday? I love this show but it seems to get broadcast very randomly Grin

Lurleene · 18/09/2020 15:04

Thanks Yellowmaompinball , I didn't know about the Go Fund Me page so it was good to know I could be Helping Spence and his family get their holiday.

Wolfcub · 18/09/2020 15:50

Gnocchi is ace roasted in the oven until crispy and then dipped in sour cream and chive dip
