Couldn't see a new thread so started this one. So we're now into a show of two halves, edited together - pre and post lockdown! Who's shouting "before" "after" at each scene?

I like some of the covid stuff (Sally!) but Abi and Gemma’s virtual hug was cringe.

We haven’t heard from them in a while have we? Is Ken back in number 1? Is he still with Claudia?

I don't watch any other soaps... is Eastenders or Emmerdale doing covid?!

Thanks @ColonelNobbyNobbs - I did worry that we'd missed one. I'm loving the COVID references as I think they're being used to bring humour into it and I also liked the virtual hug - it actually made me cry a little. I am more emotional currently (& I blame the COVID situation for that as I seem to be crying at the drop of a hat) but what they did is very like some things we've been doing with friends and it does bring home how things are so not natural at the minute and who knows when they will be but giving a friend a hug is still not allowed.

@Roussette Eastenders hasn't been back on yet. I don't watch Emmerdale so don't know about what they're doing.

I don't know about Eastenders, Rousette, it's currently showing some old classics and some smug cast interviews with Stacey Dooley, whilst they film new stuff (I think).

I think Emmerdale is, but I don't watch it any more.

Emmerdale did (i think?) 4 special lockdown episodes where 2/3 characters were in each episode acting out different days over a period of time during lockdown. Then they started normal episodes again and there was no mention of covid but they’ve just started referencing it in the last week with talk of cafes re-opening But very mild compared to what Corrie are doing.

Why was Aliyah in Sally’s house? That wouldn’t have been permitted back when they filmed it would it? Or maybe it would. I forget when the rules changed.

Maybe I need to concentrate more. I cannot reconcile real life rules and guidelines with the Corrie timeline(s). Probably because RL became so confusing in June.

The Covid thing is ridiculous I’ve decided. There is too much of a lag for them to keep up with the bloody guidance and the result is bizarre. I thought it would be a vague mention I mean I know it’s CORONAtion street but

Damn, missed the very end bit. Faye said she saw grandad arguing, Tim started ranting about Angela Lansbury ... and then I got called away! Did Geoff arrive?

Yep and he ranted at Sally.
Then at the end, Tim looked like he was doubting Geoff, Geoff noticed and looked less smug..
It's unravelling slowly.

What I reckon is this.

They've filmed the end, and been reading our thread, and know that we think it's the best of the storylines, so they're filling in with lots of twists and turns for the middle bit before the ending of what happens to Geoff
