My favourite episode was on More4 earlier - The Mainland. I've seen it so many times but it still makes me cry laughing.

My dad and my ex boyfriend are Irish and they nearly came to blows in a restaurant fighting over who was paying the bill ShockGrin

That scene where Bishop Brennan’s visiting and Dougal’s been warned not to mention his child and he sits there and then blurts out “how’s the son?”

cantarina · 24/08/2020 22:31

Can't tell you how many times I've said 'the money was only resting in the account'!

Queenoftheashes · 24/08/2020 22:32

I’m watching the mainland now
I’m a bit drunk, this was an opportune thread
Ted is about to punk meldrew

Beachbodylonggone · 24/08/2020 22:32

The kid's duvet sets they have!!

Queenoftheashes · 24/08/2020 22:32

Dougal fucking did him over

isabellerossignol · 24/08/2020 22:32

There is an episode of Frasier that has Bishop Brennan in it. Well, not Bishop Brennan obviously, but the actor who played him. He was American in Frasier though!

And on that note 'don't call me Len you little prick!'

MNX42 · 24/08/2020 22:33

So many brilliant episodes. Particular favourites are Kicking Bishop Brennan up the Arse, A Song For Europe, Hell, Think Fast Father Ted and Speed 3. Loved Graham Norton in his episodes - "I'm putting you on my list of enemies now Tony. Nooo not really, look what I wrote "I really like Tony!"

elp30 · 24/08/2020 22:33

"A Song for Europe" is one of my favorite episodes with "My Lovely Horse" as their entry.

I still think the one with Pat Mustard is the best one though!

MNX42 · 24/08/2020 22:33

How's your bra?

SoManyActivities · 24/08/2020 22:33

Is there anything to be said for saying another Mass? Grin

RuudGullitOnAShed · 24/08/2020 22:34

Love them all. DH and Ihave so many Fr Ted sayings that we use all the time.

Joolsin · 24/08/2020 22:35

An Post are bringing out a set of Father Ted postage stamps on Thursday this week - they asked people to nominate their favourite scenes/quotes for possible design inclusion. Needless to say, Kicking Bishop Brennan up the Arse polled highest by far, but they can't put that on a stamp Grin

Down with that sort of thing!! Careful now!

Ginfordinner · 24/08/2020 22:35

Gwan gwan gwan gwan gwan gwan gwan

Floods123 · 24/08/2020 22:36

Father Jack should have been Pope! He would have been perfect in the job!

OneFootintheRave · 24/08/2020 22:36

Great meme @LillianBland! I did like the Eurovision one, "My Lovely Horse" also the most boring priest in the world, Father Purcell, who just went on about boilers.

Those awful pictures on the wall of the sacred heart and the BVM that every Irish Catholic will recognise.

I remember being so shocked when he died in 1996 or so? At that time the Catholic Church had not quite had its fingers prised off its stranglehold on the neck of Ireland and Dermot Morgan was still considered controversial and and dangerous by that establishment!!

EmmaC78 · 24/08/2020 22:37

I love the Song for Europe episode. My lovely horse :)

PajamasnoDramas · 24/08/2020 22:38

My favourite FT moment was when they’re testing the Christmas lights...”they’re on Ted, they’re off, they’re on, they’re off”

Classic.

garagedoor · 24/08/2020 22:48

Best scene ever!

Father Ted
Defenbaker · 24/08/2020 22:50

I love the one where Mrs Doyle dons a protective helmet to clip Father Jack's nails. The sight of them curling around the end of the chair airms, looking like claws, then the moment a stray clipping shatters the window, it just cracks me up every time. Grin

The one with the rabbits is great, too. Most of the storylines are totally ludicrous, but the way the characters all just accept their reality as the norm is what makes it all so funny. DH doesn't understand why I love it so much. He thinks it's all a bit silly. I think that's its charm.

RJnomore1 · 24/08/2020 22:51

Bored of

Briiiiiiiiiick

NeutralJanet · 24/08/2020 22:53

I love the Song for Europe episode too.

"Anyway, the song was called Vienna."

"Just play the fucking note."
