Anyone watching? The Sydney couple are never going to last. She’s so annoying, surely just on it to get on tv??

Have their ever been a couple from these shows that have stayed married?

Abandrew was so crude, immature and disrespectful that he distracted us all from the sheer ghastliness of Anthony (“Nadia’s frigid”) which is saying something. I agree with pp that he is going to dump her humiliatingly when he has got what he wants out of this (sex? fame? ego-stroking?).

At the boys’ night Jesse looked like a 14yo who wants to join in with the big boys’ antics but thinks his mum will find out & tell him off.

Thick Nick lived up to his self-described bogan credentials.

Ah this is addictive crap, isn’t it?

LarkDescending · 20/07/2020 22:54

Weirdly, Abandrew looks really like a lovely friend of mine (other than the naff tattoo), so there’s a certain cognitive dissonance in seeing him behave like that in TV.

JustGieMePeace · 20/07/2020 22:56

@KurriKawari

Come back Lauren, all is forgiven!! Now I believe that bouncer story more than ever.
What bouncer story? Andrew was horrific tonight. No matter what you think of Cheryl he showed himself to be a knob of the highest order
AnneOfQueenSables · 20/07/2020 23:00

I thought it was ArmyAndrew who had PTSD from being in war zones ... not Abandrew because people saw him for the sexist, manipulative, bullying arse that he is.
I love Sean and Simon. They are good people. I thought Jesse looked uncomfortable at a lot of it but it would have been difficult for him to be disproving when he has to spend so much time with Nick.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/07/2020 23:02

Well Cheryl May be on there for the wrong reasons but Jonsey is just vile and thinks he's some sort of major catch

I think Simon HATES Abandrew. I'm watching now on the catch up - and Simon's face is guarded loathing . . . Sean and Simon are the only two decent ones.

I'm disappointed in Big Andrew and Jesse, too. I thought better of them but I was wrong.

MissMarplesHandbag · 20/07/2020 23:02

I am so invested in this and I very nearly did not record the series!
I cannot believe how bloody awful Abandrew behaved in that episode. As someone else said, so badly that it eclipsed spoon-head’s outrageous frigid comment.
Just how fucking dare he slag Cheryl off like that. And Nick the dick making that bloody sleazy comment about where does he look. Absolutely right about his bogan credentials coming through.
Jesse giggling along with the whole thing, wanting to be one of the lads.
Thank god for Sean. Simon clearly looked very uncomfortable, as did Army Andy.
I really hope the experts make reference to this. Eugghhh.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/07/2020 23:05

Abandrew was so crude, immature and disrespectful that he distracted us all from the sheer ghastliness of Anthony (“Nadia’s frigid”) which is saying something.

I know - I couldn't believe that remark!

I wish she'd taken the opportunity to say "Only with you." or something, instead laughing it off. He's absolutely vile!

And he loads the guns for Abandrew to fire - carefully stoking any tiny bit of discord until it's red hot. What a piece of work he is!

RandomMess · 20/07/2020 23:10

I think Anthony and AnAndrew expect to have women falling at their feet like they are God's gift to women or something Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/07/2020 23:13

No - people who have read spoilers reported that Abandrew is claiming he has PTSD from his time on the programme.

Good luck with making that stick in court when he has shown himself to be such an *rse.

I'm not sure what the bouncer story is, but I think he must have done or said something during his "marriage" ceremony to Lauren that made her think - 'Nope! Not sticking around with this one."

He's nearly 40 and he behaves like an adolescent. He will die a bitter, lonely man, still complaining how none of the women in his life treated him properly.

I didn't and don't like Cheryl, but at least she defended him to her horrible dad, and she doesn't slag him off behind his back.

And in response to a previous poster regarding the validity of the marriage - I thought it was a legally binding ceremony, too, until someone on here explained. You aren't alone in your innocence. Grin

Destinysdaughter · 20/07/2020 23:15

Do you think the women will be shown the footage of the guys' behaviour tonight? Would be explosive TV if they did!

LarkDescending · 20/07/2020 23:18

The bouncer story is a rumour that Lauren was so dismayed by the rudeness of Abandrew to a bouncer, whilst trying to get them in to a club on their wedding night, that she did a runner.

AnneOfQueenSables · 20/07/2020 23:21

I'd love to see how Sharon reacted to the footage. She's spent so much time defending Jonesy but his behaviour was awful and she would not be happy with Nick acting like a sexist pig.

