Brookside - do you remember the Nat and Georgia storyline?

I was too young to watch it, I know it had some very controversial storylines assisted suicide etc. But a brother and sister in a relationship?! Were they full siblings who had grown up together?

OP posts:

There was actually an earlier incest storyline, but more CSA-based. The posh couple (Hannah and her husband whose name I don't remember) fostered a troubled teenaged girl, and her sleazy brother showed up.

MargotLovedTom1 · 22/06/2020 00:18

I can't remember Hannah. Do you mean Heather, the solicitor? Think the husband was called Nick (and had drug issues) although I don't remember them fostering. Heather was played by Amanda somebody who seemed to on everything for a few years, such as Silent Witness, Peak Practice. Not seen her in anything for ages though.

SuckingDieselFella · 22/06/2020 00:33

She is in White House Farm.

Nat6999 · 22/06/2020 00:50

Amanda Burton

What a fucked up storyline!

Grin

In our defence, we only had a choice of four TV channels or taking our chances with a video from Blockbusters so we didn't have the luxury to be too choosey about our viewing!

Pieceofpurplesky · 22/06/2020 01:28

Sheila Grant's rape story was harrowing. The bath scene - Sue Johnson is an incredibly talented actress

Patsnpons · 22/06/2020 04:28

Loved Brookside

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/06/2020 05:05

I watched it even though I was only about ten so probably shouldn't have. It was gripping!

TheShining · 22/06/2020 10:31

Corrie touched on incest very slightly, when Jason and Julie nearly got it on.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 22/06/2020 10:34

Jason and Julie?? Oh my goodness was he very drunk?

TheShining · 22/06/2020 20:29

IIRC, they got it on when they were pissed, at the same time that Eileen found out that her and Julie were sisters. I think there was a "race against time" or some shit...or I may have dreamed it.

EdinaMonsoon · 22/06/2020 21:37

Wow this thread has brought back some memories! I think I started watching Brookie when Sheila was attacked. That was really harrowing viewing and agree that Sue Johnston is a wonderful actress.

The domestic violence storyline with the Jordache's was brilliantly played. Trevor's ability to switch from charmer to sadistic bastard was so realistic.

The storyline I really disliked was when Jacqui Dixon was being basically robbed by the local gangster. He insisted on having his security on the door of her bar and charging her a fortune plus dealing drugs on the premises. Can't remember the character's name but he was awful.

And didn't Jacqui get it on with Max at some point? I may have made this up but...wasn't she a surrogate for Max and either Susannah or his other wife? Can't remember her name either but she played Bob/Kate in Blackadder Grin

TheShining · 22/06/2020 21:56

I think it was Susannah. Didn't Max also end up burying Susannah in the yard?

The Anthony bullying storyline was hard viewing.

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 22/06/2020 22:08

Paul and Annabelle Wasnt the character’s name Berrel but called herself belle as it sounded posh?

I remember the scene with their parents driving them to a new home.

Hollyoaks did an Insest storyline too but in that case they werent raised together and didnt know. But then they carried on. Can’t remember the characters names but they were soulmates becUse they both liked ‘she banged the drums’ which i thought odd as thats nowhere near the beat stone roses tune.

Harpischord · 22/06/2020 22:21

What about the religious cult and Simon. Anyone remember that?

LoseLooseLucy · 22/06/2020 22:24

Yes, Simon with his jarring Manc accent, he 'corrupted' Katie didn't he?

lotusbell · 22/06/2020 22:30

Bloody loved Brookside! Can't stand Scousers but loved Brookie!

B1rdbra1n · 22/06/2020 23:33

Scousers are great people!!!
Love yous scousers and loved brookside ❤️

Babyshambler · 22/06/2020 23:39

Yes...I remember this. They were brother and sister !

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 22/06/2020 23:49

I wonder why Brookside got cancelled, they changed the way it was filmed towards the end, it looked more like an actual ‘film’ rather than if you were actually in the living room, it’s hard to explain but it really changed the feel of it and not in a good way so that probably did not help. I used to love Max and Patricia’s house when I was a teenager, I thought it was so stylish!

AMCoffeePMWine · 23/06/2020 03:34

Yes, I remember a lot of this.

Does anyone remember a storyline, where a younger couple got married and moved into their house on the close. And the wife tragically died from an electrical shock, which caused a fall down the stairs. I think the electric shock might have been caused inadvertently from her Dad who did the light switch repair.

The husband, many moons later, met a Canadian woman when he was skiing (I think), and they had a relationship???

Gosh I’m so terrible with names, apologies.

LindowMan · 23/06/2020 07:02

That was Laura and Jonathan!

Patsnpons · 23/06/2020 07:20

Wasnt there an episode where Sinbad had to consider amputating his legs to save a child after an explosion?

TumbledGlass · 23/06/2020 07:30

Paul and Annabelle. I can remember Annabelle having an affair with a man who owned a car sales business. Her son was working there and found out about the affair, he sold cars that day for peanuts.

Loved the Sheila and Billy Corkhill romance.

I stopped watching it after a young lad died, from a virus, he was something to do with Mick Johnson. I'd had enough of all the deaths by then, gutted when Damon died and also Greg Shadwick.

Fiddlesticks345 · 23/06/2020 08:59

Loving this thread!! Barry Grant 😂
