Just a reminder that this fab programme is back

That people who spend £100’s a week amazingly reduce their shopping bill 😂😂

Assuming new series. Hope it is

Greg and Chris help a mum And her two boys Ditch the micro meals

What fabulous meals will they cook

What will they swap

And will they have the usual - I don’t like that - and it’s their usual brand 😂😂😂😂

Yes it was £86 on main shop and £120 total with top ups.

jay55 · 15/07/2021 20:18

Yes 86 in the supermarket, £120 after top ups.

iamtopazmortmain · 15/07/2021 20:44

Lovely, polite kids in this family. The little one is happy eating everything! It must be so scary to have a child with allergies.

jay55 · 15/07/2021 20:47

Yeah, I really like this family. I was surprised the veg pancake things went down so well. Brilliant that they did.

I've a nut allergy so empathise with not usually being able to have chocolate spread.

Horehound · 15/07/2021 20:49

What was the glaze for the pork? It looked great! Deffo a quick supper we would eat

CherryPlumCrow · 15/07/2021 21:29

Yes they were lovely polite little boys and tried everything put in front of them, amazing.

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 15/07/2021 21:58

I didn’t think £120 was too bad! Considering the eldest had allergies and it can be harder to shop.

They were lovely boys.

I'd have to watch again to check, but I think it was oil, garlic and sage?

Every bugger and his dog decided that they needed to have a conversation with me between 8 and 9 today so I missed loads!

Graphista · 16/07/2021 00:36

Just watching on catch up.

Honest to goodness if they had an episode of this mon - fri I for one would watch. It's shameful how it's treated.

Loving this family! So polite, so willing to give it a proper go, and not precious about a 7 year old getting well involved in cooking including chopping veggies

His wee face when he got the chefs hat! Bless him!

£120 for a family of four I don't think is that bad, we've certainly had far more profligate families on the show.

That pork looks lovely - and I'm a veggie! But I do feel the dish is missing a carb

I'd have more paprika in that stew

Not a huge saving as I think they do pretty well already. But the main thing was helping them out with the allergy thing.

Lovely family.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2021 10:22

Just watching now

So he was allergic to a fruit smoothie ?

And nuts, often happens but rarer to be allergic to mustard flax sesame seeds

But ok with everything else

Not sure why diet was so restrictied

Those children were a delight and parents were lovely too.

I agree that i'd watch much more than 6 episodes spread over a year of this. I don't mind the itv one but i don't feel you really get to know the families very well and it's just lacking something.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2021 11:04

They are looking for new families

Was an ad I. Back of my TV guide

Maybe I should apply and see if they would sort out my fussy DC. Unfortunately they are 21 and 20 (and now added DSs 19 year old girlfriend who is worse!) so I think maybe that boat has sailed...

But there's still scope to cut down, especially if it is more than they can afford. Maybe they've listened to all the people who asked to see people on the smaller budgets than those spending £10k+ pa on food.

For the poster who asked if any of these shows or healthier eating shows were on Netflix etc, I recently discovered that Secret Eaters is on Youtube.

Instead of people who don't understand where all their money is going and can't seem to see the obvious in where they are going wrong, we have people who don't understand why they can't lose weight but constantly 'forget' about the times they went to McDonalds or Greggs or had a multipack of crisps every day.

I think covering a family with returned home/not left yet adult kids would be great.
ElephantOfRisk · 16/07/2021 12:24

Yes, I have one at home and one a student living away for Uni with his girlfriend. All of them fussy but it's not all the same things they are fussy about. We all went away for a week together and it's just as well DH and I eat most things as it was bad enough catering for 3 differently fussy folk. I'm a bit put off with the amount of courgettes they use though as I don't like those.

However, I would need to get my kitchen redone first!

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 16/07/2021 12:32

@faithfulbird20 he's not a chef, he's a grocer!

BarbaraofSeville · 16/07/2021 12:49

I think if depends how you 'know' Gregg Wallace as to what you think he does.

Some years ago a group of us went to his restaurant and the chat was all about whether he would be there, which he was and how exciting that was.

Someone said 'so who is Gregg Wallace anyway', to which I said he had a vegetable farm and was a food writer in magazines, because that's how I'd seen his work.

The people who saw him regularly on some high profile TV programme, that I'd never watched, looked at me as if I had two heads - this was before Eat Well for less and I don't know what programme it was without Googling, Bake Off or something similar?

Pinuporc · 16/07/2021 13:25

Hes known as Egg Wallace in our house.

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 16/07/2021 13:45

But there's still scope to cut down

Of course there is! They were buying Heinz beans for example which cost £3 for 4, where as supermarket own are a £1.

Normally though it’s people who are spending £300 a week and can’t work out why.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/07/2021 13:53

we spend £150 plus a week for 3 adults, but we know why Grin

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 16/07/2021 16:54

Is it wine? 🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2021 17:18

120 for 4 wasn’t bad esp as brought brands

Tho how the sweet eldest boy said that his low fat sugar salt beans tasted the same

I’ve tried low salt sugar beans. They are rank

I obv like my sugary beans 😂😂😂

Well watching the show cost me money. I went in for the pork loin and ingredients for that dish and spent £85 Blush
