But he whispers all the time! We had to put subtitles on.

The80sweregreat · 05/08/2020 18:55

I watch everything with subtitles! Most dramas are so hard to get the right volume , so it helps if the actor is a mumbler type.
It also helps me follow the plot!

butterpuffed · 05/08/2020 19:26

I watched with subtitles too as Michael mumbles. Had to laugh when Ophelia was surprised by the knocking and it said 'She jumped panickally' .

And in the first episode, you saw her leaving via the front door in just her pyjamas, next shot she was outside it with her red coat on !!

I do wish I didn't notice these things as it stops me concentrating.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/08/2020 21:08

FlowerPig · 05/08/2020 21:54

Sorry haven't read the full thread as don't want any spoilers.....but I've tried to watch the first episode on catch up and it seems to have audio description on.....has anyone else found this or just me?
How do I fix it if you found the same?

Helpimfalling · 05/08/2020 22:16

Here^

Jesus i am meant to be a teacher.

Optimist1 · 05/08/2020 22:29

For someone who made the journey to Ireland with only a small bag, Ophelia sure has a lot of clothes (two coats, multiple pairs of pyjamas, jeans, jumper and lots of teeny tiny dresses)! Or are we meant to think that she's happy to raid Roisin's wardrobe?

happinessischocolate · 05/08/2020 22:30

I'm so glad it finishes tomorrow, it's dire 😁

It feels like it was written by a 13 year old, which is also how old Ophelia looks.

I'm only watching it for Sean and because I always have to know how things finish, no matter how crap it is

happinessischocolate · 05/08/2020 22:34

@Optimist1 there's no many plot holes.

In yesterday's episode, she ride a bike to the pub but then when she started feeling uncomfortable in the pub she pleaded with Sean saying she wanted to leave, and he eventually agreed. Why couldn't she just walk out and get on the bike.

Whatever's going on I definitely think Sean's in on it.

Clawdy · 05/08/2020 22:37

And she certainly didn't look pregnant enough for a scan telling her she was having a girl! I was trying to spot the bump.

HollowTalk · 05/08/2020 22:38

@Blondeshavemorefun

Lol yes *@stumbledin*

This one you are posting on 😂😂😂

This has made me laugh so much.
Helpimfalling · 05/08/2020 22:45

Please please any guesses to
How it finishes?

This is why i don't watch a series i can not binge watch!

Just asked google and it wouldn't tell me either.

I literally could not even take a stab in the dark

godsowncountry · 05/08/2020 22:57

@Clawdy it is perfectly plausible not to show until 20 weeks plus, especially as it's her first. I didn't show until 24 weeks with my first.

It's taken a much more dark twist now - was that Roisin locked in a room at the end? And the missing girl?

1984isnow · 05/08/2020 23:08

This show makes me far too nervous, I hope the ending is worth it.

The whole village thinks Roisin is dead, so unless they are all in on it, surely it can't be that this is just for Ophelia's baby?

The rucksack at the end though, hmmmm. Maybe Roisin killed her, Michael covered it up and that's why they ran away to Ireland. I forgot her name, but I think the argument between her and Michael at the party was to do with the book rather than an affair.

Does anyone think Michael knows about Roisin?

My mind is all over the place with this one!

Oct18mummy · 05/08/2020 23:11

Michael and Sean are lovers and they want a child so got her pregnant on purpose will take baby and then kill her off- Roisin will come back and save her but not sure what’s going on with the creepy mother in law

Winniewonka · 05/08/2020 23:14

It's enjoyable hokum, here's my take on what's going on. I think the missing girl whose brother has come to Ireland to look for her is the real author of Michael's book. Ophelia found her manuscript in the rucksack with quotes from Thomas Hardy, Michael told Ophelia he wasn't well up on Hardy but there's the same quotations at the beginning of the chapters in his novel.
I think sadly it's the missing girl who died in the fire and not Roisin. This is why Roisin's mother doesn't seem to be grieving in the slightest and is quite accepting of the fact that her son in law has already moved on with Ophelia despite supposedly losing his wife in tragic circumstances.
It could be the entire village is in on the deceit although I'm not sure why, it's a strange but watchable drama.

Northernsoullover · 05/08/2020 23:17

I thought it was the girl he was arguing with from the first episode that died in the fire. I didn't even know she was missing at that point.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 05/08/2020 23:28

I agree the missing girl died in the fire & Michael stole the manuscript but I'm not convinced Michael knows about Roisin.
I just can't see how it plays out. How can they ever have a life together baby or no baby??
I think Clodagh still has a part to play & that Sean will save Ophelia.
But this could all be completely wrong! I'm enjoying it but slightly worried about watching it home alone. I'm such a scared cat

Clawdy · 06/08/2020 08:09

Missing girl died in fire, presumably because she threatened to tell everyone Michael had stolen her story. Ophelia is being dosed with something, not sure why. And how will she end up being tied to a chair, telling her story!? Looking forward to tonight's, even though it will probably have a ridiculous ending.

butterpuffed · 06/08/2020 08:10

You're not wrong, all the holes in the plot and flashing from one scene to an unconnected other Grin

But it's holding my interest as it's making it enjoyable, no idea what's happening though ha ha !

The80sweregreat · 06/08/2020 09:57

The clothes Ophelia had in a small bag ! Or she is happy to wear Roislin ones! 😀

I think Sean is in on it as he told O that he saw Michael's wife in the fire and identified her ( I think he said that first episode)
He looked very close to Michael at the funeral! Mary is a red herring maybe? Just not the sort to be upset at her daughter 'dying ' ? Or she is the one who locked her on the room!
Last one tonight!

MintyCedric · 06/08/2020 10:51

I'm absolutely baffled. Too much going on and not enough clues...I know there's got to be some suspense but all the elements feel totally disparate.

I really, really dislike Mary.

The80sweregreat · 06/08/2020 11:55

What is the significance of the little girl and the lady whose baby died?
The dad told that story and it seemed to go on for ages! Then he died!
All very strange.
