I was too young to watch it, I know it had some very controversial storylines assisted suicide etc. But a brother and sister in a relationship?! Were they full siblings who had grown up together?

Thanks for the link EineReise!

Brookie was bonkers. I remember Billy Corkhill forging a degree certificate so he could train as a teacher!

I've spent the last couple of hours watching incest gate on YouTube! Georgia was very pretty

Just had a look on YouTube. They were a gorgeous looking couple. Bev and Ron Dixon on the other hand ...

LoseLooseLucy · 21/06/2020 09:46

Bev and Ron 😂 then she got pregnant by his son Mike but Ron raised him as his own 😒
What was it she called their home, CasaBevRon? 😂

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 21/06/2020 09:47

I remember this well! I was a young teen I think, it was crazy, makes you wonder if it does happen though 🤮

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 21/06/2020 09:48

Yes Casabevron!

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 21/06/2020 09:48

I had a big crush on Tinhead lol

LoseLooseLucy · 21/06/2020 09:49

Yes, me too ItsSpitting.

BabloHoney · 21/06/2020 09:54

Bev and Ron were ace.. she had a chicken called Kiev. Loved it.

I think the Nat and Georgia storyline was around the same time Ray Quinn was in brookside? He was an excellent child actor!

SockYarn · 21/06/2020 09:54

It happens. A family I knew of when I was growing up had a son and a daughter who were in a sexual relationship with each other when they were around 16 and 15. Very mixed up kids before, even more mixed up after. Totally tore the family apart, the parents subsequently divorced and the third sibling is estranged from the other two (who are obviously no longer together).

LunaNorth · 21/06/2020 09:58

It was bloody gross.

LunaNorth · 21/06/2020 10:01

I did love Brookie in the early days though. Does anyone remember the siege at the nurses’ house?

The tension was unbearable.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 21/06/2020 10:09

Yes, it was gross. It's what turned me off Brookside when I had been a faithful fan. Pretty strange to go and seek it out on You Tube now I would say. There's a reason it's seen as a massive taboo.

My favourite storyline was when Billy Corkhill fell in love with Sheila Grant.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 21/06/2020 10:11

It's all on YouTube. My oh watches a few episodes most nights to get to sleep. 🙄

Chicchicchicchiclana · 21/06/2020 10:11

Yes, the siege was really well done. And Trevor and Mandy - the first time I'd really had to think about domestic violence and what it might be like to have to live with an aggressive, controlling, violent man.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 21/06/2020 10:30

There's a reason it's seen as a massive taboo.

Isn't that rather the point of storytelling? To explore, hypothetically, things we generally don't, or won't encounter in real life?

Regarding Trevor and Mandy - I so often read the phrase "under the patio" and wonder if the person writing it has any knowledge of the story that inspired it.

Nighttimefreedom · 21/06/2020 10:35

Tinhead was gorgeous!!

Loved brookie.

LindowMan · 21/06/2020 10:52

@LunaNorth I remember the siege - was terrifying!

HotSauceCommittee · 21/06/2020 10:58

Yes, I remember.
I was working in a factory as a student and one of the men there was talking about it and another said, "I wish she was my sister!".

Brookie was bonkers. I remember Billy Corkhill forging a degree certificate so he could train as a teacher!

It was better than that.

The primary school age computer whizz next door forged it for him. Grin

And he got onto a teacher training course despite being a convicted drug dealer.

B1rdbra1n · 21/06/2020 11:25

Barry Grant was on EastEnders!?
Oh Barry Grant how I loved him❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ImAncient · 21/06/2020 11:42

I seem to remember the Matthew & Emily storyline was useful for making young children wear their seatbelts. I loved Brookside.

Sleepthief · 21/06/2020 11:57

I'm friends with Jules in real life. Happy to report she has made a new life for herself and fully recovered from her early trauma Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/06/2020 13:08

Barry Grant didn't look so good without his mop of dark, curly hair though (shaved bald now).

I have no memory of that storyline at all although I was an avid fan back in the day. When in Brookie's timeline did it happen?

B1rdbra1n · 21/06/2020 13:14

In that case I'm not going to go looking for Barry Grant I don't want to ruin my fantasy😥
it's all about the dark curly hair isn't it💓

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 21/06/2020 13:19

@B1rdbra1n too right. Stick with your 80s fantasy. He doesn't look good as a gangster!
