Couldn't see a new thread so started this one. So we're now into a show of two halves, edited together - pre and post lockdown! Who's shouting "before" "after" at each scene?

OP posts:
JamieLeeCurtains · 11/08/2020 13:52

Maybe the writers are reading this thread, thought 'oh fuck' about the birth certificate, and are hastily having to write in a miraculous lightbulb moment for Sally.

Meanwhile, drivel. Steve's sausages and Chesney's nipples.

PoloNeckKnickers · 11/08/2020 14:57

Don't forget Dev's beard, JamieLee

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/08/2020 15:00

@ColonelNobbyNobbs

“All the platts”

Surely we can keep David MonkeyToes?? He’s the funniest character in it.

Nope, frayed Knot. I don't like how he speaks to people with his arsey attitude that'd get him regularly punched in real life. He's not slightly believable nor a good actor. But, as you like him, I'll write it so he gets it the least and doesn't need ventilating... But it still bumps him off.. 😝
Roussette · 11/08/2020 15:04

I honestly think... hear me out Grin.. they do a certain amount of crucial scenes to do with the likes of Yasmeen/Geoff, Tim/Sally, Gary and whatever... all that is in the can.

Then they need filler so they have a rota of randoms who are not in the current story lines and call them in and film dross, like the sausages Chesney's nipples and scenes like this can be slotted in anywhere. Hence it making no sense at all.

Roussette · 11/08/2020 15:05

Even that post made no sense!

I mean they have a bank of dross scenes that they can call on to fill in. Grin

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 11/08/2020 15:08

Do we know what Geoff has actually done with Elaine?

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/08/2020 15:22

@EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide

He's tied her up in the basement set that they haven't used since Andy and Phelan.. 😉
Smallsteps88 · 11/08/2020 15:44

I think with the sausages they were trying to portray the way some people IRL were having rage episodes whilst queuing and things like that due to heightened tension combined with restrictive measures and by reduced services. So no Steve is already stressed with Oliver etc and the no sausage barm from roys, something he has regularly and was relying on for a bit of familiarity, just tipped him over the edge.

PoloNeckKnickers · 11/08/2020 15:45

I think you're right, Roussette. I wonder if they've forgotten about or just abandoned the Johnny/mystery B&B man plot?

ajandjjmum · 11/08/2020 15:51

I think the fact Craig was trying to get fit was mentioned before lockdown - didn't he plan to go running with someone?

But yes - a 'you're looking great these days mate' wouldn't go amiss!

ajandjjmum · 11/08/2020 15:53

@Roussette

Maybe we could add some dross suggestions - although they do seem to come up with their own quite well!
Roussette · 11/08/2020 16:06

Yes... like Chesney on the Vlog. Are we all meant to have been swooning at him shirtless?

hint. I wasn't!

eggandonion · 11/08/2020 16:12

In fairness, David does seem to be punched a bit in real life. Hopefully Emma will fall for lovely Craig, across a crowded room (or empty room).

JamieLeeCurtains · 11/08/2020 16:24

bank of dross scenes Grin

Well they've clearly got the full catalogue of Used-to-be-Dixie-in-Casualty shoving money into her bra looking smug.

LookAtTheCahhOlivahhhhh · 11/08/2020 20:50

@eddiemairswife

Has the new slimline Craig bleached his hair?
I read an article that he's been using purple shampoo to take the red out and his hair has miraculously turned white blonde. But he has two inches of roots... 🤔
eggandonion · 11/08/2020 21:35

I think trim up north was closed, and he's been messing about with products.

BenoneBeauty · 11/08/2020 23:47

I would love that to be the reason @Smallsteps88 but I think you're giving the writers too much credit Grin

Smallsteps88 · 11/08/2020 23:52

Possibly! Grin

CoolShoeshine · 12/08/2020 06:35

Did Jenny say that the mystery B&b man had left? So guessing they’ve completely dropped that storyline. Maybe he’s shielding in real life

Roussette · 12/08/2020 07:26

Yes, I think he has gone. V annoying that they run with something and then drop it just like that. I'll be gracious and say it's down to Covid and I wasn't interested in it anyway!

Clawdy · 12/08/2020 08:16

Bet the actor is gutted though. Getting a role in a soap then the storyline ending is a nightmare.

AltheaThoon · 12/08/2020 09:57

Not usually a fan of Dev but I quite liked his new look!

I hope they're not going to follow real life covid rules - imagine them all speaking with facemasks on in the cabin 😷😂

LookAtTheCahhOlivahhhhh · 12/08/2020 10:29

If they had to wear masks, you could put some extra in a Ken or Rita wig with a mask on, have the actor do the voiceover and they can be back in scenes!
I also thought that there would be some better ways to make couples look closer, split screens, CGI etc. We live in a world of technology but I might be expecting too much 😁

I did wonder if they would write an illicit affair between Abi and Tim seeing as they're the only two who can be close in real life.
I've been overthinking this now 😳

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 12/08/2020 10:31

I bet he'll come back, because there is nothing going on with him while Johnny is away anyway is there?

Spam88 · 12/08/2020 15:15

I think CGI is probably slightly beyond the budget for a soap. Sometimes they do alright, Faye and Tim looked quite close the other day.
