I thought neeps were turnips not swede? My Scottish DSM calls swede swede, but also refers to having neeps. confused

Turnip in Scotland is what you call swede in England - The big yellow inside one.

We call swede the little white one which I understand is turnip in England.

I see. I'll have to ask her what she means by neeps then, as what she calls swede and what I call swede are the same thing. Mind you she's lived in England for somewhere around 40 years so maybe it's just rubbed off on her!

That's probably it as mashed turnip here is neeps, but you guys call turnip swede so neeps no longer makes sense. Tur-neeps :o
