My favourite episode was on More4 earlier - The Mainland. I've seen it so many times but it still makes me cry laughing.

My dad and my ex boyfriend are Irish and they nearly came to blows in a restaurant fighting over who was paying the bill ShockGrin

Watched Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse Before and DH and I were in tears of laughter at the end.

Until we argued about which is the best episode 😂

That would be an ecumenical mayter!

TheoriginalLEM · 01/09/2020 07:18

Matter ffs

I’ve just remembered another favourite bit - the football match where they cut to Mrs Doyle and all the other ladies chanting ‘You’re not singing any more’. Brilliant!

KickingBishopBrennanUpTheArrse · 01/09/2020 22:59

Mrs Doyle's silent cry as she leaves the room when they buy her the teasmaid 😂😂😂

TheoriginalLEM · 02/09/2020 07:21

Father Jack getting an eye test, with the chart that just says ‘Drink, drink, drink, drink’ Grin

Fr Purcell (?) the boring priest, locked in a cupboard talking to himself about envelopes over the closing credits: 'what's your favourite humming noise? I like this one HMMMMMMM, or this one hmmmmmmm'

And also Fr Furlong's 'let's have a screeching competition!' in the caves. Years ago I went to the caves where it was filmed - Aillwee Cave in Co Clare. We did not screech.

Weren't the eye charts promotional ones donated free to the opticians by Feck Arse Industries?!

God she's such a wonderful actor. I truly believed she was bloody ancient.

"There's a G in Dougal, Dougal."

"Is there? Where?"

"Big bras!"

The nun singing ‘Ave Maria’ as hold music! And Dougal seeing Ted as a giant rollerblade GrinGrinGrin

Yes - Father Austin Purcell was the most boring priest in Ireland who talked about gas boilers, and was also attributed with boring a whole village in Nigeria into deserting their village.

Father Jessop - the most sarcastic priest in Ireland - was another great who ended up in Father Jack's underpants hamper.

Livpool · 03/09/2020 09:43

Love love love this show - it hasn't aged at all.

If me and DH are being a bit off with each other we always do "I'm so so sorry" a la Jack to get out of the grump!

Hell, Speed 3 and Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Sheep are my favourites

"Don't call me Len you little prick"

Always cheers me up

Regular quotes for us:

‘Nuns! Reverse!’
‘This will not go down well in the Ted camp’ (especially amusing as DS’s nickname is Ted)

We also often compare DH’s and DStepdad’s polite arguments about who pays to Mrs Doyle and her friend Grin
