My favourite episode was on More4 earlier - The Mainland. I've seen it so many times but it still makes me cry laughing.

My dad and my ex boyfriend are Irish and they nearly came to blows in a restaurant fighting over who was paying the bill ShockGrin

"To be honest, Ted, I'd forgotten you had the money. I was just going to say, your fly's undone."

I too felt a resonance with the crappy fete, having grown up in a village. The Tunnel of Goats would have been a high octane experience at one of our church fetes!

Pertella · 26/08/2020 16:45

I'd love to know how @glinner came up with the priest names that Mrs Doyle recited and how long it took.

ChessieFL · 26/08/2020 17:35

My favourite episode is My Lovely Horse but I also love the Eoin McLove episode. One of my favourite scenes though is the rip-off of Duelling Banjos from Deliverance. There’s also a scene of Father Jack on a roundabout and every few seconds his face comes into view with a huge grin!

lovelymm · 26/08/2020 19:56

Father Fluffy Bottom. The Raffle episode where the rival priests from Rugged island are blacked up like a the Supremes! Wouldn't be allowed now. And the Kraftwek priests!

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 26/08/2020 19:59

I can't hear Ghost Town now without imagining a lot of people shuffling around boredly at the worst disco ever 🤣

lovelymm · 26/08/2020 19:59

And Dougal's attempt at saying a prayer ' Er Papa don't preach'!

The old ladies talking about The Crying Game and his 'lad'. 'No, your Billy's was rounder at the top'!

The Chinese! A great bunch of lads!

Fantastic

I love the way certain phrases have achieved acceptable business usage. I've explained contra payments to Board members by saying "that money is just resting in our account" and they all look enlightened and nod their heads!!

SerenDippitty · 27/08/2020 13:24

We have the box set. They go with us every time we go on holiday to an isolated cottage on the Isle of Skye.

I liked the one where a priest died and left Ted his huge collection of Nazi memorabilia.

"Have you been at the toilet cleaner again Jack?"

JaneJeffer · 27/08/2020 20:44

We're getting Father Ted stamps Grin

I want Father Ted stamps!!
So do I!!! And I just realised that’s Mrs Doyle Grin
SoManyActivities · 27/08/2020 21:38

Father Ted is trending on Twitter because of the stamps. Comments specifically about @glinner are overwhelmingly supportive Smile

Good. I bloody love *@glinner*.
Cruddles · 27/08/2020 22:18

The racist episode for me. I don't know if I have time for the old racism, what with the farm and everything

Dumpyandabdabs · 27/08/2020 22:29

Its my absolute favourite, could just watch them all again and again. I especially love the one with sister Asumpta in it, when they all have to give things up for lent.

StillWeRise · 27/08/2020 22:34

how do we get hold of these stamps???

heuchterteuchter · 27/08/2020 22:47

I mind watching FT when it first came out, I've watched each episode hundreds of times! I do still use the phrases sometimes but DH isn't a fan.
Fave episode was Chris the sheep! and kicking bishop brennan up the arse!
Gutted when Dermot Morgan died, he was superb as were all the actors!

MrsDrudge · 27/08/2020 22:55

Oh yes, the Graham Norton one forcing the youth club members to have “fun” Irish Dancing in the caravan.
And the retired priests 5 a side football match.

lovelymm · 27/08/2020 23:04

The stamps are shit!

redskittleorangeskittle · 27/08/2020 23:08

I love The Old Grey Whistle Theft with Father Damo. ‘Father Damien. Your tea is ready.’ Teatime in my house always reminds me of that scene.

TheySeeHerRowling · 27/08/2020 23:21

Old Grey Whistle Theft is my ultimate favourite because it has the 'no swearing' scene ('you fuppin baxtard')

The bit in the Speed episode where Dougal begs for help and Ted pulls up alongside saying Mass on another milkfloat made me cry laughing

Chris the Burping Sheep 'fucking hell' moment

Mrs Doyle guessing the priest's name ('Fr Chewy Louie' was a former mn name of mine), and Mrs Doyle being horrified over the language in Gemma Craven's romance novels

Father Ted remains the one and only comedy show to make me helpless with laughter, always and forever #1 in the charts for me

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 27/08/2020 23:25

and it ends up totally banjaxed
OMG thank you so much for saying banjaxed, brings back childhood memories of my Nan and Grandad 😀

Motorcyclemptiness · 27/08/2020 23:30

Definitely Speed 3 for me "Ted! You forgot your brick!"
And I want Father Ted stamps too.

Motorcyclemptiness · 27/08/2020 23:32

And I bloody love @glinner too - good man
