I thought I might as well start it. As then I won't have to go searching for the new thread.

That was a nice interview. I'd wondered how she'd managed to fit it in around long doctor hours. That was some feat of organisation with all her colleagues!

IntermittentParps · 29/06/2020 09:12

google, that's a good attempt to re-spin your comment but I don't buy it.
As a pp has pointed out, you've no idea what time pressures the people without children might have, or the advantages (domestic help etc) the people with children might have. You just assumed that no children automatically equals more time.

I don't have kids but I can't imagine having time to practise sewing.

The interview with Clare shows what a huge juggling act it was to get her the time to do it.

Roussette · 29/06/2020 11:03

I agree, lovely interview. She sounds like she is soooo organised, I'm always in awe of organised people Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 12:37

Lovely that she is going to a Victorian Ball with Liz, too!

They've obviously stayed friends - I imagine they'll all keep in tough with each other, especially the later contestants who had more opportunities to get to know each other.

I hope the two of them post pictures of their finished Victorian gowns on twitter or facebook. I'll bet they look amazing.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 12:37

*touch, not tough

It will probably be Instagram. Today Clare posted a picture of the little statue which was her prize in pride of place on a shelf. I love that the prize is materially so insignificant, it really is about the taking part and that is why they helped each other, even in the final. A big prize would spoil it completely. GBBO is just the same and long may it be so.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 14:58

Agree with every word Captain.

Clare apparently was awarded "Most Dashing Dame" in the 12019 London Tweed Cycle Race (who knew such delight existed?!) but I can't find a photo - every year but.

What a shame.

I think I'm becoming obsessed with her. She's just so nice.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 14:59

Think I saw her in the cycle crowd on a brief YouTube video of it though.

SoupDragon · 29/06/2020 15:42

There's one on her instagram page.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/06/2020 15:43

This is it.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/06/2020 15:44

I'll try again.

Gosh - she looks fabulous. And yes - she is the lady I spotted on the ride. I was a bit uncertain because she wasn't wearing her specs.

I'm particularly impressed because she only took up sewing about five years ago.

If only `i could get my lazy backside off this settee . . . I'm sure I could be just as good

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 18:28

I'd love to join something like the tweed run.

All of those heavily bearded and moustachioed men (I can almost smell the beard wax from here . . . )

And the chance to dress up.

Some people even had penny farthings.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/06/2020 18:45

They had something similar in my town last year.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 19:02

Where are you Captain?

(Somewhere in t'North, I hope, so I could get to the next one)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/06/2020 19:07

I'm now wondering what I'm going to watch on Wednesdays.

My week is constructed around Sewing Bee.

Chesterfield. I didn't go on the ride but I saw some of the riders.
Auldspinster · 30/06/2020 10:12

I've started watching it again from the beginning.

I quite enjoying the Big Flower Fight on netflix. Its basically flower arranging on a large scale

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 17:09

Thank you Bruffin

I shall make a foray into flowers!

I thought claire's mum was a hoot
I miss when they use their family as models and it's a surprise for those that sew (I can't write sewers as it reminds me of sooooo-ers and not sew-ers). I cry at that bit. instead I cried when claire's mum walked in at the final and Nicole was there with her kids and it was all very emotional.
loved Nicole's feathery dress.

Patrick and esme are much funnier than joe and esme is a hoot too. perhaps esme and claire's mum can be bff

WhamRap · 01/07/2020 07:44

Clare's mum is brilliant. "I'd love her even if she was useless" 😆

dillite · 02/07/2020 08:17

That really was a lovely interview! She's so lucky to have such fab colleagues as well.

I wonder whether it's the same Victotian Ball in Bath that I go to?! This year's theme was supposed to be 1890's, although I wasn't going to attend as I dislike that period. I bet whatever she makes will be amazing.

OP posts:
Halsall · 02/07/2020 10:40

It sounds very likely to be Bath, dillite, she did say in that interview it was an 1890s theme, but it's been postponed for this year.