Honeyroar · 20/07/2020 23:22

I still don’t believe that story. He doesn’t come across as remotely aggressive, just a bit thick and unempathetic. He couldn’t argue with cheryl’s dad! And how “curious” that the experts have invited her dad back again for the next episode!

He doesn’t notice Anthony setting him up to look stupid half the timeZ

OP posts:
KurriKawari · 20/07/2020 23:26

I think if they show the women the clip then apart from susan and alene the others would all leave!!
I think IRL Simon and Sean would have left but producers probably made them stay.

LarkDescending · 20/07/2020 23:27

I also don’t believe the bouncer story. When they brought Lauren back she was giggling and coy, and there was no sense that she had seen a dark side to Abandrew. It was, on her own account, all about her being flighty.

Honeyroar · 20/07/2020 23:27

The twins would’ve loved to be there to join in.

Honeyroar · 20/07/2020 23:33

*to have been there

AnneOfQueenSables · 20/07/2020 23:40

The bouncer story is starting to seem more likely to me. Abandrew definitely shows a bullying, mouthy, unpleasant side when drunk.

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2020 23:40

I think it was pretty clear that everyone felt uncomfortable with Abandrew's comments apart from Anthony who unsurprisingly was encouraging him. I think Jesse was feeling awkward, Nick was chipping in, but didn't really want to go there, Army Andrew was laughing nervously and the others were obviously uncomfortable. Excruciating viewing.

Cheryl may not be liked, but I prefer her over a bitchy, whining 38 yo bloke. He needs to get a life.

waterlego · 20/07/2020 23:44

What bouncer story?

JustGie, I think Lauren later said that Abandrew had got aggressive or had some sort of confrontation with a bouncer at a club when they went out on their wedding night and it was this that had caused her to flee.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/07/2020 23:51

I still don’t believe that story. He doesn’t come across as remotely aggressive, just a bit thick and unempathetic. He couldn’t argue with cheryl’s dad!

I think he's coward and a bully. He was intimidated by Cheryl's dad because he was a rich bloke (and a bullying gobshte himself) and he didn't dare say anything till right at the end when they were due to leave and he was making pathetic adolescent comments ("What's it like to have feet smaller than your daughter's?" and "You know what they say - little feet, little *") - he was like a big child. Even those comments were made in a way that you could see he was resentful and a bit scared of the old man. I think he'd been gee'd up to defend himself by the TV company.

He loves being with "the lads" because he can play the big "I am" with them, and most of them hang on his every word. Spoonface winds him up and encourages him, and the others laugh at his nasty, mean comments and make him feel like a hero.

I think he comes across as passive aggressive when he is actually faced with someone who could cause him damage, and a real nasty bully towards someone who he felt couldn't defend themselves. He's awful.

KurriKawari · 21/07/2020 00:13

Andrew's story went from "she disappeared, I didnt see her leave, I have zero idea where she is and if she's safe" to "I was talking to the bouncer, I turned around and saw her getting into a taxi."

Also all the "jonesy jonesy" makes me think he has been pally with the boys and Anthony in scenes we havent seen.

SpanishFly · 21/07/2020 00:26

I've just finished tonight's episode. WOW.

The main problem with Jonesy is that he didn't just make a throwaway comment or two - he went on and on and on and on about how awful she was and what a poor lamb he was. Vile.
It is so horribly 2 faced to say he is happy to try and salvage something, but then talk like that about her.
The other problem here is that they don't know each other well enough to make comments like that even in jest.
Nick was disgusting. He brought up the "looking her in the eye" thing. If he had followed that with "she's really beautiful," it could have had a very different jokey tone to it. But the laughing etc just made it horrible and uncomfortable and incredibly degrading. I actually think Nick guffawing and stirring it all was really horrible.
Anthony was awful. He pulled the pin and sat back while Abandrew made himself look like an idiot.
Sean and Simon were wonderful. Proper gents.
Jesse didn't say anything awful, and he was blushing through most of it. I think he felt uncomfortable at a lot of it.
Andy again just smiles uncomfortably.
But the others laughing at her was nasty. Again, if they had been discussing Abandrew's situation rather than laughing and sniggering, it would have been such a different tone.

AnneOfQueenSables · 21/07/2020 00:26

It was interesting to see their faces when Abandrew admitted Lauren had come back eventually and offered to try again but he said no. He obviously hadn't told them that before.

SunshineCake · 21/07/2020 06:58

I'm only on programme four so want to read the rest of this but no spoilers so apologies for place mark.
