Is anyone else watching tonight? Caught up with series 1 to 3 as part of my Lockdown binge and found it got better as the series progressed. Really like Tom Burke and think he has great chemistry with Holliday Grainger.

Looking forward to this series! And pleased episode 2 is on Monday!

And the Radio Times published an article asking was it okay to watch Strike when JKR was transphobic. It also made other wild accusations against her which were then edited out. Watched the first episode today. I loved it as usual. Can't wait for the next book!

I didn’t think they put off the wedding due to mil dying

Strike had been trying to call her to say sorry but think number was blocked

He arrived at her wedding - I think to say he loved her but didn’t stop the wedding

His face was bruised and scratched and hand bandaged from the previous fight with the bloke in the house with body parts

Haven’t read books. Only watched strike and end of 3 was wedding

Then s4 was still the wedding so carrying on

Then says year later

She obv isn’t happy and shouldn’t have married Matt

And maybe if matt hadn’t blocked him from her phone , strike and her would have got together

And I think she would have dumped Matt

But her insecurities meant she couldn’t be alone so chose to marry him

Or that’s how I watched s3

In book 2 ( silkworm) the wedding is put off as Matt's mum dies and she has to go back to Yorkshire for the funeral and nearly doesn't make it because of snow and visiting someone in Devon to do with the plot!
They rearrange the wedding and it's in 'career of evil ' where it's a bit ' will she won't she' marry Matt , but her parents make her feel guilty for not making up her mind so she decides to go through with it. Even though he admits he did sleep with Sarah Shadwell when Robin was poorly after she was attacked at uni. That book ends with her saying ' I do ' just as Strike appears in the church.
In Lethal white she is clearly not that happy , but trying to make it work out.

I just assumed the wedding was still on after the funeral as no timescale

The first three dramas were on i player so I caught up one Saturday when I was nursing a bit of a hangover , plus I didn't see career of evil the first time around on tv.

He’s rather sexy

The actor that plays Strike had a hare lip as a child so that's why his lip is a little bit of an odd shape. He is very nice though : big brown eyes. Strikes hair is described as being ' pube like' in the books , but he has normal hair!
Charlotte , his ex g/ friend , is meant to be stunning. No offense to the actress who plays her but she isn't how I imagined her at all ( same for Rafe too)
Billy is very good and how I imagined him to be and his brother and Lorelei.
J k describes people so well it must be a nightmare being a casting agent for these dramas!

I think it's a different actress playing Charlotte in this series? Although I might be mistaken as she was only briefly in the first series and it's been a long time since I watched it.

He is nice. I don't like beards much either! I don't recall if he has a beard in the book to be honest but he is described as ' a bear of a man ' so he may do!

Also thought robin would have a better dressing on arm when got married

Robin was going to tell him that she was leaving on the honeymoon but found him with serious infection from cut on his wrist. In fact she did tell him but he was almost unconscious!

Yes she did tell him but he was ill from the scratch /bite he got in the sea

Loved her grey dress for serving manchego at the party.

Just caught up-loved it!

She only wore the grey dress because Matt hates the green one as she looks beautiful in it and Strike bought it for her!
She would have shimmered at her party but he can't bear that of course!
He really is loathsome!

Matt is so twitchy about that green dress. I'm sure the colour of it is a metaphor for his jealousy of Strike who only bought it for her to say thank you for helping solve the Cuckoo case ( book 1) yet he slept with horrible Sarah Shadwell because she was having a nervous breakdown over being attacked at uni years before and is generally a bit of a scumbag.
Grr!!

Do we see the Sarah Shadwell thing in the earlier seasons of the TV show? I don't remember it.

Sarah and what happened with Matt was mentioned in 'career of evil' which is still on bbc i player ( I think. )
