Couldn't see a new thread so started this one. So we're now into a show of two halves, edited together - pre and post lockdown! Who's shouting "before" "after" at each scene?

OP posts:
FeltCarrot · 31/07/2020 19:58

Oh Maria, pull your mask up and stop wiping your nose.

PhoebeSnow · 31/07/2020 20:30

A pp poster was talking about Paula Wilcox and Richard Beckinsale, they did work together in a tv comedy called The Lovers in 1970; written by Jack Rosenthal who is the late husband of Maureen Lipman.

eddiemairswife · 31/07/2020 20:40

Jack Rosenthal wrote some excellent TV plays. The Evacuees and Bar-Mitzvar Boy are two that I remember.

Honeyroar · 31/07/2020 20:47

Loving the social distancing car crash!!

Why is Maria wittering on about song lyrics and things she heard on the radio??

FeltCarrot · 31/07/2020 20:51

Ptang Yang Kipperbang was another JR play. (Took several goes to get predictive text to allow that one!)

VanGoghsDog · 31/07/2020 21:09

@Smallsteps88

The social distancing is really irritating me now. I know they have to do it but it looks ridiculous when Adam is miles away from his wife after she’s just been almost killed. He would be hugging her!
Either they do it or they don't film.

I've been really impressed with how Corrie has eeked out episodes and stories and not stopped at all, and I really look forward to it now it's three times a week.

I'd rather they filmed with the distancing, which I'm sure we can just ignore, than didn't film.

Smallsteps88 · 31/07/2020 21:13

I’m sure if they put their minds to it they could film it so couples who live together look like they’re actually beside each other.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 31/07/2020 21:15

This will be Maria’s second bloke killed in a hit and run (if Gary dies).

Smallsteps88 · 31/07/2020 21:24

I don’t think we’ll be lucky enough for that to happen. Grin

They can’t let him die yet- not while the rick saga is still unsolved. They can’t have him die and then Sarah just say to everyone “oh BTW- he killed that rick bloke.”

zigzagbetty · 31/07/2020 21:57

Geoff made my skin crawl in the pub with Jenny, urrrrg, reminded me of some customers I used to serve in the pub when I was younger, all slimey but menacing.

Sarah can't be serious that she would risk her marriage to the sexy scot over that ginger whinger Hmm can't wait for them all to get used to distance acting cos it feels a bit fake at the moment.

As pp said though, I'm loving the 3 nights a week, really look forward to it now!

woodhill · 31/07/2020 22:04

How did Geoff manage to follow Elaine- typical

I wish they would do that. Get so sick of everything being dragged out forever and ever.

Did he follow her somewhere? I thought he was just outside the train stop?
augustusglupe · 31/07/2020 23:21

I love Mary too, at least she can act. Christ, watching Ed is painful!! Whoaaaaaa....

Honeyroar · 31/07/2020 23:27

I actually fast forwarded through the Ed bit tonight. I can’t engage with the storyline.

I’m not a fan of Mary 75% of the time. They have her too slapstick.

I actually think they’re doing a good job with distancing and filming. Obviously it’s a little strange sometimes, but as someone else said, it’s the only way they can keep going.

The baddie always has to be lurking unseen around the corner. Them's the rules.
ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 01/08/2020 00:04

I disagree I want it back to the normal amount of episodes, I really miss my Corrie fest. Tonight’s episode was dire in the main, I really cannot engage with Ed and Aggie at all, I don’t care they have been together 30 years, they just do nothing for ma as a family whatsoever and I just cannot stand the ridiculous way he bellows.

Optimist1 · 01/08/2020 06:56

The baddie always has to be lurking unseen around the corner. Them's the rules.

And if the baddie has been absent from the street for a long time, he/she has to wear a hoodie.

Crumpettes · 01/08/2020 07:40

So Jenny said the B&B is closed - does that mean the storyline with Johnny/Carla/the mystery man is just dropped now? Never to be mentioned again?!

The writing is so weird since lockdown. Just the little things characters are coming out with seem to be extra ‘quirky’. I wonder if all the writers are working from home and the whole script editing process is more rushed than usual.

Clawdy · 01/08/2020 08:10

Yes, the writing is odd at the moment, last night's had some particularly weird lines and scenes - Maria's strange wittering after Gary's accident!!

Roussette · 01/08/2020 08:13

PhoebeSnow Paula Wilcox and Richard Beckinsale... yes that was me! I sort of knew they'd acted together but got all muddled up thinking it was Man About the House Smile

just watched on Catch up. I know they have to social distance, and well done Corrie for giving us some episodes but that car accident was ridiculous! Sarah just lying there like she'd had her legs injured, then she's fine was weird.

Maria has just said to Gary... you are the nicest, most lovely, most genuine person I've ever met. Is she on something?

I agree the writing is a tad weird at the moment. As is the acting! Was there a reason there were scenes in Speed Daal with the lights out?

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 01/08/2020 08:56

Grrrr last night was annoying! I think Sarah needs her head checking after that accident, as IF you'd protect slimy Gary when you've got the lovely Adam. Maria has always been stupid but what was all that crap about Gary being the most genuine blah blah blah? And £12.75 for a bottle of crap white wine, surely you'd just go a few doors up to Devs?

eggandonion · 01/08/2020 08:57

The lights were out so Geoff wouldn't be suspicious, and come in to see what was going on. But of course he was too busy giving Jenny the creeps.
Maria is hopelessly in love.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 01/08/2020 08:58

I forgot! Ed with his annoying drawn out long words aaaaaaggghh, he needs a slap.

Clawdy · 01/08/2020 09:02

Ed is sounding so like Dev! Funny if they had a scene together.
